Kirk carving his initials into Greeny is such a brilliant display of why he deserves to own it. It's only worth millions if it's going to auction, as it stands it's a working man's instrument and that little touch of "vandalism" is a brilliant reminder that the real value is in the legacy of the mavericks that have paved the way for us to even have such a strong opinion on an inanimate object in the first place.
@NOBodYnose022
@NOBodYnose022 3 ай бұрын
I don't believe any instrument is "worth" millions, it's just that people with that kind of $$ are usually ruthless and will buy things to brag that they more than you. Then they'll put in a glass case to look at it and never touch it and ol greeny will be crying to be let out to play. Hooray capitalism
@RoadWarrior77
@RoadWarrior77 3 ай бұрын
I think that by carving his initials into it, it makes the guitar more special. It makes it more unique in a fashion. I would say that it is like papers on registered animal breeds. You can tell that Peter Green personalized it for himself, and then Gary Moore personalized it for himself. Kirk is just adding on to the tradition.

Kirk was so friendly, open and accessible. Perhaps , some of this can be attributed to Mark creating the perfect atmosphere for a legendary axman, like Kirk, to come out. Each star Mark interviews trusts him to be knowledgeable and encouraging. Marks lets the star tell the story rather than interrupting him a hundred times. It was obvious that Kirk had a wonderful rapport with Mark. Thanks so much Kirk for letting your fans look behind the curtain! Mark, I can think of no one who does a better interview than you!

I'm glad that Michael Schenker's legendary medallion V is in the right hands. I really wasn't expecting to see that, it was a nice surprise. I can't imagine actually holding that guitar, let alone play it.

Funny, Kirk hesitantly told me no when I asked I could play Greeny, said “…nno…she’s all secure right now” when I asked him at our meet & greet in Chicago. 😂 which I also got to meet Rob & I must say of all the meet & greets I’ve done meeting Kirk & Rob was the absolute best. We got to sit around & talk with them for a good 35-40min.

You really asked him to play Greeny? Why would you even do that? Lol Did you actually expect him to say YES? “Sure, random guy from a meet and greet, I totally don’t mind if you manhandle this priceless and irreplaceable piece of music history.” The absolute audacity. 😂
@RussBMCSGT

@ lol, I 100% asked him that. If you watch this video you’ll get why. No, I did not expect him to say yes I said it more to be funny because he’s said the same thing about letting “anyone” play it since he bought it. But it does make me wonder had Greeny been readily available if he would have said yes.

He probably would have said yes if you asked and it was in his hand at the time

@ that’s my guess too. I’ve played since 1987, I HAD to ask. I wasn’t disappointed as I had no expectation of him saying yes, but as a guitar player I would not have been able to live with myself if I didn’t ask. It was literally the 1st thing I said to him as I shook his hand lol. We did get quite a bit of time to talk to him & Rob after our picture & I didn’t bring it up again. It was just one of those “from one guitar player to another” questions that popped into my head the moment I met him kind of things.

Speaking to Kirk carving his initials in greeny and him worried about what people think. To that I say. SCREW THEM! It’s your guitar Kirk! You do what you want with it! It’s already beat up and the initials of its third owner ain’t gonna hurt it! Not to mention that it’s not like it’s some dentist who collects guitars. It’s the third owner who happens to also be a super rockstar. Just like the first two guys. Given the influence of thin lizzy in Metallica. Kirk is the perfect owner.

I truly admire Kirk’s deep passion for music and guitars! It’s heartwarming to hear him reflect on his early years and the inspiration that drove him to pick up the guitar. His stories resonate with so many, and it’s clear how much joy music brings him! ✨♥️ He is awesome!

This was awesome! Well done as always! I would so love to tour Kirk’s home. What we see there is so beautiful with that furniture, the spiral staircase down into that room. The whole gothic-esque atmosphere is just spectacular. Edit: All of the guitars were amazing, and the stories! Thanks for covering ESP, that was cool to touch on. But for me, that ‘64 J-180 Everly just stole my heart. A number of years ago I had a chance to buy one, black with double pickguard, for $4k and I passed. My wife, bless her heart, pressured me to buy it, but I just couldn’t get myself to spend that kind of money on one of my dream guitars. That was obviously a huge miss on my part!

Ha! Love the Black V. Kirk kicked me in the head while he was playing that black V 😂. It was a fairly small gig back in the day. Armored Saint opened. Me and this dude in the front row were clawing at the stage to try to pull ourselves up on stage to stage dive. The dude to my right accidentally grabbed Kirk’s guitar cable and jerked Kirk around while he was trying to play. This was back when Kirk prob weighed 135 lbs wet. Kirk looked down, couldn’t figured out which one of us yanked his guitar cord and I became the unlucky recipient of a Chuck Taylor tennis shoe to the grille. 😂 The following day I was at school bragging that Kirk kicked me in the face with a big Chuck Taylor waffle print on my cheek 😂. Good times.

I met Metallica during the Master of Puppets tour at the New Orleans Lakefront Arena when they opened for Ozzy. My friend was like let's go around back to see if Ozzy is here yet, and there was Metallica standing there Cliff and all. They were cool, shook our hands etc. They Ozzy pulled up in a limo, it was surreal to me at 15.
