My biggest green flag is that she perceives the potential in her man and accepts people for who they are rather than what they have or can provide. She honors her man of God and defends him regardless if the world and her family is against him. She's not easily influenced and have a strong relationship with God.

The idea of a flawless marriage or relationship is unrealistic. There's no set formula for success; what works for one couple may not work for another. Nevertheless, I've learned that solutions exist for every problem. Five years ago, my wife and I faced the brink of divorce due to challenges in our marriage. Fortunately, we managed to reconcile. It was a tough phase, but we made it through...

Pocket watching and wage gauging to determine a suitable spouse will cause someone to miss out on their God given spouse. A man or woman's wages should not be considered to determine compatibility. Wages can always be attained by anyone and doesn't require growth or faith, but a righteous man or woman is precious.

This maybe an unpopular opinion but I feel like instead of being obsessed with looking for “red flags” in others, we need to look inwards to see our own red flags, get healed emotionally. Most of us are walking around with so much trauma that everything is triggering…that emotional radar is just going off on everything both good and bad. It’s like being sore all over from a work out or accident…everything hurts! Another point I’d like to make is that sometimes when people talk about red flags they are looking for a short cut to happiness. Kinda like a guarantee that this person will make them happy(which in my opinion is a very unrealistic expectation). For someone to make you happy, they have to not only know you but be quick enough to process your feelings in the way you need them to do they can always respond the way you want….thats a computer…it’s not a person. I really believe that instead of happiness ,joy should be the goal. Joy requires looking more at what is happening on the inside more than the outside. Joy can have a healing effect on emotions and mental state. In my experience people love to be around people with joyous people and when you are around someone with joy there’s a sense of “calmness” around them, that makes you want to stick around longer Joy is an attitude regardless of our circumstances while happiness is tied to our outward circumstances (maybe that’s why the fruit of the spirit is Joy and not happiness). Even in marriage, an attitude of joy causes you to take responsibility for your emotions rather than saddle your partner with the weight of regulating your emotions.

As someone who's done the inward work, I've regretted it many times. However, once I've gone through the process, the outcome has been gratifying. Nowadays, everyone finds peace in knowing that there's a problem with everyone other than themselves than working on self. Which is why vids like this are created.

One of the first guys who asked me out when I moved to Atlanta in the 90s asked to go dutch after we finished our meal. I didn't even hesitate to say, "Absolutely!" But I never went out with him again. He was my son's barber, and I adjusted the future conversation to friendship instead of interest. I never called him out or addressed it, but I knew that he was not serious about me. The thing is that during our "date" I think it became clear to him that I was not going to sleep with him (I was recently divorced and was co-parenting with my ex). I was taught to always bring your own money everywhere you go, and I teach my daughters to always have money to 1. pay for your own meal, and 2. take an Uber if you need to get home. Never cause a scene or confront a person for asking you to go dutch. Pay and keep it moving.

This is an interesting read and good advice. 😅 I was curious, what is dutch? I'm from the south 🤷🏿‍♂️ and if it was an ungodly activity, why did you decide to commit to it, only to friend zone the guy. 😂 Deep down, you wanted to go with him and truthfully, he probably was the chosen spouse that God had for you, except he wanted the desert before the meal (premarital sex). Probably should've shown him some grace to grow and he probably would've repented.
@dawnbedingfield1159
@dawnbedingfield1159 Ай бұрын
@@Anointed1s_TV going "dutch" means each person pays for their own meal, what they ate and drank. It's not the same as splitting the bill. So when men ask you to help pay for a date that they asked you on, and then realize it won't go as planned, they are clearly showing a level of manipulation that should be a huge red flag. Grace is for when you are in a relationship or married, and the person is struggling. If you show me exactly who you are on the very first date and I give you grace, I'm creating my own heartache. And...while I'm going through a divorce??? NOPE. That grace was MUCH better spent on the father of my children so we could figure out how to co-parent effectively.

@@dawnbedingfield1159 if you want a new relationship, you will have to make sacrifices. Nobody is perfect to set perfect expectations. Sometimes, people make mistakes on a first date due to nervousness, but later down the road, the relationship turns for the best. Not all signals hold as concrete evidence, sometimes you have to give others time.
@Anointed1s_TV
@Anointed1s_TV Ай бұрын
@@dawnbedingfield1159 that's never cool. If he didn't want to be there, he could've paid for you're meal and left. You weren't supposed to divorce you're husband, you were supposed to reconcile with him for you're family sake. You're right, you should've given grace to you're ex husband for restoration. Seeking a new relationship after a divorce against living spouse, except if that spouse committed adultery against you, is a sin.

I've been saving my heart for a long, long time. So long that people who meet me decide that they should start matchmaking, lol. My default is turning guys down for a handful of reasons. Maybe I'm supposed to be single. Maybe my future husband is out there getting his own heart prepared. I don't know. The main thing is that I continue to follow Christ, and allow Him to refine my character and hone my faith. God is going to take care of me, husband or no husband. If I end up getting married, I'll definitely count it as a huge blessing. If I'm an old maid to the end of my days, then ok. Jesus is coming back soon. God has things for me to do here in the present. I can't let the world tell me single is bad, or married is bad. Doing what's right, and cultivating healthy friendships is a way more joyful way to live, than letting a million voices that aren't God, tell me what to do.

I'd say, following Jesus should be made clearer. If the man or woman doesn't at least read the Bible 3 times a day just like you eat to feed your physical body, then that's a red flag in the long run. You need God's word and spirit to maintain the blessings that He will give you, and that's the same thing for marriage. Spiritual discipline should be the ONLY element that matters above all else. Reading the word, meditating on it day and night, praying without ceasing in your heart, all of these make up the recipe. The love that you have for God will later overflow to others. It's a game of priorities.

Hey Lecrae! Can you talk about red flags that seem kinda camouflaged? Like, dating someone who is actually in the church and claims to love God. But they could be a religious narcissist or have some narcissistic tendencies that are not so easy to spot initially. I feel like my sisters and I have only ever met men in the church (or who claim to be devoutly Christian) but turn out to be different than expected in relationships. For example, my youngest sister dated a man who claimed he was devoutly Christian but turned out to be a misogynistic abuser. He would use the Bible against my sister for being a woman. That relationship really messed her up. Now she has a lot of trauma and is terrified to date another Christian man.
@danilaroche1156
@danilaroche1156 Ай бұрын
Anyone can claim to be a Christian. Even Jesus said this. It's a matter of the heart. A heart to please God. To hear His voice. The Bible is clear. A man is to honor a woman. To love His wife like Christ loves the church. If a man is abusing or tearing down a woman..he's in error. Only date/court a man who respects you. Period.

The Holy Spirit will give you discernment of a religious narcissistic spirit. Dealing with those kind of spirits requires intense spiritual warfare when you're alone, but you have to not judge them or reciprocate coldness towards them. It's better for a woman to date a Christian man instead of an unbeliever. It's harder for Christian men in society, because we are under constant attack from the Devil and his children. Christian men should love and respect their wives, but they also need strong Christian women to be their prayer warriors.

@@KimPossible911 truth is, when it comes to marriage in this world, you are supposed to have 1 foot in the world (so that you can relate to worldly people) and the other foot in the word of God (so that you can help worldly people come to Jesus). The Bible says, that a married couple are concerned about the things of the world for how they might please their wife or husband. When it comes to marriage, it's all about balance, because you want to give you're spouse Heaven on earth until y'all both go to Heaven later. Life is complicated for a Christian couple, but as long as you have a conscience towards God, God will always honor you're marriage.

Lecrae, if you've already addressed this aspect of dating then please pardon my oversight...but if you could speak to men about how courting/dating is NOT supposed to be a one-sided Therapy session with them talking solely about themselves and their hopes, dreams, and aspirations it would be GREATLY APPRECIATED. 🙌🏾🙏🏾 I say this because I've experienced this time after time with men of various ages, ethnicities, and socioeconomic statuses.

I love how practical lecrae is. In a lot of ways he thinks similar to me in a way I feel seen 😂 even though we don’t always agree. I like that he is very spiritually minded but also practical! I come from an area in the Christian body where a lot of people, imo, over spiritualize things and fail to think practically or understand how things are day to day. So I appreciate that he tries to keep that balance. He considers the spiritual side, the cultural side, etc etc

Very informative, I wish I had known all of this before I had started dating but of course this was before I knew god and got saved. That’s why it’s important to teach your children especially in the teen years without chastising or being to judgmental about the importance of a god loving man and honoring god and your body. When we don’t know god we don’t know ourselves. And the right approach to parenting is key
