Alfa Romeo Spider owners. The only car owners M.G.B., Healey and Triumph owners felt sorry for. Living in the heart of the rust belt the joke was,"Why are Alfa Romeo's always in mint condition. They don't run long enough to get out of the garage."
@Toby_the_Glen3 жыл бұрын
you've obviously never driven one?
@fasteddy9173 жыл бұрын
@@Toby_the_Glen You're very wrong. I owned a lot of sports cars in the 60's and had friends who owned the ones I didn't or wouldn't own. My best friend owned Alfa Romeo's including 2 Spiders. He had the local dealers phone number memorized because of the number of times they had to come and pick them up. They rotted out even faster than an Austin Healey. Did you notice all the repair manuals? There is a reason for that.
@Hammer01653 жыл бұрын
As an MG B owner, I don't feel sorry for them. But I don't feel sorry for myself either. Preventative maintenance and a yearly checkup to deal with starting rust issues is everything something British or Italian needs to stay running. Especially the 60s-70s cars which don't have complicated injection systems on old engines yet (like this Alfa does).

I love that Alpha! No, it's not Toyota reliable, but it is so cool! It will take some work to get it road worthy, but it would be worth it! MG's bodies aren't made by Pininfarina. Beautiful cars! The main issue for these cars is rust. If you have a good one, buy it! If you don't you are a fool!

I always liked the looks of these. Very attractive and the seats were quite comfy. I was friends with a girl in high school whose folks owned a 1992 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce (Series 4). They bought it brand new in 1992 (during our junior year). I used to see it in front of their house sometimes as I rode the school bus (and then my own car my senior year) to school as she lived up the street from the school. They also had two Volvo wagons. By the end of the decade, it was replaced by a Miata. I ran into to her one day at the grocery store a few years ago and asked her why her folks got rid of the Alfa. She told me that the car had issues from the first year of ownership and every time they turned around there was some new issue that cropped up. it spent more time ether in their garage or in their drive way or at the mechanics instead of being driven. They finally dumped it for a Mazda Miata because they wanted a reliable 2 seater that was reliable.

You need to actually look at that odometer and see if it is a 5 digit or 6. If it is a 5, don't count the tenth mile, then it could be 140,000 miles which makes more sense than 40,000 miles. It is not in bad shape for its age and these are fun little cars. Buy it, fix it up and then give it to me! Check it for rust though underneath. It also seems to be missing the spare tire.

Very rare to see those Alfa Romeo even here in Europe and that one seems to be in mint condition. That one in particular seems to be a Veloce CE special version for the USA (according to Wikipedia "The cars followed the VIN sequence 008276 to 008460" which matches that one from what I see in the VIN sticker. Randy buy it please, fix what is needed and sell it to those Alfa Romeo fans in North America or even overseas.
