With regards to your bio mom, it can be really scary for people to leave their comfort zone, especially as they get older. It sounds like she hasn't had an easy time, and the thought of an overseas trip is probably overwhelming for her. Try not to take it personally, it's not a rejection. Best wishes.

True. In a different era, it would be assumed your mother wouldn't travel that far from home.

Hi. I am a New Zealander living in England. Lived in Orewa. Just discovered your channel. So interesting to hear your fantastic story of your life and how you found your birth mother and father and new siblings. Amazing. Your adoptive parents have done a wonderful job in bringing you up and I am sure you have had a great life in Whangarei, NZ. Stay safe and strong ready for your next travels back to Russia! Will be great if your birth father and family can travel to NZ, they will love it!!!! X

Your story makes me smile so much, and brings tears to my eyes. You are so blessed with this extra family; not all adoptees have such results, as I’m sure you know. So how long did your birth father know about you brother? Was he raised by his birth mother? Thanks for sharing your story!

Thanks for the update on your half brother in Russia. Their baby is so cute. Just wondering if your half sister in Russia is still learning English in school or has an English tutor? Children seem to have an easier time picking up another language. And as you know it takes practice. I am not sure when the international travel restrictions will be lifted. The world has changed so much in just a matter of months. Thanks to the internet you are able to stay connected with everyone. Please take care.

Hello from Greece. I do think your parents are great and you and your brother had a good life but in my opinion since they adopted you both from Russia, they should have taking care that you learned Russian while growing up. To learn a second language is good for the mind and it would have made yr communication much easier now with your birth family. I think adoption is great, but I strongly suggest that the child one adopts should have some knowledge of his heritage

I'm Russian. And I can tell you that it's common for men in Russia to what we call it "make children" (translation - have random sex without protection because men in Russia say that they "don't like using condoms as it doesn't feel the same") but not take care of their children. A man often leaves a woman and a child stays with a mother or is left at an orphanage. Men in Russia in contrast to those in Western countries usually don't worry about leaving their children behind if they leave their mother (there are exceptions but Im not aware of any).
