I fished castaic almost every other week with my girl and 4 year old daughter in 2022.. with only a handful of decent catches... but i wouldn't trade the quality time and memories for the world!

We know this feeling all too well, even on the rental boat we’ve been skunked a few times. That’s why Ive gone over to the salt side. Spotted bass, Sand Bass and Calicos are just as fun to catch.

Its all about knowing where the fish are at we have lived here about 30 years now and there is always some where the fish will be at and biting ,one thing is fishing off shore can be alot harder if you have a boat or rent a boat its alot easier, right now the stripers and large mouth bass are starting to go off the fishing arm and by the dam

Castaic lake shoreline fishing month of February? I stay home. Not saying you can't catch bass up there, its just really tough. Me normally start fishing Castaic around mid march when water start to warm up a bit. But yeah this happen to any of us Castaic fisherman. And you'll get em soon for sure.

Rough but beautiful day...this is why I got myself an inflatable raft and modded it a ton to be able to at least have the peace of mind that I know there are fish near where im casting. Makes it hurt a little worse when you don't catch, but being able to hunt around is a good time.
@WhereWeWild
@WhereWeWild Жыл бұрын
Definitely a rough one, haha but yeah that sunset was beautiful for sure. 😊🤙🏽 And nice yeah man if it gets you out there it gets you out there! We are trying to come up with something, haha our biggest issue is storage. Also needing something big enough and stable for 2. Do you stand up and fish in your inflatable or do you have to stay seated?

I was on that shore grind all summer. You are definitely right, a boat is a game changer. Haven't been skunked on the boat yet. Also check out C3 baits. They do really well at Castaic. Even got a nice trout on one last week. 🎣🎣🎣
@WhereWeWild
@WhereWeWild Жыл бұрын
Hahaha yeah bro it’s a different game when you can go find em. I have definitely caught some great fish off these shorelines, but it’s just way more consistent when you can get out there for sure. And yeah C3’s are definitely super popular around these parts they definitely get bit. 🤙🏽

Hahaha yup. 😁 Weather, moon phases, time of year, they definitely prefer to eat certain times over others. This video was also shot when the fishing was at one of the worst points for this lake too. Last couple years have been ROUGH. Water levels fluctuated so drastically it really messed things up. It’s getting decent again though. 😎🤙🏽

Getting a kayak/boat is a game changer for sure, especially in the winter time. I had several 10+ fish days in the lagoon this past year in areas that you just can't access from shore. Hopefully you can figure out storage for one, I'm sure you'd love it!
@WhereWeWild
@WhereWeWild Жыл бұрын
Oh yeah man. Completely different world for sure! 😂 I own so many baits even that I can’t throw from shore! I always do some decent damage on a boat, it’s so sweet to be able to go find em. Haha we just have to get a place with a garage, I’d love to just get something simple to work on. Nothing crazy. Just something stable and spacious enough for us both to fish the upper and lower. Might have to just rent storage space or something in the meantime but that kinda sucks too. Everyone says to get a kayak haha but we would need 2 of them A. and B. I’m tall bro, lol it’s just not for me I’ve tried it, also not even sure where we’d stash those even! Ugh 🤦🏻‍♂️😂 We gotta just figure it out. It will definitely be a game changer. 😎
@danieldtanggmail
@danieldtanggmail Жыл бұрын
@@WhereWeWild Yeah, it's definitely tricky in LA, especially w/ storage. A kayak's perfect for the lower lake and though I've had decent fishing days on the upper lake, it's definitely a lot of water to cover, especially without a motor. Sounds like a boat would be a better fit for y'all. Best of luck and see you out there sometime!

Dude I really feel you especially because I also make videos and I try to grind the whole day and I’m fishing these insanely pressured ponds and lakes and I deleted so many days of footage of me just getting skunked some time I will just just go every morning for like 5 6 hours for like a week straight without even a bite just to redeem myself and feel like I enjoy fishing it makes me want to quit and especially when I’m in school I would wake up at like 4 just to take the bus for like 2 hours witch is another headache within itself and having to go to school and all I would think about was how much I sucked dude god really needs to hear us both of us need to get bit can’t wait to see you out on the water one day.
