A Polar Bear broke four windows and ripped the wood of the wall when trying to get into the cabin, just before we arrived to stay for a few days. In this video I take you along on one of my more challenging snowmobile adventures, and explain what goes into heading outside the village limits into Polar Bear territory. An unforgettable journey with incredible scenery and good times with friends. I hope you enjoy this video and thank you so much for being here! 🧡☕️

What do you think they’re fishing for? “Fish!” That had me giggling through the entire video. Your shots are so unbelievably beautiful and peaceful. The juxtaposition of fingernail polish and harrowing snowmobile rides, rustic, far away cabins and posh homes in Portugal, just unbelievable! It’s like reading a good novel. I'm a geologist working at AGH University in Kraków, and I went on a research expediton to Svalbard in 2021 including a few days around Belsund/Chamberlindalen, so this was super fun to see! Poland has a long history of Polar research on Svalbard (going back about 80 years), and there are multiple Polish research stations and cabins there - some more basic than this, but also a large station at Hornsund with proper 'civilised' faclities. Thanks for showing us around, I hope I get the chance to return one day!

🇨🇦 HELLO FROM ONTARIO CANADA! I want to thank you so much for your years of research you've done for this absolutely beautiful part of our world! My goodness in all your years of research it must be sad to see the state of Svalbard and our Polar bears. The weather is greatly affecting this larger than life beautiful part of the world as well? With the weather being too warm it's melting the ice these beautiful animals need to hunt from. I just find it incredible that we, in this beautiful world are being warned about these effects and many others and we just keep going on like we live in an indispensable world! Buckle up people! We are ruining a world that our children and grandchildren and so on...have to live in. There truely isn't much time left. 😩🥶🤬🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

@@sandrarawn2147 Sad to see if the “state” of Svalbard? There’s nothing wrong there, the archipelago is very beautifully kept in pristine condition. Folks who live there are extremely mindful of the environment, so I’m not sure what you are referring to. Yes, there is some climate change, but it’s not catastrophic as you purport. There are others, however, China and India primarily are going to ruin it for everyone else. They’re wicked leadership don’t give a rats patootie about the environment. The opportunity and the dream is now gone, which I don’t regret because I have a great job and career, but still this video brought back a lot of old memories and reminded me of few dreams I used to had :). I live in Canada but have roots, via great-grandparents, in what would become or remain, following WW2, Poland, Ukraine and Romania in no particular order of #s of ancestors. Cold hasn't been unknown to me; indeed, I've gotten used to living winter after winter, with Toronto (my city of birth and the only one in which I've ever lived) having suffered some very brutally cold winters. That said, the part of Canada in which I live is at such a low latitude that I can't think of a point during my lifetime that in that part of the world I've seen a polar bear in the wild. Of other parts of the world I've ever visited, I've also yet to encounter polar bears in the wild even with the island of Newfoundland known to, unlike when it's summer there (when I'd visited), have polar bears on it come springtime.

Your videos are phenomenal, not one outdoes the other. All of them I am utterly awestruck by! To think I never knew where you live existed until this past October purely by stumbling onto your channel with the video of you discussing the vitamin D testing. I’ve been hooked ever since. It’s good to see how people from different parts of the world live, helps keep thing’s in perspective of how we are so small yet have such profound impact for being the individuals that we are. Thank You ❤

Watching your videos makes us miss Alaska! So much in your videos is similar to the things we know. Your outlook is very positive and I appreciate your viewpoint on things that can be hard to overcome like the darkness and the cold with your cheerful attitude and your appreciation for simple things like cozy fires and a good book.

Yeah, polar bear break-ins and avalanche beacons in sub zero weather doesn't sound like a relaxing getaway to me lol. More like my worst nightmare. But different strokes for different folks. I do love getting to enjoy the adventure vicariously from my warm and cozy home in California.

Cecilia thanks for sharing your snowmobile culture 👍. Ours in mid west USA , WS, MN, MI much different. We have designated trails for all atv's and snowmobiles, gas stations designated for sleds and we stay in road side motels . They have large areas to park the truck & trailer. And of course parking lots for sleds at bars and restaurants right off the trail. Wisconsin is the snowmobile capital of US , so there is alot of snowmobile racing ❤️ and drag racing ect. They even have the grass drag , sled on grass and radar racing ( measuring your top speed ) in bikinis 😅 its sooooo fun !Have a great time.❤️

Hi Cecilia, I love your channel! I’ve been following your journey for over a year now and I’ve learned so much from you (not to mention how relaxing and refreshing it is to watch your videos 😊). The cabin ones are my favourites. I have a suggestion if you don’t mind - or maybe you have already posted something similar and I missed it, in that case I’m sorry! I’m always curious about the gear you pack (equipment AND clothes) when you go on those cabin trips. Perhaps you could show us how you prep? Also I absolutely ADORE this brownish and cream wooly sweater you are wearing on the trip. ❤ Love from ON, Canada

You're all so brave. Honestly, I'd be petrified of running into a polar bear on the trip (and the entire time actually!). You're used to having to deal with them, but I'm not sure if i could ever get used to it! I found your channel because a photographer I pet sit for traveled to Svalbard last year (I may have mentioned this in the past). I never even heard of the place, and I've been obsessed with the lifestyle in Svalbard ever since. I was thinking firewood would be very expensive! You have an interesting life. Thank you for sharing it.
