What source material? What are you talking about? None of GoW is accurate to any source material. Have you read ANY of the source material? "He was as fair in appearance, when he came among other men, as when ivory is inlaid in oak. His hair is fairer than gold." - Snorri Sturluson writer of The Prose Edda. (y'know The Prose Edda, the actual Norse mythology source material you're talking about?) yeah, he could be how he was originally described in the old norse tales... OR you could IGNORE the actual myth and describe him as a tan, red headed, drunken Irish father who beats his children. Which sounds less like a myth and more like an angry militant with daddy issues writing about his issues. (Wait, did I just describe the entire GoW series?) I'll give you it's a fun game. Calling it mythologically accurate... to put it nicely it's insanely inaccurate. To be blunt, only an idiot would think that the game is accurate.

Let’s be honest, that opening fight between thor and kratos is one of the best the series had ever produced
@dylantorres-brown3718
@dylantorres-brown3718 Жыл бұрын
Let's be honest it's literally one of the worst fights. The intro to the fight was fucking perfect. The tension between Kratos and Thor was palpable, and Thor yeeting Kratos through the roof was honestly epic.... but then the fight proceeded and its mid, cutscenes were more talking than actual action that wasn't Thor flying Kratos around on his Hammer. I mean try this. "Fight between player controlled Kratos and Thor ends, cut scene starts with them still fighting, Thor throws Mjollnir at Kratos which lands and knocks Kratos back up against the wall partially crushing him into the ice. Kratos is pinned, held by Mjollnir. Thor continues his dialog, recalling Mjollnir. Kratos then falls off the wall into a kneeling position, breathing heavy trying to catch his breath. Then Thor gives his "All-Father has plans for your son" line. The camera pans over to Kratos's face as he says that and you can see the angry growing inside. Suddenly Kratos busts into rage and leaps towards Thor with surprising speed, but Thor was ready, and he throws Mjollnir. Time slows as the hammer approaches the enraged Kratos, and in his rage.. Kratos punches Mjollnir. But Kratos knows he can't muscle through Mjollnir, so he punches downwards changing the trajectory of the hammer. As the hammer angles downwards, Kratos rolls off his punch and spins over the Hammer. Time returns to normal as Kratos lands and launches himself again towards Thor The camera snaps to Thor's face, this was not what Thor expected. He is momentarily stunned by what he witnessed but regains his senses and tries to step back, also recalling the hammer.... but it's too late. Time slows down again, camera angle shifts so we can see Kratos extending to punch Thor as Mjollnir tries to catch Kratos from behind but it doesn't make it in time. Kratos lands a devastating right hand that sends Thor flying backwards and knocks out his tooth. Times returns to normal as Thor is sent flying... Kratos still extended from his punch, knows Mjollnir his coming in behind him and dips his head and chest just as Mjollnir passes over his head barely missing Kratos as it returns to Thor, who doesnt catch Mjollnir and both crash into the wall. Then Thor regains himself and flys off" And that's not even the best I could come up with. Pretty much all the boss fights I'm GoWR could have been way better.

@NoahWithAGun to much.... bro he battled Posideon who was in a Gigantic Water Horse/Serpent WHILE battling on the back of a Titan and they were still having a conversation, then he ends up ripping Posideon out of the Horse/Serpent, bashes his face in repeated as he's trying to get back into the ocean, Kratos beat Posideons face in until it was red mush and after he killed Posideon he kicked his corps over the edge back into the ocean with body language saying "Now you can go back to ocean" Where exactly was my description "Too Much"? And how was the cutscenes we got with Thor anywhere near as epic and badass as what we got in previous games? Please don't lean on the crutch of "Kratos is changed" because yes he's changed. Doesn't mean he can't dish out a brutal ass beating before letting them live Also the reason we didn't get use Mjollnir is because the devs said "That's too predictable" which is such a stupid answer as Kratos always takes new weapons to upgrade is arsenal plus everybody was waiting for Kratos to get the hammer cause it would be fucking badass... but because the lead dev was trying to be some cringy edge lord he decided not. So the "Predictably cringy" answer is the most piss poor excuse anybody could give for not making the game as epic as it could be

He didn’t “once eat two goats as a snack” he ALWAYS ate two goats as a snack. He had a pair of magical goats that pulled his chariot but could also be slaughtered and revived the next morning, so he constantly did that. There’s a story where while staying with a peasant family, he cooked his two goats and shared the meat with the family, but one of the children broke open one of the goats leg bones to eat the marrow. This made the goat lame(unable to walk) when it was resurrected so Thor took the peasants’ two children as servants.

Thor in myth is a mix between the two. He's very violent, loves a good fight and to crush his enemies. But he also cares for the people under his protection, that includes humanity. He will defend the people under his care with great ferocity, no matter if it is their lives or their honour that's being threatened. He doesn't react well to insults or broken trust, and his short temper can make such things dangerous, but if someone offers compensation he will quickly calm down and accept it. He has a strong sense of honour. When the Asir and Vanir waged war Thor took great issue with the dirty methodes the Asir used, especially when they sent the Vanir a useless hostage as part of the peace agreement. Thor is a honest man. He isn't cold but a very upbeat guy with lots of charisma which is regularly seen in the myths. He jokes with his friends (of which he has many), he happily shares food and drink with you, is very sociable and a fun guest to have over if you don't mind rowdy people. His hammer isn't just heavy but does hold powerful enchantments though is not the source of his power. Thor before being sent to Earth in the comics and movie somewhat resembles myth Thor but isn't quite right either.

Marvel Comics are more accurate to the Eddas than GoW. You wanna debate me on that? Most of the stories involving Thor from the Eddas are in Marvel Comics, including the Thrym's Bride story. Thor serves the same function in the comics as he does in myths. He protects Asgard and mankind, and goes into conflict only when duty calls or when he's provoked. He's a good husband and a good father, unlike GoW's take. Oh, and his hair does turn red once he grows older. Lord of Asgard run shows it.

Thor in mythology is still the protector of mankind and does take an interest in the lives of the common man. He was described to usually be very nice and jolly unless angered ( which I'm sure was not that difficult to do, to be fair). But he was also a super heavy eater and drinker. He was said to have a beard that was red like fire and that when he would get mad, his eyes would turn red as well. It's definitely not clear as to whether he looked like a strongman or a body builder, though. He might have eaten and drank a lot, but he's also a God, so who knows, but neither Marvel nor GoW have perfect mythological representations of Thor.

Thor in mythology actually had bracers made to wield Mjölnir known as Járngreipr "Iron grippers". Also Thor wears a belt that doubled his strength called Megingjörð meaning "Power belt" . Mjölnir not only is too heavy for him to wield, it also has a shaft too short to be used effectively (Due to Loki disguised as a serpent attacking the dwarf forging the hammer) Thor also needs these 2 artefacts to actually wield Mjölnir. GOW Ragnarok did Thor really well, you can actually see him wearing the bracers and the belt.

Bro really compared a comicbook character to a video game character with a completely different storyline

They're both based off the same mythos. Didn't you watch the video?

GoW Thor isnt ugly imo. He just doesnt care about looking sloppy. He's a warrior; a destroyer. Looking good is at the bottom of his list of priorities.

I love that in norse mythology Mjolnir is just super fucking heavy. No “If you’re worthy” bullshit, It’s just “If you can even lift this shit good for you”. Not only that but in norse mythology, YOU DONT EVEN GET HIS POWERS! YOU JUST HAVE A REALLY HEAVY ASS STRONG HAMMER!

@@alimakawi1612 I think he's talking about marvel comics eventhough the comics thor is far more superior to GOW thor. but the marvel movie versions are definitely a lot weaker than GoW gods.
