Claims she only met him a few times casually as a worker at the bar but then she does actually remember the first time they met. That's like remembering the exact person who made your Subway sandwiches 5 years ago twice.

Jess Gunning who plays Martha is a fantastic actress. You need to watch her play a ‘community payback officer’ is The Outlaws written by Stephen Merchant which returns for its third season at the end of the month.

34.50 what she is doing is doing when she is doing that is creating a narrative so using extraneous detail to flesh it out. Based on what I seen from the interview and based on the show she reminds me of someone I knew with covert Narcissistic Personality Disorder. When you accuse them of something they just vomit word salad or they bring up the names and details of people you have no idea about and aren't common frames of reference so you get lost in the detail. So instead of a simple "no that isn't how I remember that" she goes into extreme detail. At their core people like that are still children, their IQ goes up as they age but EQ remains the same stilted age they broke as children.

In television shows, dramatization and creative liberties are commonly accepted, allowing for deviations from strict accuracy. Whether a character is offered tea, alcohol, or a soft drink, or whether a meal is involved, becomes inconsequential in the grand scheme of storytelling. Similarly, the portrayal of events, such as a character not actually being imprisoned, or the last episode presenting a 'what if' scenario, contributes to artistic expression rather than strict adherence to factual events. While some shows claim to be based on true stories, it's understood that such assertions often incorporate elements of fiction and interpretation. Take, for instance, 'Fargo,' which despite its initial claim of being a true story, is clearly fictional. The disclaimer of being 'based on,' 'inspired by,' or 'a true story' is more about capturing the essence and emotional truth of an event rather than adhering strictly to historical accuracy. I don't think they needed to change the character's name; however, they did, so that should definitely absolve them of any wrongdoing. Also, I doubt Netflix would have produced the series if they weren't 100% sure that all these emails, voice messages, etc., didn't exist.

I do find it disturbing how willing everyone is to completely crucify this lady. I do find her awkward, but yeah... it is also her first time on television and she is being interviewed by one of the most tenacious interviewers. Everything said and claimed is pretty easy to verify. I am happy to wait a little more for the facts to surface. If it turns out that she was never convicted (at the moment nobody has produced any proof for that), Netflix has a pretty expensive problem right away. And what would be left of the show, the veracity, it immediately becomes quite unclear what is and isn't true. Why has everybody already decided that Richard Gadd, a barman, a comedian with a drug habit is the most reliable source...
