Great storytelling. Can't wait for the next installment. It is like a soap opera. Best wishes. Drama, comic relief (laughed out loud with you when you were following the wrong Audi), wholesome characters (Trudy played her part well), technology helps (phones to talk to British mechanic, navigate and communicate), friends in need (I enjoyed the comment from one of your subscribers who recognized his cousin when Ersel took off his mask!) and a cliffhanger ending. Amazing, woohoo.

Chris, Marianne, you guys are stars, seriously well done on keeping your videos so real, so down-to-earth and so genuine. Keep this up, I watched all your Turkey videos, I am really enjoying them. It is indeed astonishing to see how friendly the people are in Turkey, how welcoming and hospitable they are. But also dont forget that the beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and it is your positive energy and your extremely genuine attitude allowing us all to experience these nice notions with you. Sorry to see Trudy struggling, I hope you can get it fixed soon and be safe on the roads. I have family in Istanbul, Bursa and Kalkan, so if you need any help, any advice, a place to crash the night or so, whatever, I would be more than happy to give a helping hand. I lived myself in the UK for several years and I will always be in debt to British people, for being equally accomodating and helpful during my time there. I have collected beautiful memories in your country, which paved the way to for me to become who I am now, and I can only be happy to see you enjoying Turkey. Please be safe and keep looking at each other so in love as you do. You are simply beautiful people. Greetings from Germany. Yakup.

Great that you have Ersal in Istanbul to help. Hope Trudy carries on starting- I haven’t got a clue about car/van repairs. Your alarm is the same as Mrs T’s ring tone - and her mates don’t work on GMT so used to waking up with that sound. Have to say no alarm at 6am sounds good- trust me they all sound bad early in the morning. I have experienced a similar problem to Trudy with a land rover the problem was a blocked vent in the fuel filler cap. This caused a vacuum to be created in the tank so when the engine was turned off the fuel in the fuel lines was sucked back to tank making it impossible to draw fuel when trying to restart the engine. My advise is loosen the fuel cap and see if the engine will restart. It’s possible all that dust has clogged the vent. Hope this helps Kevin Abbasi

Hello both, the buzzing sound you heard when Trudy wouldn’t start is either the fuel cut-off solenoid that’s shuts the fuel off when you turn the key off or a dodgy relay in the fuse box that controls the same fuel circuit and it is failing. It is definitely fuel starvation. If you could tell the mechanics they could check the electrical connections or just swap out the relay, they’re quite a cheap easy fix. When it won’t start just gently tap the fuse box near the air filter or the fuel filter behind the air filter on the firewall. Good luck. 👍🏻👍🏻

We had this exact issue with our fiat engine motorhome. Switching keys sometimes working other times not . Dreading turning of the engine in case it didn't start again. Ours resolved it self when we changed the engine battery. It wasn't completely dead but just that slight drop in charge seemed to effect. I know that still didn't explain how changing keys worked. But we never had problem again once we installed a new battery.

I agree with Shep, and the other people that referred to the key and immobiliser functionality. I would change the batteries in the key fobs (buy some spares batteries too) as a first step. If it were fuel or fuel pump related I doubt that it would have started again or run for the whole journey to Istanbul. Its so rapidly intermittant that it sounds like an electrical rather than a fuel problem to me. I am not a mechanic, just a tinkerer but years of tinkering with cars have taught me that it can be the stupidest and simplest of things sometimes. Good luck.

That magic works everytime . The air filter was just a coincedence im pretty sure . It sounds more to me like the fuel cut off solenoid that switches the engine off with the key as ive had the very same problem ovrr the years with diesel engines with a key operated fuel solenoid id seriously get that checked out . Folks . Worth a try . It might not be . But id deffo have it checked over for peace of mind . Ive found the truck garages around istanbul very efficiant much more than some in uk . Happy motoring folks as ever say safe as for those small lights on certain bits of road its distance lights u have to in a truck or large vehicle stay i could be wrong but 2 lights apart they usually on bridges and in tunnels too . Like in the mont blanc and frejus tunnels in italy thry have blue distance lights and u have to be 2 lights apart in hgvs . Im near sure its like that in those parts of the roads these turks are so friendly if u make the effort its pays dividends i allways take people as i find them treat them as u wish to be treated i say u guys have a brilliant attitude with people ur wonderfull people pls take care xx ian

Hi Chris and Marianne ... Please check your engine fueling system starting from the fuel pipes to fuel pump to fuel solenoid to fuel filter and this could happen if there is some throttling in the pipes because of bad fuel purity or some corrosion ... If it happens again, when you start it, go ahead and drive to the garage as close as possible, so you can camp out (park) near the garage in case it will not start the next day. In essence, when it starts, DRIVE... Smart move to go to Istanbul and to meet your friend Ersel, who had his 20 yr. mechanic examine Trudy. Still watching your video. @gerrylaidler14924 жыл бұрын
My guess would be that the starting problem has its roots in the immobiliser. Nothing wrong with the starter motor, nothing wrong with the injectors, nothing wrong with the fuel pump. A very simple fix might be to replace the batteries in the keys. OR get someone very clever to bypass the immobiliser. The starter motor turns the engine over just fine! The injectors usually either work or dont and it would still fire (badly) if one was tempremental and the fuel pump too either works or doesnt (Fuel leak from pump?) BUT when it goes its great. so there can be nothing wrong with the mechanical side. Hope this helps. and best of luck.

Hi again. I've only watched the first 9 1/2 mins, just saw you start Trudy with the other key, So now I am pretty sure your problem is mainly the battery in the first set of keys! I.ve had a similar problem in the past with one of my cars, What normally happens is that the battery in the key gets too low to switch off the engine immobiliser, This then causes the same problem you have been having! If it was the starter motor, the engine would not turn over, It would just click! It the engine turns over, but does not start, then the problem is not spark, (I think Trudy is a Diesel, so has coils rather than spark plugs) caused by either a lack of electric current getting to the coil (or spark plug) or a lack of air or lastly fuel! I hope it is all fixed now. Hopefully I will find out by watched the rest of the video! Best of luck!!

I think it's the immobilizer not activating the fuel solenoid. If you get really stuck you could put a live on it via a switch so that it opens, or it just be a faulty fuel solenoid

I had this problem in my Ducato vehicle. Solution The electronic circuit above the fuse box in the engine compartment. You should definitely go to Fiat Service. Only they can find it. For example, Özlem oto servis - Kartal Sanayi .. If you are still in Istanbul

On my old Motorhome. Are you waiting for the Diesel Heater light to go out before the final twist of the key. Mine will not start if I insert key and immediately turn it fully. Cheers from old George.
@TREADtheglobe4 жыл бұрын
Hi - we have never done that before .. but we will give it a go !!
@MakeDoAndMend14 жыл бұрын
@@TREADtheglobe I think all Diesels Engines have to be started that way. It should mention it in the operators manual. The colder the weather the longer it takes for the heater light to go out before final turn of key. Look it up on KZbin or internet. Cheers from old George

Based on it starting after changing keys! It's very likely key fob battery. However if you key does not central locking. Not that. Easy test your key should unlock van from about 60 feet. If not its key If yes. Turn ignition turn for ten seconds before starting, if it then starts its low pressure problem ie filter or intank pump. However I'd been very interested in that it turns out the be.

Hi - it all seems to have settled ... so we think maybe a bit of dirt in the fuel ? we will let you know if anything else shows itself ... but she is running fine at the moment !!

Check the batteries of the key fobs. Could also be an Immobiliser issue.

I would be looking at Fuel filter partial blockage ? Causing intermittent running ? And air lock also would be intermittent ,fuel filters around £15.00 I guess always worth changing and fairly easy to do 👍

There is immiblizer signal problem in one of your ignition key. You can test the situation changing your key to start it

Hi mate, i had the same problem. it’s the fuel sending pump in the fuel tank. when it doesn’t start bang the fuel tank few times gently with a rubber hammer. Good luck

If you've changed the key it may be a transponder issue. Replace the battery in the key.

I was thinking the same thing. I had an Escort van years ago that would only start on two of the three keys I got with it. I believe one of the keys had a faulty transponder in it, they where keys without a battery as it didn’t have central locking.
@jamesfearn16924 жыл бұрын
Transponder keys do not need a battery to work the battery is there for the CDL signal only. 👍🏻 If you do not believe me try your own with the battery removed.

I would replace the fuel filter. If that doesn't fix it then clean the DPF. The diesel in turkey is lower grade than europe and could be causing DPF blockage. Good Luck xx.

The problem maybe about your other key. Immobiliser maybe not able to read your key and not let you start the engine. You may programme your other key in Bostancı Car Repair Area .
