Do you like clicky switches? Even if you don't, you probably know how famous MX Blues are. But perhaps just as famous are the Razer Greens. Clicky switches definitely require a peculiar taste but don't you dare dismiss them for they do have their place in the system.
In fact, there are hidden benefits! Including annoying your friends and colleagues alike that is.

It is kind of annoying that clicky switches just started getting crapped on once custom keyboards came to the forefront.

clicky switches (any of them) are trying to mimic oldschool typewriter or buckling spring experience, but they cant. in order to get that typing feeling, switches must have quite heavy press and very pronounced kick when actuated. since all modern non-niche switches are light, the only thing you get is noise.

I don't know man, i am still using my Razer Huntsman Elite with the purple switches for a couple of years now and it's still okaish. I mean the keys are losing some of the structure on it and i can't really see the WASD font anymore but otherwise it still works... The arm rest is not that good in shape anymore too. These keyboards are fkn expensive lol...but i think this christmas i will go for a new one (Razer Huntsman v2 purple switches most likely or this one but i don't really need the macro keys...)

Been rocking Razer Greens sense the Blackwidow came out and am still using my v2. Though dont know if they have changed the greens at all over the years. Though with my new PC build I am trying to avoid too many controller programs and with some of the components like my AIO I am now in the corsair ecosystem but am trying to figure out which keyboard from Corsair would be closest to the Razer Green switches. I dont have a lot of places I can go to try out all of their keyboards as they usually only have one or two on display and never with all of the switch options. Sometimes they have a single key of each switch but you need to be able to actually type something not just tap a single key a few times.

@@eyeofsauron7662 Thank you for the suggestion but, The K100 is a $200 keyboard and your options are OPX and Speed switches which from my understanding are not the same as Razer greens which after looking into it more are similar to Cherry Blues which seem to be a rare choice these days as it is all about speed speed speed now. I ended up getting a K70 pro wireless though so at least if I dont like the Cherry Reds I can swap them out for any 3 pin switches on the market (so long as they are at least a clone of Cherry) I did also discover that apparently you can get the K70 with Blues and Browns as well but for some reason there are like 4 different listing for the K70 with different options for switches at different prices. That is ok though as a full pack of switches is not too expensive so long as you dont go with weird boutique options.

I really like using clickies there's just something about the sound and feedback from them. I get why people would be annoyed by them in public but I don't really take my giant full size RGB keyboard with me places. If I need to use a computer on the go I'm probably using my laptop keyboard.

Exactly. lol I meen it's a meme to take a buckling spring keyboard to work and time how long untill you get a call from HR asking (aka telling you to) call iT for a replacement 'office apropiate' keyboard. But then you think in all seriusness if (for some reason) post pandemic you have to be in the office so many hours a week a regular (membrane) or maybe a low noise mechanical is muchless likely to do that.

would you say Razer greens are easy to get into for someone who’s spent the past few months with silent tactile switches (HyperX Aquas)? they’re like MX Browns but with a better bump. im typically not a fan of clicky switches, but i might bite the bullet on getting the V4 with greens since Razer doesnt make orange switches anymore
@Yeven.

Ya I have the Razer Orange now and love them, but now that they are gone been hard to decide to go yellow or green. I've been leaning towards going green since I like the bump vs smooth.

@@Yeven. i was considering going with the Greens as well, but i tried a Blackwidow V3 and i surprisingly found myself not liking them because they felt heavy to me, if that makes sense. i might end up going with the Yellow Linears since they have a short actuation point and are lighter on the fingers

Yr. it's refreshing to get a keyboard review that sees some good things in razers Greens. I for one think being crtical of the key caps being kind cheesy BeCaUSe AtTitde and being: a oddball size, and kind of mid level quality. especially for how much razer charges.

I haven’t seen anyone say they are bad, they simply aren’t practical for most people. They switch is incredibly loud, meaning it’s not suited for use outside of a private space. This essentially means use in libraries, offices, or even at home if you have roommates is not recommended.

Anyone who dislikes clicky switches probably hasn't tried a great one yet (or they just think they sound annoying, which, fair enough lol). While I have a soft spot for click jacket switches like Razer Greens and especially Cherry Blues, the best clicky switches are from vintage Alps switches and Buckling springs! My favorite clicky switch so far is easily Matias Click switches, with their incredible sound, high tactility and light weighting. I am currently rocking an SGI Granite keyboard with damped alps tactile switches and a NIZ x108 keyboard for night time use, but I do want to get a click jacket keyboard like this Razer one day again. I miss the high pitched click and they are so nostalgic, reminding me of watching Minecraft youtubers in the early 2010s when mechanical keyboards were only starting to get popular again.

I've tried Cherry Red, blue, black & brown on various keyboards over the years and while they're all good in their own way for typing, I still prefer Razer Greens for playing games as they've been the only ones that work the best for me when playing FPS games. I have a Razer blackwidow elite right now but if I could find a good keyboard with Cherry MX switches that are similar to Razers greens I'd probably switch to that.

Why is that?
@QuasiMonkey
@QuasiMonkey 11 ай бұрын
@@mikeworkman1759 For when this keyboard needs replacing or I feel like getting a new one. Some of the keys on this razer keyboard already feel off to me. And Cherry is supposed to have the best quality of switches. That and Razer sells their keyboards at a premium price, with features I don't really need or use. Just need a good mechanical keyboard with backlight and switches that have the similar specs of Razer green. Though I'm not opposed to trying other brands of switches and I'll probably end up doing that once I do some more research into them.

@@QuasiMonkey eh well unless you go to r/kbd or r/mechanicalkeyboard all mechanical switches themselves last for a long time. Key caps,however, are all over the place for durability.

OK so i just got this keyboard and I am really baffled by something. I like the clacking of a mechanical keyboard, and this keyboard works extremely well in all regards except one: The keys make an EXTREMELY loud high pitched CLICK with every press. Not like the usual mechanical key clack, I've had multiple 'gamer' keyboards before with various MX colours and never have I heard a click this loud. I've been trying to think of a way to describe it, its similar to the sound of an old microswitch joystick, it sounds like a little piece of metal being flicked against a metal surface, like a tiny dog clicker or the sound of a metal 'popper' dome switch. Its in addition to the usual MX clacky sound so when I do a long stretch of typing its actually really aggravating. If I take a keycap off and press the switch directly it makes a sound that I would expect to come from a green keyswtich, namely a slightly muffled clack. I assume the keycap itself is amplifying or responsible for the sound, like something in the switch is smacking against the inside of the cap even though it doesn't look like it could. It's hard to decribe in easy terms... if you ever flicked one fingernail over another to make a click sound its a bit like that. The significant thing however is I've watched multiple video reviews of this keyboard including this one and all I heard is the sound i would expect, not this aggressively sharp metallic clicking. It literally sounds like each key is making two separate sounds at once. If I gently push a key down very slowly, just before it bottoms out it makes the click. The space bar sounds almost like flicking the ring pull on a coke can. Could I just have got a duff board? Or ... I dunno, Im not imagining it so I'm at a loss why it's happening. Anyone got any ideas? Edit - I've just been round the keyboard one by one and some keys are definitely MUCH quieter. I also noticed the clicks are all random pitches which might be contributing to the annoyance, its like the soundtrack of Crazy Bus. Edit - Didnt think of the obvious comparison, its about 3-4 times louder than a mouse click and more metallic. And yes I am aware there are versions with different key switches but for some reason they are absurdly hard to find here in the UK. Edit Again - For context, it was a very expensive and generous christmas gift... and I just woke up the person who gave it to me who was sleeping in a room across the hall from here (with doors ajar but not open). That's LOUD.
