This is the best video on long-drive mechanics I have seen. You seem to have a better understanding of mechanics that some of my engineering students, which is worrying. 😂 I play with one arm only and I have added almost 35 mph (from 70 ish to 105) swing speed essentially just with these techniques, I am not even fit. For you guys thats nothing of course, but at my casual club that already into the top 5 longest hitters of the whole club. But coming from being out-driven by 80 year olds to having a reputation of "that guy with the long drives" and doing it with one arm watching the total confusion on peoples faces, is hilarious. Now I am invested, now I wanna get fit and strong and push it up to 110! Grüsse aus der Schweiz :)

Great Concepts and instruction! I love the hyperbolic way he talks about certain things because it makes things actually click. Because long drive is so extreme if you take these principles and kind of narrow them down to a simple form you actually get some very solid fundamental information.. Martin has really learned to share a lot of his enlightening information! It is very much appreciated

I'm really new to golf. I've been trying to figure out why, even though I have a nice straight ball flight, I can't hit distance for squat - my 7-iron goes about 120 yards. This video answers that question. I watched it about a week ago... and today was my second driving range session since trying to push my Center of Mass back during the backswing, and forward during downswing, and up during impact. It'll take a bit of practice to fully nail down consistently... but that 7-iron is now incredibly inconsistent, with distances between 120 and 150. Yup, you just gained me 20 yards on my 7-iron. Thanks for that. 🙂 I also wasn't able to hit my driver before employing this technique... today I could. Easily. Until today I've been that newbie that hits his 3-wood off the tee. It'll be a while before I can nail this down enough to actually employ it consistently enough to declare it a part of my swing, but even just the progress made today is just plain EXCITING!

Great vid Martin. I just got back from Topgolf and I hit a speed record of 77mph! Just to Clarify, the torque force is not being created by turning back but by transferring the weight back against the club. By having too opposite forces, the club moving forward and the body weight moving back, will create more torque in the golf swing. How we get our weight back onto the right side is by pushing back off the ground with the left foot. From what I have analyzed and learned is that long drivers are creating more power by having significantly more torque force then other golfers. And like what you said in the video it also helps you hit more up on the ball to achieve higher launch angle. As a suggestion, I was wondering if you could start a community discord just to talk about long drive. I would absolutely join and would love to chat with you and other aspiring long drivers. Thanks you for your consideration. Sorry this comment is very long.

Two things: 1.) For those that wondering what song played at kzbin.info/www/bejne/bIG6fqKtjJmaqNU, it's Buss It by Yarin Primak. Put that song in your ears when you go to the range and you will instantly gain 7.2 yards. Question B: How did you become so fluent in English? Is it the norm in Europe for all kids to learn English as a kid? If I didn't know any better I would swear you grew up in east Texas and would have gone on to play football in college if it wasn't for a knee injury suffered against Longview in the playoffs. Your ability to speak multiple languages is impressive as your long drives.

Does a higher angle of attack increase ball speed because it allows you to swing faster into the ball? Or is it mostly just for launch and spin purposes? Could you get 220+ ball speed with a negative attack angle?
@MartinBorgmeierLD

It can increase downswing length but can also cause some glancing blows. Very much depends 👍🏾
@kencsurilla6886

I don’t believe it would make you swing faster or slower. Depends on mechanics. It adds distance because of efficiency and spin. Dynamic loft. Tour average is actually-1.4 down at like 114 mph. Helps find fairways in theroy by adding spin. But they are really good at it lol
