I love Rephr! I have a good collection of their brushes. I have a story to tell you about the owner. About a year ago I ordered one of their collections and my husband approached me the next day about bills for the month. Well, I felt terrible that I had placed this order. I sent Rephr an email to unfortunately cancel my order. The owner reached out and asked me why I was canceling my order and I told him exactly what had happened. He said, I’m sending this set to you FREE of charge! I actually had tears in my eyes and thanked him. I’m trying to pay that kindness forward. I will never forget that. 💜

Thank you for your transparency, Morgan. I, for one, was wondering why so many creators pushed these brushes. I am a Sonia G. and Wayne Goss fan. But you explaining the quality of the brushes in addition to rephr being a company that treats people well actually has made me more likely to try out rephr brushes in the near future. Kindness and respect are very important values of mine and I try to patronize businesses that share these values. Great video, Morgan. You are a bright star 🌟 in the beauty community.

As I live in Europe, Rephr brushes are in my opinion the most easily available for natural haired brushes. As you've said, lot's of people push and promote Rephr brushes and it might be a much but at least the information/ review on Rephr brushes are there for people to make up their own mind. I would love to order the Sonia G, Wayne Goss or Hakuhodo brushes, but the costs of the import duties/ taxes and tariffs always make me change my mind. A brush brand that I am very interested in Europe who offer synthetic, natural or mix brushes is Laetitia Lemak, however there isn't that much info on them. So that is why I usually just go back to Rephr. The order process, price for the quality, customer service, is all very satifactory. Do you know where the Modular Vanity pieces are made?

I appreciate you adding that intro. Rephr has been raved about by so many creators and when I purchased my first few brushes I was unhappy because I didn't think they compared to Chikuhodo, Koyudo, Sonia G, etc in terms of quality and shape maintenance. It seemed only worth it at a discount to me. However, I did find that putting them in a brush guard solved the problem of them blooming far too much. And I kept trying other styles and shapes and eventually found a few that impressed me. Even a few of the brushes I didn't like at first, I ended up finding a place for them in my collection. The fact that they continue to take the feedback of customers to create new variations is why I didn't give up on the brand and continued to see what else they'd come up with. And because they've continued to give lower cost options. Overall, my opinion of them went from bad to fairly positive over the past year or two and it has the potential to get even higher if they continue the way they are now. I already made my newest purchase earlier this morning. lol.

Which brushes do you recommend?
@UnboxLili88
@UnboxLili88 2 жыл бұрын
@@xoxjelloxox I prefer rephr's face brushes over the eye brushes, just because I have similar styles from other brands that perform as well but are softer on my sensitive eyes. But if you're looking for eye brushes, 13 is great for detailed crease work. The other eye brushes I tried are 12 (a bit too rough for me), 15 and 16. The only reason I don't like 15 and 16 is purely because they're really large for my eye shape. Face brushes though, the 05 is great for blush, particularly if you don't want a lot of pigment at a time. Something a little airier. My favorite though is 24 because it's denser so I'm able to use it with sheerer blushes to pack it on or blushes that are a bit more hard pressed in the pan. It's also great for blending bronzer as well. In fact, I bought another one of 24 to give my sister as a gift. The only other face brushes of theirs I've tried are 17 and 19. 17 I use as a backup sculpting brush. The bristles are shorter than I would have liked but it's decent. And 19 is ok. Not special but not bad either. Overall though, I think is long as the shape of the face brush is appealing, you can't go wrong.

I’m so glad for all you have to share about Rephr. They treat their customers the exact same way. One thing that has greatly helped me keep my brush shaped is gently wringing out the majority of the water with 1st a microfiber towel then a paper towel. Then I make sure to shape them. Next I make 100% sure I dry my brushes upside down until they’re 109% dry. I’ve made a devise out of a brush roll and elastic. But my brushes hang upside down for the entire drying process.

I honestly get why Rephr has been raved about by creators. It’s unheard of to find fude at this price point. To me, it doesn’t matter that they “aren’t as good” as Sonia G or Wayne Goss brushes (both of which I’ve tried) because the average consumer can’t afford Japanese made brushes. Now, of course, these are still pricey for many, but compared to Sonia G, Wayne Goss, Chikuhodo, Koyudo, etc. these are quite inexpensive. I’ve also seen their customer service at work, as well as appreciate the unique brush shapes they create with the help of their consumers. To me, I don’t mind seeing Rephr being pushed regardless if they are the best of the best or not (and I consider them to be pretty great!). It’s dishonest brands with no integrity that creators rave about that frustrates me even if they have great products. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Edit: I know they made a mistake at the beginning but I don’t believe in writing people off, especially when they’ve worked to make it right.

My REPHR brushes are the first REPHR launched and I'm still very happy with them. I have 6 Wayne Goss brushes and 2 brushes by Sonja G which I love, but with REPHR brushes I get good quality for an affordable price. Some Colourpop brushes and other cheap synthetic brushes I use regularly also. Every brush has its purpose and like Mel Thompson taught me that even some pressed expensive eyeshadows can only be used with a synthetic brush. Now I know how to use the right brushes for my Mothership I and V.

omg SO SO glad the rephr holiday stuff has been released now! however, I do know that rephr doesn't have the greatest reputation in the community outside of creator space. they're very "mansplainy" from what I have heard online. That being said, I don't believe in blaming people just because of their privileges. Yes, they were outsiders, but from what you and others have said, it doesn't seem like they were purposely being rude. I have to respect their hustle and how they are always iterating. Plus, love for Kumano Japan! They never take away from the Japanese craftsmanship and/or pass it off as their own. I might be giving them a try this year, finally!

You can get 12 very good quality brushes for less than thirty dollars from BH Cosmetics. And they stand up to washing. I dry them with the handles slightly higher than the brush layed out flat. I put something under the handles to angle the ferrel downward so water doesn't get up inside the brush. I shape the brush and then allow them to dry. I have some brushes that are a decade old with bamboo handles from Real Techniques. I got some Alamar brushes in a Boxy Charm that fell apart after just a few washes! They were valued at $20.00 for three brushes. The whole brush head just pulled out of the handle.

There are definitely decent brushes at a much lower price point. My personal favourites are zeova and sigma brushes, especially if there’s a sale going on, as they’re not as expensive as Japanese handmades, but they’re still a bit of a splurge for the average consumer. Having said all this, bh cosmetics brushes are good, but not amazing. IMO Zoeva and sigma are excellent, and cheaper brushes just do not compare once you’ve tried the better brands.

I hear you. I at first was even using craft brushes. But I did not want to buy from China anymore. This lead me into the world of fude, and I have enjoyed it ever since. I don't own rephr brushes. I do own mostly Sonia G. brushes. These are softer on my skin and do a great job with my products. I like the back story of the brushes....the craftsmanship. Perhaps try one of a shape that really intrigues you.
@jaycreswell7008

I have mostly Zoeva (among Dior, Nars, Jane Iredale, Tarte, Bobby Brown and a few others) as well as the Réphr core set. I don't own any other Fude brushes, WG, SG etc. ANY brush that's half decent can do the job, the difference is how easily they get the job done, how they pick up and disperse product. The Réphr are the softest brushes I have and they have excellent pick up without needing to swirl or dig too much and if the powder is soft pressed or loose they don't pick up too much (no need to "tap off"). Then when you go to blend, they are cut so that they create a blended edge in one swipe (as opposed to "lay it down" then go back in to blend the edges). They apply product more evenly, that is they don't create a "spot" of colour where you first place the brush that you then have to blend out, instead they lay a steady stream of colour that fades evenly out as you swipe. They do a lot of the work for you. Zoeva are great, hence why I have so many, but the Réphr are just a whole level up in terms of smooth, fast, easy, mistake proof application.

Unfortunately their online presence at the start has left a bad taste in my mouth. Their entire pitch was them being MALE engineers that were very vocal about never having used makeup and having no experience in the beauty industry, while simultaneously claiming that they were here to show us makeup buyers how to buy/use makeup brushes "correctly". I know they've since apologised for their earlier comments but it was just super patronising and off-putting IMO.

I was totally put off them at first for the exact same reason. Then Rephr apparently noticed my brush declutter video where I totally roasted their brushes and they reached out sending me replacements in case they were defective, and a couple of new ones to see if they would be more friendly for monolids. I was really surprised at how interested they were in my criticism so I was very happy to give them more feedback, which again they really appreciated and they happily sent the holiday collection my way. I can see that they have changed their tune significantly and I can say for sure most brands would be totally pissed off at my roast but Rephr maintains an active interest in my reviews whether positive or negative and I can respect that. Particularly that they even care about the friendliness of their shapes for monolids, an eye shape that is basically ignored by 99% of the makeup industry.

I love Rephr! When they first released their products, I bought the travel sized collection. I have horrible eyesight which means that I do my makeup very close to my mirror. Full length brushes often hit my mirror and the travel sized handles do not. I messaged them about ordering a #02 brush with a travel sized handle (not offered online) and they accommodated me and sold me the brush. I'm not sure if they would do that now because I could always use more brushes. :)

As an avid follower of makeup KZbin, I appreciate your transparency. It’s cool to know more about Rephr. I bought their brushes a while back and I. LOVE. THEM. Plus, their customer service is top notch. I’ve had no issue with them losing their shape or shedding - but I do use a brush guard and am very careful with my brushes. I’m a huge fan. I know their early marketing put off some people, but I think they’ve shifted their stance significantly. I’ll keep buying rephr brushes in the future - I can’t wait to look at the sale!!

I also hate the way they presented themselves as some male engineers with no idea about makeup that come to fix the problem. I believe Temptalia didn't review any brushes from them for this reason. Our of curiosity I ordered a few to try. I think their brushes are ok but way too over hyped. It is definitely much better than a morphe brush. But I personally prefer brushes from Hakuhodo. They have a lot of affordable option, and they a lot of small eye brushes if you are looking for those. They have sooooo many different size that sometimes it is quite difficult to choose from. I think if you can get the Rephr face brushes at around $30-40 it is pretty good deal. For the eye brushes I think Hakuhodo offers better option for similar or slightly higher price.

Brush 21 it's the best of their type in the market. They are in fact more affordable, but are certainly pretty good. Bring an engineer it's not a problem if they are doing the proper research as they did. It will be the same as Thousands of people that study business and start any business, that might know very little in the field were they business is, don't need to be experts to start a business, so I'm sorry but that opinion it's not week support it.

@@brendamoreno4345 yes I think some of the face brushes are pretty good deal if they are in the $30-40 range. I'm not sure what is the usual price or discount for the brush 21, but it is marked as $110, which reminds me another thing that I really hate is that, they always mark up their price and then heavily discount them. If it is $110 I would definitely go for japanese fude company driectly. But I know nobody is getting it at $110.

@@iamsaisai you are confusing the brush dear. Brush 21 is not a face brush. It is price at 24 dollars and has been on sale for a long time ($15 you can get it for). It is a shimmers shader brush of a blend of hairs natural with synthetic. Basically the replacement/ dupe for the Mac 242. This was Mel Thompson one of her favorites brushes.

Appreciate the honesty especially regarding quality. Seen loads of reviewers gloss over this and it is the most vital element of any brush review! I have a fair number of Fude brushes from a wide variety of brands and I would certainly not place Rephr any where near the upper tier with regards to their brush quality, this includes bristles and ferrules. More like top of the bottom tier, so way better than the likes of Zoeva who also use natural hair bristles but certainly not on par with the likes of Koyudo, Chikuhodo, Kyureido, Bisyodo Houkodou etc. Rephr to me are my entry level day to day workhorse brushes, which funnily enough makes them some of my most used in my collection. I have also purchased some Chinese natural hair brushes from AliExpress, ShouShouLang brand being one that I was quite impressed with.

Thanks for the insights. I am breaking into the Fude market but our access in Australia is limited (shipping is horrific and spending so much when I can't see the brush is hard). My collection is presently dominated by Zoeva but I have the Réphr core set and they are better. Do you have a favourite? I have very small, hooded eyes so always looking for small brushes.

I'm not used to you being so serious! 😂 Hey another tip on the cleaning/losing their shape issue... I was using a bar brush soap to clean mine and they got really wild. Then I saw a thing about washing brushes in Dove liquid body wash and once I tried it I haven't looked back! It really helps condition the bristles. And when I squeeze the water out, I gently reshape them inside a microfiber towel, like sort of rolling and gently pulling.

I’ve been impressed by Rephr. I love my Sonia G and Wayne Gods brushes but the OG are Hakuhodo - they’ve got a long and distinguished history of making and selling Japanese handmade, artisan brushes at a very reasonable price given the quality and they’ve got an unbelievably huge range of brushes with different hair types. I think they’re still the cheapest on the market and amazing quality - I’ve had mine for over 10 years and they’re still perfect

Something that I do for my natural hair brushes for painting or makeup is casting them in aloe vera after I wash and semi blot them dry. The aloe helps to keep their shape longer and helps to condition the bristles. I have had some natural watercolor brushes for over two decades because I always cast them after use.
