I can't help but wonder if the Aztec and the Songhai otherized the people they conquered, too. After all, all empires are ultimately the same, right? Hmmm . . .

Probably! Like he said, the Aztecs demanded tributes.

The Inca (which didnt get discussed nowhere near as much as the Aztecs... as per usual) had a policy of assimilation. As they expended they gave the option to the people of joining willingly and receive the perks that came with being part of the empire OR they'd get conquered with violence. They'd take the children of the conquered elites to the capital so they'd learn about Inca culture and the Quechua language, and probably as hostages too; and eventually sent back to manage their territory but now more loyal to the Inca.

"like how everything is better with cheese" lol while I personally agree, there are plenty of cultures that don't mess around with milk who hit the disagree button on that one

Once again the Inca get mentioned as an afterthought after discussing the Aztecs, even though by every metric the Inca were a more impressive civilization. Im really curious why this is, is it that the Aztecs being geographically closer to the USA makes them more "interesting" or is that Mexico being a bigger and more populated country than Peru somehow makes the Aztecs feel more important?

The content is fine, but the presentation seems wrong. Way too upbeat for what is in reality the ugliness of human actions. *All of it comes off as if this lesson is for a 12 year old, not for a college student.*

Crash Course is aimed at teenagers I would say and so this bled into Study Hall. Habits are hard to break.

Honestly find the presentation style to be engaging and helpful for retaining the information.

This is much better than most college professors. College Professors are to bland and boring.
