Back in the 90’s I had the privilege to shoot against in Little Rock Arkansas and again in a bowling pin shoot. He is beyond Excellent. I watched him clear 5 bowling pins in 3.8 seconds with a S&W revolver. I wish him continued success. 😊

Jerry inspired me to keep using a revolver. I carried and competed with a Mod 10-2 in bright blue with OG pearl and Tyler T-Grip and some trigger work. Did well vs the autoloader crowd in local events. Broke my heart when it was stolen from me. It was recovered by police, but the thief had removed the grips and spray painted it flat black since the bright blue was too shiny. She was ruined to me and broken hearted I sold it. I miss it so much.

I love S&W revolvers. The 686 is, by far, I think, the absolute _best_ revolver one can buy. The so-called "L-frame" is incredible. As for durability, the Ruger Security-Six is astounding. The thing that keeps the Colt Python from being the best was its smallish hand/pawl that tended to wear rapidly. This made it go out of time after 2,000-3,000 rounds. Whether this was fixed with the newest iteration I don't know. The Ruger Security-Six was significantly more durable than the old Python. One reviewer wrote: "I once knew of an indoor range that had one as a rental gun and it digested, by their estimate, some 1,400,000 rounds with no parts breakages and minimal maintenance. That is the essence of a good deal!" By anyone's standard, that's pretty good. Since few people can afford that many rounds, I'd go with a 686. Unless there was an apocalyptic event, going with a 686 is much easier on the eyes. But if I had to carry the datgum thing, I'd take the Security-Six. S&W dedicated itself to making the 686 at least as accurate as the Colt Python, and I think they've pretty much done that.
