I think the reason Aegon didn't reinforce the Night's Watch was simple: he likely felt he didn't need to. The Night's Warch was strong at the time and possibly deemed to be fully capable of holding back the Others long enough for a united Westeros to muster their armies. So I think Aegon considered said united realm needed to defeat the threat while the Night's Watch was already well equipped to hold off the threat long enough

My personal theory on this, after seeing House of the dragon, is that the letters exchanged between aegon and the king of winterfell, probably consisted of aegon speaking to him about understanding the need for the wall, and the dangers that were present Beyond it. I would imagine that he probably said something to the extent about dragons being a critically important weapon when winter arrived in the others returned. And that's probably what convinced Stark to kneel.

Sometimes the simplest answer is the best, the whole Aegon prophesy was just added afterwards to try to tie HOTD to GOT. There's no real reference or justification for it in the actual text.

Poor Torren Stark will always be known as the the King that knelt. Hut now after weve found out for certain why Aegon forged the 7 kingdoms(6) into one .I like think he told The King of Winter his dream and thus why TKOW laid down his Crown.

For me, Torrhen Stark was always the greatest king of his time. Every other king (except for the Arryns, who were lead by a child) let their people die so that they can stay in power. Torrhen took one look at the dragons and knew it was a fools errant. He therefore made the best deal he could get and saved his people. There never has been a truer king, even if he never learned about Aegons dream: his people were more important to him than his crown.

Otto broke the Targaryen dynasty, through Allicent & her sons. The descendants grew weaker until the Mad King sought to destroy the seven kingdoms. The only way the lineage could continue is if Drogon brought Daenerys to the Lord of Light to be reincarnated in some future series.

@@dianasayson2846 This is true. I definitely agree with your comment. But the Hightowers were only able to have the influence they had because King Viserys was too weak to do anything about it. Viserys was a good man, and was friendly and amicable, but he was not the best King. He didn't do well with conflict, and had a "go along to get along" mentality. He didn't want drama, and he deal with it well at all. He really should have kept his brother Daemon close instead of pushing him away. Daemon would not have allowed Otto to have the influence he had over Viserys, or for Alicent to put herself in the positions of power and influence that she had either. People can say whatever they want about Daemon, but he was right..Viserys was a weak King, and Daemon would have protected him from himself.

Regarding Aegon's agreement with Oldtown, I think House Hightower expected to be named Warden of the South. If this had happened they would have been the most powerful house in the Reach, and the undisputed rulers of Oldtown. Of course, we know that did not happen, and it seems likely to me that House Hightower felt duped and slighted by Aegon. Otherwise, it makes no sense why the Hightowers would have so much animosity toward house Targaryen. Some might say that House Hightower's strong connection to the Faith of the Seven and the Citadel is what inspired their conflict with House Targaryen. Even though we use phrases like 'the Oldtown Conspiracy' this is probably an oversimplification of a much more complicated political situation within the actual city of Oldtown. These three institutions were as much in conflict with each other as they were with the Targaryen kings, even though they like to project an image of unity.

Aegon Conquest of the Seven Kingdoms makes sense if Aegon was looking in the defeating of the White Walkers, because the Seven Kingdoms were more militaristic compare to Essos and they had entire generations of combat and experience that made them more appealing for the defense of the living.

First he might have thought white walkers would come in his lifetime but then gradually he realizes that no it's during his descendants reign & as we know it's from maesters perspective so he might actually have done things.. Remember he had visited north 6 times, & also it might have been that (he had seen the dead passing the wall anyway) but he would have to stop them as soon as possible so he knows the north needs to be ready more than other kingdoms, hence he told torrhen to not put up a fight & take back his army to where they should be.. Also jahaerys & Alyssane especially have done alot for the wall & nights watch, & this... First night custom was a disgusting thing that Alyssane stopped hence saving the women of south of the wall area also is removing a white walkers baby factory bcs there's this theory that it was like what craster was doing with his sons & there's nightford too snowgate... &this argument that during targaryens reign night's watch's number has decreased is weird... It's not like they have prevented the starks or north to taken care of them as they have done before their conquest (If we talk about what the targaryens have done to help night's watch is a loong argument I'm not going into it that much) But anyway I mean night's watch situation during targaryens wouldn't have been as bad as what we saw in game of thrones bcs it was well after.. 16-17 years after their of their downfall & reign of Robert & the lannisters. & I believe that yes aegon might have had ambition yes loved the power loves to rule to lead... My biggest question is HarrenHall that's what makes me wonder and I feel like there's some connection between why he torch that castle and the threat I'm upsetting those who may have created the others. But I believe after the dance of the dragons it was that and won the wall really decayed I don't think it was undermanned at the time of the conquest nor do I recall them feeling the need to visit the wall and get oaths or whatever I could be wrong but I thought the wall was the best man during those years but I appreciate you asking me the question there's other reasons which is kind of more or less hearsay that makes me believe it but I try not to believe everything I hear this just makes sense to me though and the show backing it up now I don't think it was an accident although he may not have been the one to have the dream maybe it was Sahara's or someone before him or after him but definitely prior to the dance.

It was probably a lot more than 10.000 during the long night and a bit after but it started losing its purpose because the walkers was pushed back hard. I Think more people realized that the nights watch is like a death sentence. Considering the cold and that you have to ride north of the wall and most likely get killed by savages, I kinda get it. Though I also get the fact that the Iron Throne made it harder for the nights watch to function as it did before, because they essentially need to supply and send men to the Wall. My theory is that after the dance, the Targaryens lost the idea of Aegons dream, and just stayed as the royal family despite not knowing exactly why they are in power. So stupid and unwise kings after the dance basically just ruled without caring much about the wall and thus The nights watch lost a lot of men and the crown decided not to send more men or help them. Cercei in Got is a great example when she decides not to send any men to the wall, despite lord commander Mormont pleading for help.

But the First Men had historically been more prominent at the wall due to its location in the North. The new gift may have soured a lot of Northern Lords that had long been supporters of the NW because they had to give up lands and incomes in return for a brotherhood they had already given much (including members of the family) to for generations.

@@videobooks3 I'll name a few: Bloody Mary, Isabella of France, Isabella I of Castile, Empress Wu Zetian, Queen Rani Lakshmi Bai, Ranavalona I of Madagascar. There's many more in smaller matriarchies as well; the ones that are permanent matriarchies and exist most commonly as small collections of one or more tribes. Additionally Queen Elizabeth the first was fairly bloody herself. She killed 130 innocent priests and 450 nobles for the crime of being catholic. She had her fleets raid and slaughter Spanish ships. Regardless of her reasons, she had a lot of blood on her hands and wasn't always the most diplomatic nor peaceful when I came to threats to her power. That isn't say these are worst (or better) than male rule. Only to say they are just as violent and prone to needless bloodshed (as male rulership). There really are no differences on that front. Despite that I love a good girl boss.

@@RealLifeIronMan I would have to disagree Bloody Mary was not that bad at all, she just tried to reverse Protestantism, Isabella I of Castile was a great ruler who helped make Spain one of the wealthiest nations of Europe by promoting trade and exploration over war and plunder, I don't know much about Rani Lakshmibai, but she was clearly on the right side of history. Now, I will concede Ranavalona I, but she's just the norm for most male rulers 😅

Actually. GRRM has said many times that there is no correct pronunciation of his names or places. It’s however the reader says it. Great work video books, I imagine this video took a long time to put together, and you’re doing a fantastic job.
