I would like CK3 to have more of civilization builder things. Like ability to edit cultures a little, making new holy sites for your religion, more unique but not restricted to one place buildings (something like Great Temples, but you can build it anywhere, but you can build one and it costs shitload of money)

I’m kind of less interested in the strategy and more interest in the role playing capacity that CK3 has. Ck3 with a 500 BC ish start would be pretty much perfect to me. Ideally hoping for an Imperator port into CK3

Just got the game for the first time seeing that it semer to have been improved a lot by the new update and played it for 2 days straight So far, I enjoy the game, it is pretty solid ....... I have some gripes with it however and I think it still lacks content outside of the Greeks, Romans and Carthaginians, but I am weirdly hopeful, thing I wasn't very much merely 6 months ago, as it seems in a very good track and if they iron out some of the weird UI and design decisions (pretty please, chanve the way we adopt new military traditions, it's a step in the right direction but ........ don't lock them behind predetermined paths, just have them tied to the tree you try to unlock instead of being a pre set branch in other trees so that if I am a migratory tribe I don't have to go to Italy to unlock the roman traditions to then be able to unlock Greek traditions even though I have lived in Pontus for a century and a half and hellenized. Just a random element but telling of the very transitional state the game is in) and also, give content to the rest of the map, especially the Barbarians, my god, I hope the next expansions will focus on them to give them some content, tribal love and to finally split up the tradition trees they have access to

You might have to Nord VPN it, but I would recommend playing EU Rome for a few hours first. A lot of the people panning Imperator were EU fans, and let's not pretend otherwise. They expected EU gameplay and obviously were not getting that from the successor to EU Rome.

CK2, and CK3 to a greater extent at the moment, are much too focused on map painting.

I'm actually new to Imperator: Rome, so I don't really know what the old gameplay was like. But I LOVE this game's economic side. When I first fired up the game, I decided to do a test game with a small nation to just get the hang of everything. I picked Judea. I'm still playing that game, and I'm having a great time. The only wars I've been in are a couple of wars that my allies dragged me into, but only on 2 occasions did I even bother raising levies and sending them to war. I've made Jerusalem into the largest and most prosperous city in the world. The rest of my tiny nation is rapidly urbanizing, drawing pops from all of the neighboring provinces of foreign nations. I'm nearly 100 years ahead of everyone else in technology. My economy, founded largely on trade, is incredibly strong. I'm currently number 4 on the scoreboard without ever having conquered a single province. Currently, my heir is a military genius and I'm thinking about finally doing some expanding. Since I have so much money that I literally can't spend it all, I'm planning on saving up and building a massive war chest then hiring a ton of mercs and just go to town on the Antigonid Kingdom (the strongest nation in the game right now). My only regret is that I don't have the DLC that allows you to build wonders, or I would be doing even more awesome things. TL;DR I love this game's tall gameplay.

Glad to hear they have been overhauling it so it becomes its own. Put a whole week into it when it came out and was so disappointed, compared to other Paradox games both the older Rome Universails or the modern EU4/CK2. Why play Imperator when all the style/mechanics were lite versions of those games. If you want EU4 play that, or character role play, then CK2. Hell there is even great mods to make it more Rome esque. Hopefully when i give it another go, i feel it has its own identity and honestly im ratehr excited to see

This is probably what I've been looking for as a "tall" player. CK2 was great, but not quite what I was after . . . EUIV was closer with it's focus on country but I've been playing tall (Poland, Hungary, etc . . . ) and last game I was #2 in the entire world without painting the map or falling behind on anything except my military. I was a behemoth defending against Austria and that felt good, but with my focus on development my 40K army just couldn't match what the ottoman empire sent against me . . . and playing that way you DO feel like you are fighting AGAINST the game itself. Every point I put into development was taken away from technology, or gained from estates at a cost, or by taking something like economy instead of a war tree and then spending for moderate improvements to trade centers and building tons of buildings rather than investing in (and maintaining) troops . . . do I want higher manpower or more military tech? I need both and could GET both if I painted the map for more garbage lands. Sure it's nice to have the skill to be #2 even without a ton of war . . . Poland is perfect for that with events that let you inherit three huge vassals including Lithuania, Hungary a bit more challenging, Austria can become the entire HRE plus Hungary if you play peaceful right . . . but that is peaceful wide and deep, not really TALL. It's really a focus on building and developing the BEST civilization possible. This sounds like what I want . . . too bad the last steam sale ended a few days ago. lol

Wow. This is an excellent video I have to say! I was very exited for Marius, and hoped it would really make it the game I wished it to be, because I love the periode so much. But then I watched a few videos of bigger channles but I really couldn't like what I saw. Nothing really seemed to have changed, at least in a impactful way. But they just did the old mappainter/WarWarWar playstyle. This however really shows the game from what seems to be its best side! And it is even the part of the game I always cherished the most: Peacetime! You really made me want to jump right back into the game and see what I can do, which I haven't done for a long time... I didnt like the game at the release at all. It felt much like an EU4 mod with a poor attempt at characters. Havent touched it since, following the updates but not coming back to it. Now it feels all the parts of the game reworked start to connect and interact creating a whole new experience by what I see from your game and the feature breakdown Lambert posted. Bought the DLCs for the flavour and Im giving it another chance tomorrow. I call it chance but I know im going to like it. The 65 years of peace keeping busy sold it for me. I think that your review was really amazing. The other reviews that I watched very very informative but dry and the only thing I could really focus on was the in my opinion absurd amount of numbers on the screen. That was a good Video! I was trying to play as Syrakus every patch since release and was always disappointed - till 2.0 where I could actually customize my kingdom like I wanted it, not how it was optimal. Btw: there is another paradox game that allows as much civilisation building and that's Stellaris. I'm sure that imperator rome will get as diverse as Stellaris at one point - while having a unique twist.

I think a lot of the noise came from EU fans who thought EU Rome was the same thing as EU except set in antiquity. But it's not. The original EU Rome was more about populations, politics and trade than it was colonialism and war. It also had as one of its most unique features troop loyalties and military commanders becoming independent and sparking big civil wars, just like in Rome historically. It just has a completely different design philosophy than the EU series and always did.

@@OneProudBavarian videow as pretty nice tho, There so many akward and obscure thing sin this game tho, tooltips are so inferior to CK3 for exmaple checking culture, this culture is integrated! but what is cultur integraiton? What does it do? and like this a million more things, when i mouse over culture integraiton I would like it to explain me what it is, how to do it, and what does it give me. This game is a mess to learn everything is terribly explained compared to say CK3.
