Jan has two submission wins in the UFC, his last sub was in 2018. He doesn’t exactly offer a huge submission threat. While Chimaev has 4 first round submissions in the UFC and the first person to submit Whittaker in the UFC. Whittaker fought Ronaldo Souza, Ronaldo Souza handled himself just fine on the ground with Jan and arguably won that fight. The same Souza couldn’t do anything to Whittaker, Whittaker looked like a child against Khamzat. I think you’re underestimating his strength a bit here.

You're making the claim that in theory, his technique wasn't perfect, and that the only reason he got the finish was due to a pre-existing injury. But this is absolutely false. The perfect technique is what works for each situation, and Khamzat did exactly what he needed to do. Pre-existing injury or not, Khamzat was trying to break Whittaker's jaw, and he accomplished exactly that. Khamzat's grappling is pure animal instinct.
