The Reality Of Doing An Oil Change | Honda CRF250R

My first bit of dirt bike maintenance is performing an oil and oil filter change as well as an air filter clean on my Honda CRF250R because I don't want it to blow up. Easy but important!

Pro-tip for people in comments, next time you finish a soap with the pump dispenser, keep the dispenser part. You can use it to remove any excess oil if you do over-do it, plus it doesn't cost anything.

You need to do oil changes every 5-7.5 hours. If you don't have one, get an hour meter. And you should probably also get an air filter cleaning kit, it makes it 10 times easier. (I'm a dirtbiker myself)

Depends on the bike. My bike has it so its every 20 hours if youre not riding hard enduro.

You should actually get some air filter cleaner product because it actually dissolves the previous oil spray that is now fully filled with dust and it wont be coming all out with just a soap clean. I normally buy motul 5 liters air filter cleaner and it doesnt take that much product to clean my filter since its spongy and you can squeeze it inside a bowl and clean it up real good

One other thing, you shouldnt be starting your bike without an air filter on because it can suck up a lot unwanted debris and deteriorate your engine a lot. You should probably do oil change first and then clean your filter. Your filter looks really dirty, you should probably have it cleaned after 4-5 rides, depending on the dust on the air where youve riden through, but aiming for 5 rides is a good measure.

@@sayanthk6483 i also think the same. The dimple on the filter cover is to keep the spring in place. Japanese bikes have oil filter with the O-ring facing insides. Sadly he did it wrong. Btw do you know which Motul gear oil he used?

Sayanth k It is in the correct way, the rubber side faces the oil filter cap.
