What is an impact driver/wrench, what is it good for and is it worth buying an impact for working on motorcyles?

Whether it's about an entire motorcycle or just a single tool in the garage, your videos have consistent quality and depth of information. Great video! Looking forward to more!

I bought an impact wrench years ago specifically to remove a stubborn stator retainer nut. I have had way more need for the impact wrench for automotive applications, but It is a priceless tool when you need it regardless.

I hope you use safety glasses when you are using the chrome sockets because WHEN they explode on the impact gun bits of the socket will shoot off in different directions very fast..

When I bought my air compresor, it came with a fiew accessories including an impact wrench. If you can find a kit like that and it is on sale then you should go with that. Cheap pneumatic tools are usually more relieble than cheap electronic tools.

Well I have a "cheap" pneumatic impact wrench which is supposed to be able to tighten up to 350nm but it barely tightens 100nm on a full 100l compressor on the highest setting. Plus batteries are easier than a whole ass compress you have to take with you

Nice bro. I have used a compressor, hose and rattle gun (impact wrench) since moses played football for Jerusalem, such a pain in the rear. I got one of these last year, and omg how much better and easier are they. Love your work dude. Keep it up.

Impacts for use on a motorcycle should be 1/4” or 3/8”. 1/2” will only be useful for drivetrain, maybe forks and axles where the torque values are higher. Air impacts develop to much torque for most jobs, and are harder to control from the trigger, but can be used on stubborn bolts/nuts. Never ever tighten with an impact on a motorcycle. Start threading by hand, and torque properly. For smaller bolts/ screws, use an impact driver rather than the wrench. Finally as you mentioned always used the proper impact sockets and bits, regular ones can shatter with high torque. Nice vid dude.

You've written almost exactly what I wrote on a another vid... impact wrench for stubborn stuff or things that may spin, impact driver for most other stuff... I use an electric screw driver with adapters for fairing bolts because im lazy mind. I fully agree with the start and finish nuts and bolt by hand, seem so maybe people sheer and break things because they didnt want to put the tool down

I have one and have to say its nice to have but not necessary. I only use it occasionally for the tougher nuts and bolts and only for removing them. Honestly for the motorcycle its a bit overkill but fun to use lol. However its pretty expensive especially if you factor in the impact rated nuts. For removing and installing most little fasteners an electric drill / driver is perfect. Foe tightening just set the clutch on a loose setting and torque the bolts with a torque wrench

Nice to see a South African review. Would have gotten the same one but since I already have bosch batteries in going to go with Bosch.

Don't use your regular sockets we a impact wrench. In a similar way use impact screwdrivers sockets...or you are going to ruin the bits... Next, you can find a torque limiter to tighten bolt to a known torque and avoid stripping threads. In my opinion a compressed air version is better as the compressor is the next purchase you will need anyway.

With drivers in high torque applications you will snap the bits even impact bits you choose the right one. You can go both ways with both but I'd prefer to keep them separate for separate applications. A tool saves you money over time

So far thankfully I havent had the need for an impact gun but I think I'm going to wait to get my own shop and that's when I'mma buy all the tools. The question will then be whether I get them battery or compressed air powered. So far, the most "oh shit!" useful tool I have is the battery powered dremel. Enough power for quick jobs, very light and I can take it to my parking spot where I do not have a socket in sight

100 nm impact driver is the best choice. I use makita 12 volt. Light and not over torque. For finish touch, use your hand tools.

FYI..... I believe an impact socket is softer than your cr-v socket so they don’t have the risk of shattering not just cracking. Could splinter off & cause injury ☠️👁

Hi Chaos! My scooter isn't starting and making some weird scratchy noise directly under the seat when I Hold the start button... Do you know what that might be?

You should go and ask a real mechanic. The engine is under the seat so you should ask a mechanic about it.

A driver is very different from a wrench. A driver is just that, high rpm less torque, a wrench has high torque. A driver with it's higher rpm and lower torque will strip your bolts. So please don't listen to this guy a driver is a driver, a wrench is a wrench.
