From personal experience, I feel as if I have more strength, stamina, and willpower when I'm wearing it. Placebo? Possibly, but wearing it makes me feel good, and honestly I think that’s all that matters.

Placebo affect is exactly that. I wear my father's wedding ring and rub it when frightened, it calms me somehow makes me feel he's by my side saying everything is ok. If something brings you strength and/or peace then do what works for you

@@britvic4334 I agree, somewhat. But to imply something is placebo is also to imply that the “boon” it gives us, so to speak, is only real in imagination. Which I like to think that certain spiritual jewelry, like Mjolnir, help us connect to the energies and spirits of the universe that’re all around us, and that wearing them is not purely some trick of the mind. I don’t what your thoughts about that are. Curious to know other people’s perspectives.

@OdinsOutlaw for me placebo can mean it's all in your head, you're giving it the power to support you if that makes sense? Sorry it probably doesn't and I wasn't being belittling saying it's a placebo at all. I believe objects even scents can bring on so much strength and emotions it's actually fascinating what they can do for each individual. If someone is intent on it being BS then they will completely close off to it no matter what but when we're open minded and have an interest/passion for something like this it has deeper meaning. Like my father's ring, it's safety &love when I need it. I feel he's holding my hand through life, that's drives me on in a more positive way. Plus it makes me smile. ☺️

@@britvic4334 I don't feel belittled at all, don't worry, was just curious on your opinion, and felt the need to explain mine :p And yes that makes a lot of sense, though I do disagree and that is okay. I think the human mind certainly has amazing capabilities, and we can do things with our minds that most people probably wouldn't be able to believe. However at the same time, I do believe the human mind can't do everything and that some of these magical/spiritual jewelries, whether it be a Mjolnir, or a Crucifix, help us tap into forces and energies outside ourselves in order to invoke certain spiritual boons upon ourselves.

I have been wearing my Mjolnir for 10 years now, it was handmade by a friend who made cast sterling silver jewelry. It is heavy, but I love it. I don't feel the same if I take it off. I definitely think it gives me energy and a feeling of protection. It is my most worn talisman next to my Freyja pendant.

Glad you're feeling better. In Afghanistan, I carried gemstones (carnelian, tiger's eye, rose quartz) in the small pouch behind my kevlar body armour plate to help me be courageous, an effective leader and to carry the love and protection of my wife and family. I believe they helped me. Reality and activity follows thought and feelings, so I like to think I manifested courage, fortitude and good fortune. I believe the same principle applies to the wearing of Mjolnir pendants.

I mentioned this in a comment earlier, I guess I have a sort of “cringe” mjolnir that’s Celtic by design. I’m Scandinavian and can’t really afford an expensive one at the moment so it’s all I could do. It’s not the design or price, it’s how you wear it and whether it’s meaningful or not to pagan culture.

I've also notice that when ever I wear my Mjölnir pendant when we have thunderstorms in the UK is that I never get struck by lightning even though I wear gold and silver jewellery.

I loved this one and I just ordered one of your hammers! I can’t wait to get it. I love that it comes from Norway and the history of it and the fact that it works for you. I get a lot out of your channel I learn a lot about my own heritage from Norway. Since my grandfather came to United States as a child a lot of the back history of Norse history was not really discussed, except about the ship industry which is what my great grandfather did. He was involved in some of the exploration ships back in the 1800s including the Gjoa. Interesting stuff there. Eventually they got tired of Norway, they were living up Tromso, arctic circle. Very cold…then they came to the United States first to Alaska and then to California. I’m now in Wisconsin and there’s a lot of Scandinavian history especially in northern Wisconsin and Minnesota as you know.

Yes I have a Mjolnir i have not worn it for a very long time can't say if it helped with my health as I was fine all the years that I worn it, but now I have health problems maybe its time I put it back on. I have been thinking so much over the last few months to make a wooden one I know it might sound strange but when I make things put time and energy into them I feel they have something special about them.
@blakey9089

Considering most Pagans are very animistic. i believe it's very likely mjolnir and similar pendants may have begun as wood carved items and as time went and wealths, techniques and resources changed items were mostly golds, silvers, iron etc. We can't really find many of these things since how well wood breaks down over time. I believe when it comes to pendants based from animism, made by yourself or someone close is always best, next is the place he has linked us to where they are made from and by the people closer to our origins last option is always that cheap crazy ebay stuff he showed. Personally I'd never wear something for meaning if it's made in China. Wooden jewellery is stunning, I made homemade wood finger rings with a drill as a lathe and a dremel to shape them. Simple yet it works. I hope your health improves.

I got rid of all of my old purchased Mjolnir necklaces, or broke them down to use their parts for other things. Instead, I have a hand-made wooden Mjolnir made from a gorgeous looking blend of mahogany and pine on a leather cord. The one I always wear, however, is my Odin pendant. I used a large chain necklace my wife gave to me when we first met, a metal loop from a Mjolnir necklace she got me for my birthday, a connector from a spearhead necklace she got me for our anniversary, and finally a pendant depicting Odin riding Sleipnir while Huggin and Muninn fly overhead, that I picked up at a local renaissance fair. That one came to me in quite an interesting moment of inspiration and creativity as I had them all laying out in front of me, wondering what the Hel I was going to do with them because I dont tend to change up my jewelry very often, and generally wear the same one or two pieces constantly.

My then girlfriend ( now wife) bought my hammer at a local hippie shop when she and I were on a date in our junior year in high-school in 2010. She knew my family heritage from my grandfather and that most of his family was from Norway and Sweden. So she gave it to me and I can only think of one time I have taken it off. I even had it on my dog tags when I was in the service and none of my nco's or commanding officers had a problem with it. I still wear it to this day, it's a pewter one about 1/8"-1/4" thick and nearly the size of an amarican quarter with some Celtic knot work reverse casted into it. If it ever wears out or is lost then I would ask my beautiful wife to maybe get me a nice bronze one like yours. Thanks for the video brother!

@hyperguyver2
@hyperguyver2 2 жыл бұрын
@@mmw3734just felt like that "cringe" statement needed to be called out as I believe it comes from a place of artificial and superficial superiorty. It doesn't matter where the jewelry is made, it's what it means to the wearer and the sympathetic magic it's shape and design invokes. The general shape of an object awakens those ancient memories because of how imbedded its iconography is, as well as a conduit for those specific energies.

It comes down to the question of who you trust to give you the most genuine representation of the germanic belief system? An actual pagan who made the mjolnir at the time it was practiced or people in China who googled mjolnir and made a necklace based on their marvel search results?

From what I have learned, the oldest Mjolnir (worn as a pendant/necklace) to date comes from Immenstedt in Germany dated 8th or 9th century. I'll copy/paste the portion of the article from Roter Geysir's archaeological site. Sven is a practicing Heathen from Germany who researches these things. If you have info on an earlier hammer, please share it. I'd love to learn more. "Finally, there is another remarkable Thor’s hammer find from Dithmarschen on the German North Sea coast, which today is almost completely forgotten. During the excavation of the Immenstedt burial site in 1880, a bronze Thor’s hammer (Fig. 9) was found strung along a chain of coloured pearls. It was located in the neck area of a female inhumation grave in tumulus 14 P. The extremely fragile find was carefully excavated along with the surrounding soil, but unfortunately it largely disintegrated into dust because it was touched too early during the conservation process. The fact that this extraordinary find was recorded at all is a great stroke of luck, because the responsible excavation team headed by Johanna Mestorf did groundbreaking work for their time. Thus the original form and size of the Thors hammer was drawn in advance and even the coloured pearls were pulled back onto a string in the correct order. Mestorf herself has explicitly guaranteed the correctness of this work.26 Under the excavation conditions customary at that time, the Thor’s hammer of Immenstedt would otherwise certainly have been destroyed during the excavation process without any chance of being preserved for posterity. Thanks to the diligence of the excavators, however, it has been documented together with its context in a way that is still verifiable today. And this context is quite astonishing, because the burial is dated to the 8th or early 9th century27 and shows without any doubt that the Thor’s hammer was worn around the neck as a pendant. Thus, the Thor’s hammer of Immenstedt is nothing less than the oldest evidence for these pendants worn as a necklace ever found. At the same time, it is also the oldest Thor’s hammer with the “classical” short handle, which is typical for Denmark and Sweden; only that this specimen from Northern Germany is several generations older than comparable pieces from the north. Furthermore, there is no evidence that the deceased could have emigrated from Scandinavia to Immenstedt. On the contrary: the south-north orientation of the burial (with the head in the south and the feet in the north) clearly points to the Old Saxons, for whom this burial practice is virtually a defining part of their identity. The Thor’s hammer of Immenstedt is thus undoubtedly one of the most important key finds for this early period even if there are no other comparable finds with a similar dating so far."

From my personal experience the hammer I currently own is honestly the most beautiful hammer I've ever seen because it represents both Thor and Odin. In my practices I find I am closer to Odin than any other, though I also have good relations with Thor. My hammer has a raven skull on it and while it's not traditional, nor based off any historical hammer, I had dreams about this hammer the night after I originally came across it on eBay. It was perfect because yes I had an older hammer that was in poor shape plus a cheaper version of the raven helm also in poor shape but eventually I wanted to replace both and this hammer essentially was 2 in 1. It has been just as good for my connection to Thor as it has been for Odin. I honestly feel that's it's intended use. Honestly don't knock anyone that gets more modern designs although I do agree there are some I don't like. Also before anyone asks it was ordered from a page here in the USA. I would love to know the origins of this hammer. Who originally did design it? Perhaps I'll never know. If it honestly works for someone then I see no reason to complain. Plus though it's pretty cringy I admit, one who is in the broom closet and doesn't want religion discussed can wear marvel's version of a hammer. It's unfortunate but here in the US there's still alot of Pagans that need to hide themselves. It's a joke to call this country the land of the free and that's just the damn truth but I won't go any farther down that rabbit hole.

My first ever chain that had symbolic meaning towards the ancient norse/germanic culture was when I went to Santorini with my gf and I saw a guy a bit besides the beach who was selling jewelry, we went up to him and I saw one, one vegvisir ring. My gf knows about my passion for the germanic/norse culture as we both are swiss and I preached to her all about our history and origin and basically converted her as she was into nature religion aswell (mostly native american, because she didn't even know our ancestors had a similair animistic religion. Anyways she insisted on buying me the vegvisir ring made of sterling silver and as the ring was to big for my fingers I clocked it on to my chain and wore it as a necklace. I've always felt empowered by it and it gave me strenght and happiness whether I went for a running session in the forest, to muay thai training or to study. My gf had an internship that started a few months back abroad so I decided to givr her my vegvisir chain with the meaning that I will always be by her side aswell as the gods. Ever since my hapiness didn't go down nor my strenght but I felt some sort of emptiness, like something is missing, besides my gf as we see us on the weekends. I decided this saturday to buy a thor pendant from grimfrost made from sterling silver and I'm happy to see more and more shops with ancient historic jewelry that have meaning to the people looking for it. I will buy one of your thors hammer for sure as a sign of support and because they are what I'm looking for. This is my story on norse/germanic pendants and animism in that regard, keep up the grind and greetings from german speaking switzerland🇨🇭

As long as you know the Vegvisir is not an ancient Germanic/Nordic/"Viking" symbol though, more power to you! It seems many do not realize it originates in the 1860s and is more Christian than anything else. Our Heathen and "Viking" ancestors would have no idea what it was if you went back in time and showed it to them. I believe many confuse the Vegvisir with the Ægishjálmr (Helm of Awe), which actually IS attested to in the Poetic Edda, and would be recognizable to our Heathen ancestors 1000+ years before the Vegvisir was ever drawn.

If Mjølner symbolises the heart and the heartbeat, that pumps blood into our veins, the very veins that bare the shape of lightning, does that explain why Tor in mythology is described as having red hair, as the red hair could be a symbol of blood. And on the topic of necklaces, I would advise investing in small pendants as they are more easy for daily wear, then perhaps a larger one for special occasions.

My mjolnir was brought for me and gifted to me by my 10 year old son with a lot of thought and help from his mum and I wear it every day with pride and it does help me with a lot more strength and energy to keep fighting

Yes. A thunderstone is a prehistoric hand axe, stone tool, hammer, which was used as an amulet to protect a person or a building. (The name derives from the ancient understanding that the object was found at a place where lightning had struck.)

I do have a bronze Mjølner, but wear a bronze representation of Njord in a ship on a daily basis, as he and the other Vaner resonate much more with me.

I love your videos so much as a Slavic pagan, considering we have the same gods just in different forms. I do tend to wear Norse or Celtic pagan jewelry mostly because there isn’t much known or things out there to buy as far as Slavic paganism. ❤️

Thanks for this. I see those cheap pieces everywhere. I am an artist, so if I do end up choosing to wear one, ill likely make my own. Who knows, maybe it would heal my heart condition

I have a beautiful Mjolnir that I accidentally dropped.. It had a steel base and a turritella Agate gemstone for the hammer. When it shattered, I definitely felt like my heart broke. It ruined me for a few days. 😞

I think it's interesting, almost all mjölnir pendants found have been associated with female burials. Although, I will say that even as a male, I have had a very positive experience wearing one, and do so daily.

For me I wear the Skåne Mjøllnir for my heart health and I never take it off no matter what until the day I die it then will be passed on to my son, also my ex wife was having issues getting pregnant and well I wore my first Mjøllnir and oddly enough we had our first and only daughter and more than likely I was wearing that same one when I got my son's mother pregnant and my boy now has that one so Thor's hammer could be use for fertility.

I have something of a comparable experience, granted I wear one of cheaper material but when I got covid while it was nasty it was far better in comparison to all of my friends who were largely unable to walk when they got it and the day I got out of isolation I was able to his 4×180 kilos on Deadlift, I haven't really had any long term negative effects, I know a shit ton of people who lost a lot of weight when they got it but I didn't lose any weight. Granted it's a virus that's affected millions and could well be the case that my experience in fact reflects the majority, that and I am an incredibly fit young man but I do find the parallels striking especially since I never take my necklace off

Ok- bear with me.. so recently their has been a scientific study that has proven that we potentially live in a virtual reality- and I was reviewing the Norse myths and had a bit of an epiphany.. one common theme and always expressing the importance of when you die..to have one’s sword or axe in hand when they die. If we truly do live in a virtual reality- having a metal item in one’s hand makes them a bit more conducive as we are uploaded/reincarnated. The metal helps to ensure that we have a conductor upon us, neck/hand so that if something happens- and no sword is in hand at least you still have your jewelry..

Hey guys, new to the norse pagan path, like very new lol I have a question though. I was thinking about constructing my own mjolnir pendant, one for me and my son, and I thought it would be a good idea to build one out of oak wood. Now that I've watched this video I'm wondering if I should possibly try carving stone instead for my project? Maybe it doesn't really matter. Thought I'd ask anyway.

Interesting a Mala is also a Hindu's prayer beads. Etymology. From Malay mala-, from Old Javanese mala-, from Sanskrit मल (mala, “dirt, filth, impurity”), from Proto-Indo-European *melh₂- (“black”).
