(Pressing F) That was a lot of work to make a $400 car that was built like a $100 car go as fast as a $150 car and it only cost an extra $300. Parts and labor of course. And the check engine light is still on. It looks cool though. At least it does now. It's amazing how a set of wheels can totally change the look of a vehicle. It seems like when they designed it they couldn't even get the wheels right. It didn't look like a $400 whip, that's for sure. Total fail on their part, inside and out. Great video! I was glued to the screen the whole time.

The hoonicorn Variants come wioth Ball bearings / full metal diffs. I did the TA Upgraded shocks and carbon fiber bits cause i was a sucker for the hoonitruck body and put to much into it. topped it off with the SW4/4600kv combo love this lil truck for parking lot spinning

These cars can make fantastic rally variants. The conversion kit is one of the best deals in RC. At the time, there were very few touring cars that had the capability of a center diff.

If a driveshaft isn't steady, make a bearing housing in the middle of the chassis and put a bearing to keep it steady. If it doesn't work,go with 2-3 bearings.

Went to sterlingkit and got the kutiger (hpi) for 239 on special, was usually just over $300. Awesome car! I can't believe they want $300 for a 1/10 brushed car with bushings... Edit: Looking more at the car on Team Associated's site it's basically a box stock TT-02 that you don't have to put together or paint(if that is a pro or con is up to personal choice and I personally hate it; the best part of a Tamiya kit is putting it together) for over twice the price... What is TA smoking? You're better off getting a TT-02 then using the left over cash to buy hop-ups for it to make it a better car than the TA Apex 2 Sport. So disappointing.

AE has been around since the beginning. Prices are at the top but not all thier products. Not sure where they were going with this. Those "shocks" and lack of bearings in a $300 plus road car. AE is a icon in the RC world.

I did think about it, but the amount of work would have not been worth it. They have ball ends, so getting a bearing to the center would have been difficult 😕

That sucks so much :( I have the TA 14b buggy & the Trophy Rat, both of which are so much fun; the Trophy Rat has incredible handling even though it's (rear) 2wd. It's so chuckable & balanced, like a properly balanced real rwd car. The 14b is the best mini brushless buggy I know of. But that Apex? Bushings at that price? And upsetting Aaron by killing his Mamba mumbo setup? Shame! TA need to send him lots of freebies before Christmas :)

Totally, was a combination of that and the final drive gearing. It just finally packed it in, but I had great success with that system 1:1 gearing and this was .87:1

@boduke9428 I'm not trying to get all political, all I know is that I've had my Rally VXL run over by a truck and the only damage was that a driveshaft popped out and couldn't be put back in. Do I agree with the prices? No. Do I enjoy them upgearing and exhausting their motors to not quite make their speed claims legitimate? No. But they're not horrible. Every maker has its ups and downs, traxxas just has a lot of downs and a few ups.

Why so little for so much money? Because that is the American way! They learn when they are put out of business. And we wonder why companies fail so much in the USA. We can not compete with the labor costs in third world countries like China and others. Tariffs are just going to make these out of country goods cost more for us in the USA. We as citizens have no control over the cost of goods and supply and demand. The government controls everything and they do a poor job of it. Continuously raising prices doesn't have to occur, we don't have to have inflation. Prices can stay the same, fees can stay the same, wages can stay the same. You want more, apply for a different job. Something has to be done to stop the continued greed of the small minority that controls the world. Maybe the golden orbs will take care of it for us.
