@ChrisTopheRaz Жыл бұрын
This comment smells of internal bias. Johnny Ives, alongside of Steve Jobs, literally saved the company and changed the world. Not to mention that he thought just like Steve Jobs in the sense that product. Perfection is only one part appearance, and that functionality played a bigger role in the quality of the product. What you’re talking about sounds more like something that would come from Steve Jobs. In case you missed the infamous video where Steve speaks to an audience and gets heckled by an audience member about Java. He goes on to explain that apple prefers to build products based on what people need, not what they think they want. He was a visionary that sought into the future. Basically, he knew that there were technologies that wouldn’t last. I don’t disagree that that can be frustrating as a user, but it certainly was unlikely to be Johny we can blame for that.
@misterfreeze65454 жыл бұрын
He was once touted as the successor to Steve Jobs, and if he was running Apple instead of Tim, he probably wouldn't be leaving. But he was probably a much better fit as creative head of products, instead of worrying about all the other accounting and administrative stuff. As someone who worked at Apple, I can tell you, when Tim Cook took over, the company culture changed dramatically. The reason Apple's market value skyrocketed under Tim Cook, was because Steve Jobs didn't care about market value, and focused on customer experience. Tim Cook "Min/Maxed" customer experience in favor of getting market value to go up. Steve Jobs never, and would have never done that. The policies that Tim Cook implemented directly worked towards leveraging Apple's good name, and reputation for good customer experience to make more money while providing the least customer service possible without overtly damaging Apple's reputation beyond what marketing could hide.

It’s going to be a huge loss. He helped Steve Jobs, when he was reviving Apple in the late ‘90s. A lot of the beautiful Macs, iPods, iPhones, iPads, etc. have been designed by Jony Ive. I don’t know what they’ll do without him, and the products haven’t exactly been revolutionary each year, like they were from the late ‘90s to 2011. The design stays very similar. Like the iMac has had a very similar design for 10 years. But their products are good and solid. I’ve owned Apple products since 2007, starting with an iPod. Their products were always what you’d dream about owning, if you weren’t from a wealthy family. Then you’re an adult and you can invest thousands into buying into their ecosystem, like I have.

I would add that Apple's design aesthetic has changed very little in the past 10 years. iMacs, iPads, iPhones are locked into a predictable mix of aluminum and glass. Maybe buttons change, corners are more rounded, size differences, but we all know roughly what the next generation of each will probably look like. Compare that to the previous 10+ years of Apple and the wild designs of the iMac. I imagine Jony feels like he's done about all he can do. The Mac Pro was probably his last big project, since the previous trashcan design was so disliked, but what did it change to? They went back to the aluminum tower design. I think Apple is locked into this obviously very successful aesthetic and Jony's ready for a change.

ugh, this tim cook praising video is really hart to watch. let me get some fact straight. - Jony and Steve had the same Vision for the company. - Jony is the main reason that apple is the point where there are. Steve saw that potential. - Since Steve passed away Apple had no real invention. It is just a money printing machinery. - The last invention they let Jony finalize was the best Macbook ever. The Macbook 12". That should lead apple into a new are. But it was not making enough money at that time so they removed it again. - Since then you have never heard Jonys Voice in any Video anymore. - Jony said once that one of the reasons for his leave is that the company is not inovative anymore. - Apple will earn good money in the next few years. But their days are counted. - The only reason people buy iPhones is because Android sucks brutally. - The only reason people buy Macbooks is that there no quality alternatives out there. As soon the surfaces from MS will reach apple quality standard they will outrun Apple. - As soon Windows mobile is ready to go, iPhones will have no chance at all anymore. Jony I miss you and I am very very thankfull that you used your veto against Tim and gifted me with "The Macbook", I was waiting for years and I am using it every day from then. Need a new battery though. Wish there would be a "The Macbook 2", dude I would pay again 3k for that, and with Win 10 I would even pay 5k. Think about it.

The photo of Ive from LoveFrom looks like from a horror movie. Ive's mind has checked out many years ago.

cebotet Ive did design the 11. He’s leaving at the end of this year, which suggests that he was part of the design team
