Really like how the later seasons actually realize that people want to hear the corny and crazy and highly and probable stories. These older seasons are still pretty cool for the segments they have in between, but they really undersell the joy of just hearing a story from Uncle Red.

I literally knew a guy like Hap Shaughnessy in the first college I attended back in '81 and '82. His name was William and we called him Buffalo Bill. As you pointed out obvious holes, he would recreate the fabric of his story to try and patch the holes. He was really entertaining sometimes, which is sad because he thought that we believed him. He was every bit as 'talented' as Hap is here.

I knew a guy like that who was a methhead. It was kind of funny to get him going at parties. He’d just lapse seamlessly from one story to another without coming to a point. The most I ever counted was 15 going at once.

I notice that Red’s delivery has improved as the show progressed. The annoying ‘and uuhhh’ breaks in his sentences has all but disappeared in the later shows. A great show non the less.

Dougie Franklin ( Ian Thomas ) was less dumb hick here in the earlier episodes. You can see a bit of his ability to improvise like he did with his brother Dave. And check out Santana's version of Ian's song, Hold On. What a huge compliment that they just left it the same and did Ian's version.
