Really good advice 👍 I’ve also seen archers changing ”millimeters” instead of working on their actual shooting skills. And I have been down that road myself 🤦♂️

Exactly Bengt, I've been down there many times too - it's an easy trap to fall for and think that endless tuning is the answer!

Again, good advice! Thanks you very much! As you said, it's in the key details. I have people in my club shooting bows for 2k, but are using a old cheap tab with holes in the leather and arrows in bad shape. Needless to say, they are constantly tuning their bows with not much effect. I switched from a cheap Chinese Decut tab to a Fivics polite tab with cordovan leather, and what a great difference it is. Results in a much better release. I have to adjust my nocking point, because my average arrow speed increased by 3 fps!

If I've got my bow setup as well as I can and I'm shooting 620 @ 70m, would you suggest I start some finer tuning?

Ah, you answered it in the video :-)

How can you shoot 620? Isn't 300 the perfect score? Forgive if I'm mistaken I'm new at this.
@sannox01 Жыл бұрын
@@esnevip it's cool, 720 is the max score for a WA70 round, can be called 720 round or WA720, 72 arrows at 70m distance

If I shot my PB today 278, and realize that my arrows are pointing way right of the stabilizer. Would fine tuning help me get any better? I just kept shooting after the day I got my bow from the shop. They said they tuned it for me and I never check anything like limb alignments etc. How does aligning my limbs help me at this stage? Cause I am like super scared and worried about touching anything on my bow that changes it so much that my shots are off again. Have I gotten used to shooting a bow that isnt aligned? Is it a bad thing?
@OnlineArcheryAcademy4 жыл бұрын
Good question! I'd say don't be afraid - it sounds like you could benefit from just taking a little time to do a basic setup of your bow. If you're scared of ruining the current setting, you can just note down any adjustments you make and then if you don't like where you end up you can revert back to what it was before. I'd start by making sure the limb alignment is good (do this with the bow unstrung) and then go from there - once you have a little play you'll find that tuning is actually fairly straightforward :) This guide here should help walk you through step by step: www.onlinearcheryacademy.com/recurve-tuning/

@@OnlineArcheryAcademy I adjusted the limbs and it's just 1/8th of a turn away from perfectly inline. Now with news new setup if arrows land left/right of the target, do I change the windage or plunger first? I guess I will have to do a walkback afterwards as well?
@UweWong4 жыл бұрын
@@OnlineArcheryAcademy I think the hole for the stabilizer is not straight or my stabilzer is not straight, after doing walkback tuning, the arrow still points to the right of the stabilzer but just now as much. but string and arrow are both aligned, sight is slightly left. I guess its normal for this setup with the limbs, riser and stabilizer I have. but yeah, no more micro tuning for me.

Well, there's at least one olympic archer I know of who begs to differ... Once your technique is correct, archery is all about confidence, and having a bow that's tuned precisely will definitely ease your mind and clear your head so you can focus on your shot and don't have any doubts about your setup.

This is true but imo most people over estimated how perfect their form is

I get what you mean Martin, but what Adriaan said is perfect. Honestly, any micro-tuning is worthless unless you can consistently shoot 650-660 on a Fita 70m. Even when I'm shooting 670+ I can check my tuning on different days and get different results for which button tension is better...etc. However, the impact I've seen that arrow selection and consistency plays is absolutely huge!
@martinromer69974 жыл бұрын
@@OnlineArcheryAcademy I don't shoot 650 on average, more like 610 right now, but even so I feel the difference between a well tuned plunger and one set to average. Group size DOES get smaller - even if it's just a mental thing that you trust in your equipment to be as precise as possible and therefor have more confidence in your shot 👍🏻
