My favorite Goblin card or better said Goblin in general is Slobad. Despite Glissa being the protagonist of Mirrodin, it's Slobad I got attached to the most. He's the reason, that I often consider being a Goblin as my first choice when thinking about a new D&D character. I love Slobad. He is an outsider. He is an underdog. And he might be the most compassionate character you might find in mtg lore.

The OG Krenko is a pretty badass card, not just mechanically, but from a lore perspective - here is a 'lowly' goblin who's not only managed to gain quite the notable following in fucking _Ravnica_ of all places, but he's also skilled enough to break into a Boros stronghold and free Feather, an angel under the _heaviest_ restrictions.

"Don't goblins dismember and disregard others of their kind all the time?" I don't even think it's that. I see goblin groups like a bunch of dumbass friends who get crazy ideas and they all jump at the opportunity to be a part of it. Why? Because it would be SO FREAKING FUN! Goblins have short lives, a lot of it self-inflicted. However, instead of worrying about it, they embrace it. And that fun, even if it ends in sacrifice, is gonna make an awesome story that'll be memorable for a long time. No one is gonna remember G'thunk, who just sat in the cave all day, but EVERYONE is gonna remember Wipple, who stole a dragon egg and made it halfway down the mountain, but then the dragon caught up to him and used its fire breath, cooking Wipple and accidentally setting off the black powder he just happened to have and blowing a big ass hole in the side of the mountain. Wipple Egg-Snatcher is gonna go down in history as a really awesome dude worthy of celebration, and is going to be the inspiration of many goblins afterwards. If you ain't having a good time, are you even really living?

Think an important aspect of red, is that with absence of the order of white and the rigid methodology of blue, red have limitless possibilities. To translate it into the medium of music: White will make poems that harmonize and weave tales of traditions and history albeit with little innovation to it. Blue will make contemporary fusion jazz, no one might like the tune, but the raw techniques can't be disputed and it is pushing the medium its limits. Red will invent a whole new genre and call it "neo-gabber-step", it might be the new best thing changing the world of music or just the best thing for red who created it, red doesn't really care.

Goblins are very different from eachother, the difference is bigger than the difference between human races. According to the laws of natural evolution, diferent bodies mean diferent evolution (different struggle, diferent climate, different diet, different way of surviving etc). Sometimes, creators forget It when they are creating fictional works.

Excellent analysis of my favorite MTG creature. I remember when I first played MTG and was introduced to the game by using a goblin deck (mono red) and at the beginning I observed how the goblins moved and how suicidal they seem even towards the player by having to take damage to do more damage towards the opponent or it’s creatures. The goblins thought me the importance of sacrifice and being able to take some pain in order to dish out a greater result at the end 😎🤙

Goblins are unruly, independent, chaotic, proactive, emotional, and fiercely defensive of their kin. Often they are stupid, but interestingly, none of their core traits mean they are. Honestly some of their more humorous self destructive methods and improper equipment seems to showcase they understand the ridiculousness of their practices and go out with a bang. They know engineering but utilize it towards explosions because it's fun and sometimes opt to inflate the toad instead of just using a normal war balloon. Because it's exciting and funny.

Many Goblins on Ravnica are a combination of Red and Blue, likely because of their association with the Izzet. One could rationalize this in saying that the environment of the Izzet League lends itself towards mad science; which the Goblin would flourish in. Other Goblins are associated with the RG Gruul Clans and the WR Boros Legion. After the Definitive Color series, I think a remake of or addition to videos like this would benefit from talking about all representations of a creature type and how multicolored versions redefine what it means to be a Goblin.

Goblins always have fun, with what they are doing. Living in a world of violence? Ok, let's do it. But do it in a fun way! Humans cope with death by humour. To me it always seem like gobbos are more passionate and emotional than you think. Riddicule death means also taking away the seriousness and the emotional impact. Humour takes intelligence. And the fact that gobbos are a tribe and commradery driven pack lets assume that they are way more social than many others. And this takes social intelligence. They are small and have to come up with ways of compensating their lack of physical strength, and boy do they so. And the biggest question is: why aren't gobbos green! I can only imagine that even mother nature is fed up with them beeing so chaotic, that green simply doesn't recognize them as one of its creatures and so they had to change their place in theworld and went for red. This was pure necessity, not a choice, but again they adapted. They aren't "fire" as one would imagine, but they can use fire to fit in this new category. And so they became more red, than even the dragon, embodyment of red, which is an accomplishment on its own!

I think it was more utilitarian, they just needed a base creature type for the "weenies" of each color. So you had man (white), elf (green), merfolk (blue), goblin (red), and undead (black). If it were based on 80's fantasy (like early D&D) goblins back then were not terribly clever or intelligent, they would be green (animalistic) or black (sadistic). Only with newer fantasy like Warcraft were goblins largely thought of as being capable or even gifted inventors whose fantastic machines could match those of humans or even dwarves.
