Mirror worlds are fascinating. This one YA series that I read, The Waterfire Saga had a mirror realm the characters sometimes used to travel. This kind of reminded me of the part where the main character first puts her hand through a mirror on accident and is totally surprised by it. Then again, it also was about mermaids, adventure, and magic, so why wouldn't there be a mirror realm in a world where mermaids can cast magical spells? But yeah, the idea of mirror worlds is interesting.

You've heard of dark re-imaginings of Alice in Wonderland, now get prepared for Through the Looking-Glass, Horror Version! Seriously though, amazing job Southyy! Mirror worlds are always interesting, and with the sense of atmosphere you gave your story it's just magnificent. Regardless of any possible possession of the Idiot Ball by the protagonist of the second story, I thought it was pretty good, too! One's family and in-laws turning outright homicidal against one just for marrying someone of the same gender is definitely a fear that some people have, and tbh "My Father-in-Law Tried to Kill Me..." is the only story I've seen that uses that specific fear for its plot. Why is everyone assuming the narrator in the second story is a woman? He talks about being called slurs -- highlighting that the slurs would apply to both of them (as gay slurs would), basically ruling out racist slurs -- and the father is pissed at him for preventing his son from settling down with a "nice girl". They're homophobes.

Ahh yes, parents in laws.. My ex wife's parents hated me from the moment they saw me. I pulled up on my Harley covered in tattoos. Still, I was dressed nice and acted respectfully. Didnt matter. I was "a $hithead biker who probably was gonna get their daughter hooked on drugs" they said. Watching theyr faces lose all color was laughable when they found out I was a police officer and made 6 figures a year, and was able to give their daughter medical dental and vision benefits. She was a bartender that could do no wrong in her parents eyes. Turns out SHE was the one who was hiding a big coke and Molly problem and had huge daddy issues that went on about her crying for hours every time she drank whiskey, which was at least 5 of 7 nights a week after she got off work. (Her real father abandoned her and her mother when she was 2.) I finally Ended up having to have her removed from my house by police and got a restraining order to cover myself and protect my job. I had set up a few cameras in areas she just never noticed. Those saved my life and my career, and Thank god the mortgage was in my name only and we were only married 9 months before the real crazy came out. Gotta cover your a$$e$ out there these days. People are friggin nuts!
