ZONEofTECH Apple will be fine and Tim Cook is a very good CEO. Jeff Williams has been chosen to lead the design team because he is a product person (he has lead the Apple Watch project) and operations is intrinsically part of the design and product dev. Jeff will also be Apple’s next CEO! Lastly the reason Tim reacted is not because he is trying to cover something up but because it clearly was upsetting to see people make such big judgements about what they know nothing about. I think your channel is very good but PLEASE don’t slip into the media story chasing frenzy we see the internet constantly doing. Step back and research but also maybe just present arguments of different facts and scenarios and do an analysis rather than speculate and make sweeping judgements when you have little to substantiate. Rather than suggesting who you think should be put in charge - ask why Tim Cook has really done it. It will lead to more interesting analysis. Also read some Twitter reactions from ex Apple designers who explain why operations is so important with the design.

They probably scrapped the iPhone SE design because I bet the 2020 iPhone will have that square design.. sadly, it seems as if Apple is about to plateau in terms of design..... shrink the bezels and you’re pretty much done. They need to focus hard on the foldable iPhone! Also, give us MacBooks with thinner bezels and a reliable keyboard!

Well.... I think after today I am even more confused about the direction at Apple.... Killed off the 12" MacBook? Throw out the MacBook Escape? Lowering prices on MBA and MBP? Something is telling me there is a going to be a big broo-ha going on in the executive rooms. Over time we will hear the real story and until that time I just follow the news, most of it is very difficult to follow so thanks for lining up the history.

I don't think he's left to make more money. I think he's likely to make less money and will be happy to make less. It's hard to earn more than an Apple CEO. He's probably left because either he's unhappy with the direction Apple is taking or he wants to design a greater range of products and not just phones and computers. Apple have failed before. A money man is important to make a company profitable but you don't make him the head guy if your sector is all about innovation with products that have short life cycles.

Tim Cook is more concerned about being a SJW than innovation at a technology company. No wonder Jony got frustrated and had enough.

@bttp0115 жыл бұрын
Yep, although a slightly improved version of the design, iPhone 5S, was truly the best phone at the time. iPhone 4, while looking great, still had that small 3,5" screen. 5S was a tad taller and much better for it. The last derivative of 5S, iPhone SE is still a very good phone, even supports the latest iOS 13. My daughter has it and it's great. Basically a 6S in a 5S body, with much better battery life than it's bigger brother 6S.

I've been hearing for years now that Apple is working on designs that will blow us away and it hasn't happened. The reason for Apple is "It just works" and its designs. Cooked killed the one and let the other leave. Apple only release emojis and AR/VR software which no one is using at the moment. Sure, continue to work on those, but what about Siri? What about getting the OSes really tight functionally? What about solid state batteries? What about micro LED? What about the Ax processor in Macs? What about underclass cameras? But hey, we really need those emojis and VR gear!!! 😡😡😡😡

4 years later...products? 2024 and the '2020' AR glasses are just coming out. My bro has been an Apple fanboy forever, so I started asking him 'what have they come out with beyond 'more pixels'...'well I like that'....'well, I don't'....Apple is becoming the establishment that Jobs was focused on disrupting. It's not just size, but mindset. I have visited some big companies who understood that design connection to the customer. Not everyone is only focused on price or features, this is how Japan took over so many industries. I have visited some of them too and they had think tanks and designers who led the way, the engineers were there to make it happen (and both sides were confident in that reality). Once operations lead first, 'fuhgetaboutit.'

If the iPhone had not been invented by Apple, would there be today a smart phone that we see used everywhere?
@danavram84375 жыл бұрын
The functional design issues are their greatest problems, like that butterfly keyboard. Otherwise, if a product's design does not change in some years, that's not necessarily a bad thing. For example, Porsche cars have pretty similar designs, some of them, even among decades. And the reason is - people love that design. Why fix what's not broken? The product could still be innovative in ways other than new looks. I.e: designing the chassis, so that more powerful components fit, etc.

Not a huge Tim Cook fan by any means, but you have to look at the history behind the manufacturing success of the iPhone4, in which Cook purchased all the available CNC Mills in the world in 2007 -08 and placed them on the floor in Chinese factories soley to mill out iPhone cases. That successful ramp is what put Apple where it is today in terms of a volume product at 10x profit margin of competitors. That kind of execution impressed Steve. He would never think anyone could replace him anyway. Even Ive. Sorry to say.
