Fantastic, I lived in Dublin for about 17 years and met a good bunch of these guys, in fact I used to be a regular customer at Slattery's of Chapel St., there is another Slattery's in Rathmines if you are familiar with Dublin. Beautiful story which brings tears to my eyes. Cesar, you are going to be truly legendary at Gibson, just like Ted McCarthy or even Lester himself.

The name should be the Staunton Burst. As a lefty who play right handed guitars upside down and strung right right handed Gibson sacrificed the MOJO and history of the Man and his instrument. Soon this will extend to so many fields of consumer products , that people will be amazed at some NOS sealed 1980 pairs of socks that DO NOT get holes in them after only three wash cycles , reaching 240.000 usd on Christie's auctions ..... Like @MLBuffao would then comment on the auction's youtube video " Maybe they should just make some affordable quality pairs of socks " , but they won't , because it's simply now how the scam works ....

I understand that most anyone who’s going to be playing this will be right handed, but it seems a shot to the legacy of this guitar to take away the left handed orientation. I was honestly appalled and amazed they would change it like that. It’s one thing to turn it back to righty, I get that. But non-correct tuning machines is a bit much for a vintage piece. The guitar went its whole life with the other style. Now if it is gonna be a player, not a collector, and the family wanted that change done then I get it. Otherwise, why scan it after that change was made and have that not be correct?

You know why they make those guitars? Because people are buying them so there's a market for them. Trust me, if people weren't buying those guitars Gibson wouldn't be making them. That's basic economics but y'all are to dense to understand that. Do you go over to the Ford channel to complain about the cost of their high end models 'cause all y'all can afford is a entery level Fiesta? I didn't think so. Your beef is with the people who can afford and buy these guitars, not with the company making them.
@RByrne2 ай бұрын
@simonvanderheijden432 it's hilarious that people think they should be making $500 guitars when they have Epiphone. Gibson can make 50 of these for $20k+ and sell out, while everyone wishes they had one. It keeps the name going, and helps to sell the USA line.
@reverb5082 ай бұрын
@@RByrne there's this weird sense of entitlement in the guitar community. I see so many people in the comments complaining about how a guitar is too expensive for "real players" (i.e. themselves) and disparage the people that can afford them and the brand for making them. The fact is that there has never been a better time to play guitar because there are quality instruments available across the entire price spectrum. Some folks just don't like knowing there's something out there that they can't have. Oh well... get over it.

I'm all for restoration, but changing back from left hand to right hand begs the question: Is this going to be played or is it going to be another museum piece? If it's not going to be played, it should have been left as a lefty. I question the change to Grovers as well. I didn't see in the video where the original owner had Grovers to update, so the choices really seem to go toward updating than to restoration or preservation. I'd prefer replacement Gibson tuners or Kluson to maintain the historic look. I hated my Gibson tuners in my 1960 reissue changed to Kluson 19:1 ratio tuners for more accurate tuning and stability to keep the appearance as well. (kept the originals in case I sell later on and someone just *has* to have it stock though). For anyone interested, there are two versions of the Kluson for older models or newer models, so be careful when you order - online reviews seem to have missed that detail when talking about fit.
