Same. I quit my low payment job for a sabbath year. I pay my life from my savings. Most relatives asked why? Why you quit your job. I said how tired I was doing it, how much time it consumed with a long hour commute a way, and how low they paid to get my free time. Everyone is like, find a better job. No one seems to understand anymore how great it is doing nothing. At my sabbath I wake up happy, 18 hours after sleep are free to do what I want. I mountain bike, listen music and dance. I eat and my house clean. When I worked I had no energy to even make myself a food. I was at 5 PM home, just barely working to go groceries next, and then it was a time to sleep...

For most of us youngsters we will work but if it's bad we can always quit and find something else to do. We don't have wife and kids so we are not sentenced to work till death. 8 hours spent doing anything is torture. There are things that I love to do that I wouldn’t do for 8 hours. You literally have no time (our most valuable resource) to do anything. Also “salary pay” is a trap. You can get called in at anytime without compensation. Asked to work 10+ hours a day, weekends etc. because you’ve signed a contract that says that your time is not your own. We should work no more than 4 hours a day.

Honestly, coming from someone who comes in every day, does an insane amount of work and never misses a day...I can't stand it either. It's exhausting. It feels like your life is being taken from you, hour by hour, week by week. Every day, you only get about four hours after work to do what you need to do before you have to do it all again, and weekends are too short. Every day you're stuck with the choice of whether you'll relax and do something fun or just clean so you don't have to be surrounded by your own filth. No matter what you choose it'll bite you in the ass, and just make you more stress when you see the giant mess/realize you did nothing fun. You can have many hobbies and interests, but you never get to sit down and do them. Your job forces you to replicate depression by giving up the things you love and just sitting for eight hours a day. We were not meant to live like this. Hunter-gatherers only worked four hour days, and spent the rest in leisure. And we should *not* have to live like this. When automation started becoming more common, people thought that the hours people worked would become shorter, but that they'd still have the same weekly take home pay because their employers would still be making the same profits. Instead, CEOs decided to give themselves raises and pay their workers even less, while still giving them long hours, creating our current job crises, and creating this situation where people work themselves to death. We only live one life, we should be able to do something with it that gives it meaning.

I haven't even started working that long ago and I already feel like this. I used to have a terrible fucking depression when I was younger, and by the end of high school I got better and kind of became a functioning person again, sometimes I'd have bad moments but overall I was getting through life alright. Since I've started working everything has been going to shit. It's like I've lost so much so quickly. I'm not taking care of myself at all, I'm letting my mental and physical health go down the drain because I'm just too exhausted to do anything, I'll sleep over 8 hours a night and still be tired and then be even sadder because I feel anxious as though I'm wasting the little time I have, and every time I vaguely remind myself of this I want to cry. I lost track of time completely and I barely know when one day ends and the other one begins because I've just numbed myself so badly in order to make time pass faster. I'm quite a creative and sociable person and I have no will to do either those things anymore, I don't want to work on my personal projects or be with my friends or exercise when I get home because I'm just too fucking depressed. There are people at my work who go home and do yoga and write articles and I literally just wanna down a bottle of pills. There is no way I'm gonna keep working these hours throughout my life, I'll make a living with a part time and be happy about it.

This is the most comments I've ever had from a single video and it's bittersweet to see so many people relate and share the same frustration and anxiety that I did in this video. Of course I say bittersweet because it's sad that so many of us are in the same boat, I haven't been able to reply to every comment but I wanted to write this as a bulk way of saying I see ya! I see all of you and I truly believe we will get there and just because we can't see it doesn't mean there isn't a light at the end of the tunnel! I am so tempted to make an updated video as my life isn't too dissimilar to how it was back in 2018 however I am no longer in retail and have moved onto an office job, and as much as I moaned about my retail job I can confirm this - the grass isn't greener on the other side! Full time is still full time whether you're working on a till or sat behind a screen, I am loving having weekends off but definitely still struggle waking up every working day of the week. I could go on but mainly wanted to say thank you for all your comments, again I see and hear you all! If I had time I'd make a response/update video but life has picked up and is very busy! But will try hard to get one out. Take care of yourselves everybody, Vic

Thank you for the comment. I still return to your video sometimes when I'm feeling overwhelmed . it helps me somehow to know other people are facing the same struggles. I met a wonderful guy recently, but we can't hang out because we are too busy with work , or have other plans and chores to do. I take caffeine pills during the day to stay alert at work , and am experimenting with nicotine- so I am basically a drug addict now.. I still have no idea how I am going to do this for the rest of my life... Additionally, my landlord just raised my rent by $200 last week due to property tax increases and american dollar inflation . My work wages were only raised 50 cents , which does not help at all ! The cost of living keeps increasing every year , but why can't it decrease? it's 2020 , humans should find a way to decrease costs and give people the freedom they deserve to pursue what makes them happy. I feel like I'm on a boat that keeps sinking . the rich are at the top of the boat partying while the rest of us are slowly starting to drown. Before the rich get what they deserve, everyone will already be dead, and they will probably have an escape plan. it's unfair... I just don't know what people are going to do. Every year it seems people are becoming crazier and more desperate . It scares me sometimes when I look at the direction we are heading.
@kingjasko4 жыл бұрын
It's a vicious circle... The world is ran by greed and money, yet they try to sell us this freedom bullshit and how we can do what we want with our lives, but truthfully, if I need money, I need to work and everyone absolutely needs money unless they're born under a lucky star... How to be free, not do anything and not need money? Even being homeless you need money to buy food and survive... I don't get it, never will.

The "8 hour work, 8 hour rest, 8 hour play" hard won by unions is no longer the reality we're living in now. If you communte to work - say 30 mins each way - are granted an unpaid lunch break of 30 mins - that's an hour and a half directly consumed by work or at work. Where does that come from? If you need 8 hours sleep - you're screwed if you need 9 - then the extra work overflow comes out of the "play" or recreation time. This is a conservative estimate that basically leaves very little time (which you also have to use to wash clothes, clean, cook, do the BASIC self care stuff as required by modern life. It is profoundly alarming, but who will listen but the other people who's only comfort in hearing it denounced are the very people who feel trapped in it? And all the while keeping our voices down so as not to be attacked by those who benefit from it, or worse those along side us that see themselves as oneday benefitting from it for themselves.

I wake up to get to work at 5:30am. By the time I get off around 3 or 4pm (depending on how busy it is) im always so beat tired I don’t feel like doing much but napping. Even on beautiful days, it bumms me out. I work at a busy hotel so I spend the whole day talking to 100s of people every week, on the phone and in person, helping, serving, solving problems, just one after another after another, it’s relentless. Sometimes I can’t even take a break to put on chapstick it’s so busy. And when it’s not busy with helping guests, we are required to do a 2 page list of chores. We also don’t get scheduled breaks because apparently it’s NOT an Arizona law to require breaks... I usually don’t feel like hanging out or talking to anyone after work, not even family. I’m trying to find a new job, but it’s just like I’m stuck in this Customer Service rut... Basically I’m ranting here, sorry people. I guess I’m just hoping someone can relate. Thanks for reading...

This...shit...is...me. I am 33 years old and I hate everything about work. Everything you said I relate to personally. Counting down hours to minutes, days off...im with you on all of it. People say: "You will love the job you work if you love your work. Find the job thats right for you!" ...work isnt right for me...

I'm 26 and after years of working full time since I was 18, I refuse to ever do it again. I want to spend my life enjoying it, not dealing with work all the time.

Life is not meant to be working all week long. When you work, you don't have life.

@@erakkovaatainen148 thank you, needed to read this. Everyone around me working 40+ hours with no money at the end of the week is judging me -_- I have savings and I want to be minimalistic. I don't mind working hard but I don't want to waste away at a job that would replace me in a few days

Most people dont wake up and just go with the flow. It’s good to see you have finally seen the truth.
