btw if you ever played mortal kombat or any other fighting game, this will remind you of a mechanic in those games called "fuzzy guarding". if you don't know what that is or haven't played any other fighting game besides for honor, i highly suggest you go watch a video on that mechanic. also this works for me but it may not work for you because everyone is different and has their own preferences, so if it doesn't work for you then you have to play the way you're most comfortable ... thanks for watching, like and subscribe to the channel if you enjoyed. Fr cause In those fighting games you gotta be ready for overheads, lows, throws, cross-ups so you gotta keep have good blocking and also some movement to help you avoid mixups and pressure it’s great that you apply actual fighting game terms and apply it here to for honor. Combine fuzzy guarding with meatying your opponent and your in a good spot and safe/unsafe shenanigans

Thanks for the help lad. I've played for about as long as you, but my PC at launch wasn't the best. I could only launch duel with 40fps max, so dom was out of the question. I used to ruin tournaments though. Ever since CCU, I have become washed up xD. Now that everything has been sped up, it's separating pretenders like me and legends like you more thoroughly. I still have to two tournament awards from back when Jarl Jordan ruled the For Honor discord server, but I don't feel worthy of them any more. These tutorials have solo gotten me my mojo back. @@kevdup5109 well mk dont have cross ups Because there's block button And fussy guard is just a way to cheese mix up between overhead and low if they have 5 f gap or more To make it simple lets say the enemy have 13f low With 20f overhead So you have 7f gap What you need to do is block for 13f on down And then release it between the 7f And throws are reactable so the only way to open these play is by command grab Or Doing moves that have similar animation to the throw Basically its a mechanic to skip 50 50

Definitely a tutorial on how to deflect more often and one on reading opponents characters
@robertespinoza59583 жыл бұрын
I just look for any natures wrath because thats a easy reaction deflect, any dodge attack=easy, zone is a different matter and it depends on what your opponent does i was fighting a warden the other day and i was deflecting his zones because that was a big thing he did and i adapted, you can also deflect heavys pretty easy, im on console so deflecting lights is hard but not impossible, its almost impossible to do on reaction so you just need to learn your opponent and what hero there playing, like wardens throw a lotta side lights so deflect those
@fussel6763 жыл бұрын

I do the opposite to reaction, I predict where the attack comes from, when it comes and how fast it will be. Since my fingers are just too slow to do reaction, they need an instinctive input to get anywhere. So my main objective when fighting is to get into the enemy's head and correctly time the counters and punishes, making the Timing input the most difficult part of the read. Essentially I have to see ahead of time to know how to react. Bashes are the most recent one where I can just dodge on orange, and the predictions have helped me reduce the amount of Zone OS parries I do to a smaller amount thanks to keeping my mind set on Flash parry timing.
@a7mednj7873 жыл бұрын
I do the opposite to that. I predict where my opponent is going to strike and then I instinctively miss every god dang time!

yeah relying entirely on guessing is not a good idea in a fighting game. especially if you play an assassin
@purewrath3 жыл бұрын
I would call this "intuition". It makes you react faster to main mechanics. An example would be: When you are OOS, be prepared for your opponent to possibly GB you.
@Blurgamer173 жыл бұрын
@@cowblob6539 well I remedy this issue by hitting the training grounds, every day. The problem that the average for honor player faces, is that they expect to play at their best without prior warm up and practice. Best example of this is light spam. Instead of just complaining about why you can't react to lights or seemingly see lights go through your guard, they should try training with light attack bots in Training grounds _Before_ they even touch Multiplayer. I've gotten better with reacting (although it seems I won't be able to parry on flash at 30 fps just yet), however, you'd be surprised to see how common patterned attacks are used in all heroes. The reason why guessing gets you pretty far in this game, is because of noticing common pattern attacks with every hero and every player. Warmonger with top chain lights Nuxia with opposite side chain lights Orochi with same side lights (pre y5s3 rework) And so on. Guessing gets you so far because nobody in this game (noob to definitive mid-tier skill levels, which covers a massive amount of players [and all redditards]) has enough brain cells engaged at one time to change their playstyle on the fly to be unpredictable
@cowblob65393 жыл бұрын

Your videos are fantastic and informative! Truly a skilled player and I mean skilled in a way that makes the game look slow. Best way I can put it is that your reads, reactions and skill at executing each action is so spot on that the game falls into a flow state. Instead of the flashing red chaotic mess that can happen in breach when everyone is just swinging mindlessly and the officer is just in there hitting everyone. Definitely do a video on making reads! It's down right silly to see a player continue to do dash attacks 3 times in a row from a canceled bash or unblockable. Then after they respawn do the exact same thing.

I'm guessing most people in the comments here haven't been playing for the past 5 years like some of us have? Good, so I can air a frustration I have about low rep players. Stop getting pissed at high rep players for matching against you and beating you. It isn't our fault, it's the game. The amount of times I get messages saying "Wow, try harding against a rep 8" 🤦🏻♂️ Just because i'm getting the correct punishes, deflecting and parrying it doesn't mean i'm trying super hard against you. You learn these things over time and they become second nature? No thinking involved, you just do it. So no, just because you're a low level i'm not going to throw a punish, not because i'm thinking "fuck this guy" but more because i'm not thinking at all, i'm just doing.

@hylux73 жыл бұрын
If you want to make better reads, you need to first study your opponent: For the offensive, try using your normal playstyle, see what they can counter, and change it to throw them off. Once they stop taking the bait, revert to doing it again to get some free damage. For defensive, look for patterns in their attacks, for example: *"The follow up light always comes from top, i'll parry it next time"* or *"Average lightspam BP, always dodge after first light"* or *"This kensei always feints the zone in a side light, i'll parry it next time"* I strongly suggest you look at all the characters' movesets to see which attacks are undodgeables, what they can and can't do.
