These games have some actually incredibly well-researched commentary. Despite the vast amount of anti-war stuff out there, I haven't actually really ever seen any of it criticize the Bush administration and the whole war with Iran based off of the same excuse until Helldivers. Same goes for the newly added termicide towers, which I believe are a reference to DEET (a bug spray given to soldiers that was found to be incredibly toxic).

i do enjoy that the treasonous approach to Helldivers content is still very much grounded within the setting, with the "THIS BROADCAST HAS NOT BEEN APPROVED BY THE MINISTRY OF TRUTH" message at the start, recounting the history of Super Earth like an actual history rather than fictional canon/lore, etc etc. one of the most powerful elements of the Helldivers community is the dedication to the bit when it comes to roleplaying, it really does feel like the developers, players, and content creators are all acting out the story of Helldivers together and I'm very excited to see people start to branch out and start playing the other side of the coin. looking forward to more dissidence against the Ministry of Truth and the lies of Managed Democracy, and i wish you luck in evading the Hellbomb currently being dropped on your grid coordinates by Super Earth loyalists as we speak!

I feel like Helldivers 2 would benefit from the Tanya the Evil form of narrative. For those who haven't watched it, Tanya the Evil takes place in an alternate version of WW1 with magic. In this series WW1 and WW2 kindof blend together. Tanya fights on the side of "The Empire" which is pretty much Germany. It's stated at the beginning of the story that the Empire will lose: much like in the real World Wars. Helldivers 2 can do something similar where Super Earth's genocidal thirst for conquest will result in it's downfall. Super Earth can be doomed to loose, then when they finally do Arrowhead can just reset the game board.

It’s what happens in Helldivers 1. I fully expect it to happen again in HD2. Either we will clear the Galactic map and “win” or we will fail to stop a push of one of our enemies all the way to super earth and “lose” It would be a great opportunity to refresh the game after a longer period of time. We keep the war bonds that we have paid for, but get reset on all our unlocks, and the great galactic war begins anew with some new twists.

I honestly would like Super Earth to lose the 2nd Galactic War. For 1 because they deserve it, 2 the internal contradictions of their own ideology breeds failure, and 3 it'd make for a more interesting story.

From what i heard the devs are aware of this and with the way the war is going, I can reckon that this will be the story for Helldivers, I hope we get a PVP mode where we get to play as Treasonists who fight back against the helldivers by partnering up with Automatons, Terminids, and Illuminates.

Even though there is zero hard evidence to support it, I like the theory that the hell divers of the player characters in HD2 are clones. The recruitment process is real, everyone is cloned, and those that show promise (actually survive) are cloned repeatedly. Every time you step out of a cryo pod, that’s a new clone being thawed out. Connecting to play with a friend is thawing out your clone on their super destroyer. Not only would this explain how any kind of military success would be possible, despite hell divers having such an abysmal survival rate, it also feeds the super earth propaganda machine. It’s easy for someone to be a legendary hero if you can combine the successes of all of their clones and conveniently ignore the times they died.

I prefer the 40k idea of having such massive amounts of people just living on top of eachother that you just can't run out of them. (Note how even the propaganda video shows rows upon rows of stock prefab block homes.) And that would absolutely be possible, if you look at the numbers. Not only is there also the Super Earth Armed Forces (SEAF) but if you look at the amount of Diver deaths vs. Automaton and Terminid deaths, and succesful operations, you can see that they check out.

Thanks for not following the tone of the rest of Helldivers content. The constant nonstop roleplay was funny at the beginning, but now its just annoying. Videos like this are refreshing and its nice to be able to learn the *actual* lore of Helldivers instead of some pseudo in-universe propaganda piece.
