Aaron Kaufman is a car genius. He was a big part of the success of the show. Building intricate, one off hotrods at his level takes huge focus. Trying to be an actor in a weekly movie and building cars is almost impossible. Richard could just be Richard. It was all on Aaron who burnt out and had to leave. It was obvious to those who know the car business and watched the show. Richard rode Aaron too hard and he had enough and Aaron has enough talent to do anything he wants.

Much what you said is true....but Aaron signed up for it didn't work any harder than many in America who get paid squat compared to him. Richard had an equal share of stress and hours, getting jobs, running and bank rolling a fast paced competitive business. I signed up to spend near 10 months a year out to sea and underwater serving in fast attack submarines during heights of the cold war, we hardly got to ever sleep, had several guys sharing a disgusting filthy greasy bunk, rarely showered , washed or changed clothes and spent 12 or more of every 18 hours in a 95-100 degree plus high humidity engine room. We didn't bitch cause we signed up for it, still that's easier than a Mom or Dad working 2 jobs then having to take care of kids, food shop, clean house, commute and repeat. So I beleive Aaron had a hard stressful demanding job, but there's many who have it much harder with no choice and little pay. I never feel sorry for rich reality show types, its their choice
@fios4me2 жыл бұрын
I think the real reason was Richard got a little to cocky for his real worth. His demands were too much for the network and he didn’t like the original agreements he signed early on. He went from $50,000 per episode to zilch. Other characters were just as important to the series as he was yet he fired them. Easy come easy gooooooooooo!

I remember watching the episode where Aaron put in his notice and thought "well, no more F&L for me." Richard alone was too much. Together they balanced it out. His eyes popped open when he saw I was a true tool & die maker and machinist who was a manufacturing engineer for Pratt & Whitney (Gas turbine engine manufacturer) for 12 years who used to build race boats, bikes and drag cars on the side....etc,etc. He said he didn't need anyone and said Aaron could figure out the CNC (with no experience and practical machining background???). Hence, I think he expected Aaron to everything that was hands on, so Ritchard can just run his mouth. He also indicated he paid everyone the same wage as well. That sent up a huge red flag. I took my resume back and never left contact info. I see that he still has the Haas covered in dust at the back of his shop. Expensive paper weight.

@@brianleboeuf8148 You obviously are Not a car enthusiast. We Love cars. We don't look a money when we see a car. We see passion that the owner has put into their rolling art. Richard is Not an enthusiast. He's a used car dealer. Go watch "counting cars" you'll see what I mean. BTW: Richard's show was Canceled.

@@davidmiller4594 if you just like to see other people's work, it make sense. If you are the one restoring or flipping cars, you have to work the numbers. There is always a budget. There is always a limit. It is always about the money.

Richard paid for a Trans am when he was high school with money he earned himself. He most certainly is a car guy. You "enthusiasts" like to romanticize cars and then ridicule other's who don't behave the same way you do.

Gas Monkey is, was the best car show period. Rawlings is an entertainer and the show was just that entertainment. Too many saying Aaron this or Aaron that, but he did virtually the same thing to every build.

Non disclosure agreements should be done away with.... tell everything and let the chips fall where they may... NDA;'s typically are requested by real SOB's that you want to avoid anyway.

Jesse James was right years ago about Rawlings

Muscle cars = fast as hell in a straight line, but go round corners like a double decker bus

When Aaron and Dennis Collins moved on from the Drama King, Richard was left with two things; his massive ego and an alcohol problem. Neither of which could build a car. Rich probably didn't even know how to use a wrench.

It's allways a Problem when someone really means he was the ONE and ONLY and the 👑 of creation and nothing goes without him. If this Point is reached, its the latest Time to show them the opposite which means show them the open Door and say let's give us a try wirhout you, bye bye man 👋.
