Lol not really. I’ve used MySpace, Friendster & other social media web apps before Facebook. I also work in software development. Facebook was that one app that got lucky & was there when we slowly transitioned from web apps to mobile apps. The time when almost everyone has a mobile phone, including those that cannot even afford to pay rent but will still try to get a smart phone. Facebook is no longer able to manage its audience. But most big tech companies now also have the same problem. We’re all giving these companies our data, not just Facebook.

I still don't get the hype around Meta. Their existing platforms are going to generate profits for years, if not decades, to come. But innovation? VR is never going to be as big as he thinks, and every other decision that he ever made is completely reactionary. He sees a popular trend (like AI now), shifts the company's focus to it, stock price goes up because investors are gullible and love hype, and then after a few years the hype dies down, and there's yet again no practical results to show for it. But by then, the investors get all feathered up by the next trend so the stock goes up again, despite the fact that the company didn't do anything except blow a few billion dollars on nothing. That's basically how Meta is run, no innovation, nothing real. The only product improvements Meta has come up with since the News Feed are those that they copy/pasted from other companies or just outright bought.
