Interesting coincidence that this was released just a few days after the verdict against Halicki came out. No more licensing fees. Builders (both hobbiests and professionals) are now free to express themselves through building Mustangs however they'd like-even if the build looks like an Eleanor. Definitely a win for car enthusiasts world round (and especially the Carol Shelby Trust, who just beat Halicki in court).

Shawn, the Eleanor movie cars were not actually 427 cars. They all had very basic 351 Windsor engines. They probably had more like 300 HP. My guess is that viewers would be very disappointed with an under hood reveal. It most likely is very plain and unrestored as there was no reason for the studio to fancy up an engine compartment that would never be seen.

Years ago I work at Don Kott Ford and were a motorsports distributor back then. We sold parts to the studio for this movie. Also they were pretty much stock. Fun Fact, the car with Nicolas Cage was a automatic , because he couldn't drive a stick. And yes these cars were not all tricked out, mabe visuals for the movie.

She claimed rights to the Eleanor name and images over Shelby who created the Shelby GT500 Mustang which was ludicrous. Fortunately the courts just ruled against her which now frees Shelby and others to create Eleanor versions of the car. Personally I think the Eleanor car has already been overdone.

I get it. As an Architect, if someone wants to replicate any of my designs, I will be compensated or go legal. Although making even slight changes can void the whole argument. Didn’t B is for Build call their build the Hellinore?

The game just changed with the ruling in favor of Shelby so curious to see what happens going forward. Wonder if B is for Build will revisit his build now that he can?

I think there are some "conflicts" here. As far as i know and studied way back the original design was made by Foose and the build was from a local US custom shop can't really remember the name now, there are youtube videos from 10-15 years ago.. also when "the lady" took the Brand back didn't allowed them (the original manufacturer of Eleanor) to build anymore Eleanors at all. Not the 25k tax fee. Maybe things got changed by time..and allowed a 25k fee...

Cinema Vehicle Service built the picture cars. As for the fee I believe that is coming to an end as a ruling was handed down recently which is pretty cool imo

@@AutotopiaLA hmmm...i've looked a bit and remembered CLASSIC RECREATIONS. Even the article below states that's the real deal. Quote from the article: This is the actual car from the movie, and it's owned by Denice Halicki, the widow of the man who made the original film in 1974, H. B. Halicki. She lives in the hills and didn't want to get a workout every time she turned the wheel, so Eleanor is set up to drive somewhat like an old Buick." There was a trial with CR and all the fuss that gone wrong with the car, i've followed the story some +10 years ago since it's the most beautiful car i've ever seen. Beside this, also was articles implying Foose to come up with the original design and if i remember well in an interview even him claimed he designed the movie car since the Eleanor didn't existed. www.autoblog.com/2009/10/19/eleanor-1967-ford-mustang-shelby-gt500-review/?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly9yby5waW50ZXJlc3QuY29tLw&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAKkar5rXAq1knCpDwZ3EprFnGt8RVpfgMtBG4nRDxsezHtVyKkI3ZL6m-JtIBFyup4SdH1xkbt1bLmQMAdBjrDjmiO5VZpg3PFAHPqMrSZm9wvsfWMlv8IAt7fiHAnSYvcY5UaYhziHpRugjp9wXG8cDp-fwntT80xFqmFE08TtH

Should even be more at the wheels; my '86 f150"s 351 based 408 was the second from the top from the shop that built it, and it had 493hp at 900 above sea level(sandbag much?).

How much I 'love' this Eleanor , for me it's still not more than a classic fastback but beautiful (!) restyled ... And I really like it . On the other hand , the Bullit car is still a Real moviestar and that chase was even better . The effects with the Eleanor on the bridge(the flying part) are a bit cheap ... But thanks for this video , I love the see this car again.

The sad part is I sat at the rear of my dads 1974 Caprice Kingswood Estate Wagon (at 7 years old) in the Van Buren Drive-In - Riverside watching this movie and it was surreal to me. Having watched Le Mans and Bullitt only on TV as a kid around 5 or 6 Gone In 60 Seconds was etched into my brain. One of my uncles lived near the Goodyear Blimp Base in Carson/Gardena and the Blimp in the movie just resonated with me in some odd way as all of movie did - since I knew many of locations in the movie even that young. The REAL ELEANOR to me will always be the 73 and the original movie is far better than the “other” version. Gladly though: Eleanor Mustang from 'Gone in 60 Seconds' no longer copyrighted as of this month.
