In season 4, A-train has truly show signs of redemption. My favorite scene was when the kid saw his at the hospital and smiled, he was definitely a true hero at that moment. Throughout the series, he has evolved from having this arrogance within him with the fame and fortune to realizing that he has done wrong and want to make things right. I hope he comes back for season 5, hopefully teaming up with the Boys.

He didn't really need redemption though. In the comics when he accidentally killed Robin he was rude to Houghie, too. Here he comes off as at least semi apologetic, with his "I can't stop, I can't stop" at least acknowledging he did a bad thing but he might have been chasing a bad guy. also they went out of their way to have their main villain be much more pallettable than the comic version.

A train really wanted to prevent the possibility of ashley getting killed at the end, which I think got through to her in some way and she does view him as some sort of friend instead of just a guy on the same rope
