aluminum can corrode when in contact with steel or other metals with different electrode potentials. Bolting Aluminum to steel. Paint is one way, but you already bolted it together, you might consider using a sacrificial anode, (ZINC just like on a BOAT) which is a material that has a more negative electrochemical potential than the metal it’s protecting. This helps to divert current away from the metal that needs protection, thus reducing corrosion. Put a few ANODES on it at least one for each piece of aluminum. Current from the trucks electrical system will pass through and will speed up the corrosion. PUT ZINC ANODES ON.

It’s also take a moment to think of ways to help veterans with PTSD get the help that they need. We all say “support the troops”, but we actually need to support them before, during and after their service. Just applying for benefits nearly requires hiring a lawyer or a knowledgeable person to help you walk through it. Make it simple!

Paul, I worked as a welder for years. If you have Aluminum against steal, with out some kind of material in between, like Duck Tape, it will corrode. Although aluminum on its own has inherently superior corrosion resistance to steel, galvanic action between the aluminum and steel or galvanized parts can lead to severe corrosion. Google it.

Paul, On your Rat Back truck, you will need to put a barrier between the aluminum tubes and the steel frame. When aluminum and steel are touching one another, they form a bond called “galvanization”. I know this because my wife had a car with aluminum wheels. I had not rotated the tires on this car for a few years. When I went to rotate the tires, I had to hit the tires/wheels with a 15-pound sledge hammer. I hit the tires/wheels so hard it almost knocked the car off the jack stands. Once I got the wheels off the car, I cleaned up the wheels and coated the back side of the wheels with grease. This was just enough of a separation to prevent it from happening again. I suggest that you may need to put some type of gasket material between the two metals. Good luck at this finish touch of this project.

That doesn't work on cars. It never has and never will. Anodes are not there to prevent dissimilar metal corrosion. They're there to prevent electrolysis, which is stray electrical current in the water. Two very different types of corrosion. And you still get dissimilar metal corrosion on boats.

“Buff and grind” sounds like a song you and Michelle danced to during Rumspringa back in the day!

Paul the hydraulic hose crimp machine can also be used to make a/c hoses and crimp battery connections just check manufacturer spec for crimp size and due to use and you’re set. Using that to crimp battery cable ends is the most secure I’ve felt them.

Very cool. It's really none of my business, but maybe you could do a video in which you surprise Michele with some new jeans so she doesn't have to wear the ones with all the holes. I bet she would cry with joy!

If you could figure out an edit sequence where it switches to just the arc whenever Paul starts welding .... that would be the best B role every made!!
