The Reality of Life of Pakistani Workers in Oman 🇴🇲

🇴🇲 MUSCAT, OMAN - How is Pakistani life in Oman? How labour workers live? Today we are going to Ruwi, the main business area of Muscat where many Asian immigrants live. Oman’s population is set to touch 5 million, among which 58% are Omanis and 42% are expats. The largest number of workers are Bangladeshis, followed by Indians and Pakistanis.
Labour workers in Oman earn from 100 to 200 OMR a month, around 260 to 500 US dollars. One room rent costs 100 to 150 OMR a month, 260 dollars, which they divide among tenants. They usually spend around 40 OMR per month each included food.

I’ve been following your videos for a while now and just wanted to say how much I appreciate this one. It’s so thoughtful of you to show the less glamorous side of Oman, yet still portray it beautifully. Having visited Oman twice, I noticed that the living conditions for labor workers are much better compared to places like Saudi, Dubai, and other GCC countries. That being said, I do wish the workers had more space and a bit more privacy, like a few extra rooms and places to store their belongings. It’s clear they appreciate what they have, but better accommodations could really improve their comfort. Thank you for shedding light on this - it means a lot!

I have also been on the receiving end of scamming by Pakistanis in Saudia, and in Dubai... Listening to this, you feel for their plight

No painter earns less 500 Omani rials a month. Six months back one Pakistani painter charged me for painting as per square meter basis, ended up given him 500+ omani rials in 30 days!!!!! That money is not cheap at all since he forced me to accept handling the work by himself only. That money contribute a lot in Pakistan!!! I had also one Pakistani driver years ago who I paid 350+ rilas a month.

500 Omni is not enough money as inflation is very high in Pakistan. They sacrifice their family and here in Pakistan only electricity bill is 50 Omani Riyal for 3 people. Groceries for 4 people are 100 Omani.

I suggest you to find someone where you live (friend of a friend or a relative, for example) who’s already in Oman and can ask his sponsor to help you. You can also search for an agent in your city to help you find a sponsor for you, but this can be expensive I think
