When Jerry Seinfeld sat down with Larry David to brainstorm ideas for the show, the character of George Costanza may have been suggested by Mike Costanza. When Larry was plotting episodes and writing dialogue, however, it was some of his own quirks that came through in the character. For example, Jason Alexander thought it was just not believable that George would have someone videotape his scalp to see if hair was growing back in his bald spot--but then he saw the videotape Larry David had had taken of his own bald spot.

I grew up in Queens, New York City. My parents were so much like the Costanzas in so many ways. My Mom fought over why my Dad bought oranges with pits when she wanted navel oranges. Never forgot the bickering.. I had to go downstairs to my friend's parents apartment to get away from the drama. Funny though when we look at it years later. Loved Seinfeld. Miss the series but we do watch the reruns when we can. Thanks for the video!

The Jerry character is actually based on another ‘80s comedian whose name I don’t recall but I heard Larry David mention it on something. This guy was a womanizer, unlike the actual Jerry who’s a complete dork.

Yes there was a different actor playing Jerry's father AND George's father, very early on. The first episode that featured George's parents had the scenes filmed with Jerry Stiller and the other guy.
