Oh yes. When I dropped in for a visit, Ryan caught me in the rat guard and submitted me. I didn't even see it coming. I just remember thinking "what black magic did I just get hit with?" LOL. Good stuff guys!!

Sherdog turned me onto your vid’s of this guard awhile back. Staple part of my closed guard! Great stuff.

@@rottingshark1 Fantastic! I didn’t know Sherdog did a thing on my guard work. I have some new stuff from the position now as I did those videos about 10 years ago.

@@radicalmmaif I remember correctly, I believe the user Gambledub did a break down on the guard using gifs and most of those were from your early videos you did on the system. I laughed when I recently saw the ruotolo’s buggy choke, that’s now become famous, and recognized it as the same mechanic as your ghost choke. That choke is one of the few things that works against someone hunkered down and stalling in my closed guard!

@@rottingshark1 oh thanks so much. I didn't know Gambledub did a breakdown. I agree that this is a great option.

When going for the hip bump before grabbing rat guard, have you ever had to deal with a guy grabbing your base arm and pulling behind your back? We call it a five-o grip, not sure if you call it the same
@VOWBJJ4 жыл бұрын
Yes! It’s a thing, which is why it’s important to base out and hip bump in one quick and aggressive motion.

It is treated like an arm triangle I guess so not for kids/infant. For youth I am not sure, but from 16 yo it is fine. (AJP rules, Idk about IBJJF)
