I love the way Ren recognises his own hypocricies....in Hi Ren it states he never chased numbers statistics or stats, but now it's there in front of him. Why shouldn't he want it. His achievements are inspirational to those that are coming over struggles, not giving up, and not losing hope. His music, the beats, licks, drops, composition and lyrics are so refreshing. His community have bought so many albums because he is a voice for humanity and I personally love his values and what he brings to the stage by presenting them to his audience. He's worked so hard, and a number one album will be his reward for everything he has given to everyone else. A beautiful soul. 😍

One of the best parts of the interview was in the last minute, where Ren gives Chris his flowers. I've seen so many artists, too many, that when they make it to the top, they're generally unable to acknowledge what they gained from others. It's as though they're so insecure about their success that they feel it somehow diminishes their achievement to give others due credit. Chris will feel Ren's words like a warm blanket for the rest of his life, and Ren is so secure in himself that it costs him nothing to give others their deserved flowers. Ren's authenticity, humility, and spiritual generosity, as much as his talent, will leave the positive imprint he wished for in this interview.

It's brilliant that Ren's influenced by Jeff Buckley (among others of course) and found Chris' channel via that.

I love this so much! God Ren is such an all-round beautiful _human_ . I love how intently attentive he is - he's really _there_ fully. He's not humouring Chris in the least - this is the beautiful union of passions for art and expression. You can tell also that they both have a secret agenda to this interview : encouraging us, budding creatives (whether aspiring singers, writers, anyone really) to have the courage to shine and be beautifully ourselves. NGL, their mutual appreciation and just the refreshing _sincerity_ of it all actually had me tear-up! Truth, in art, and life, is _so refreshing_ isn't it? Thank you Chris. Thank you Ren.

What an amazing interview and I guess I must have started chopping onions at the end! Really felt emotional with how it came full circle for both of you where you say how Ren has helped you and Ren says you helped him. It’s just the culmination of his philosophy with you two expressing that you actually have helped each other. Two genuine and warm people just having a chat, perfect. Thank you Chris and Ren ❤

Really a big block that we sometimes need to get over is thinking that we're "mimicking" someone else's voice. They've influenced you, but it's still your voice. Big thing for me to hear.

100% For the longest time I used to think that I'm doing an impression of people singing, but that was never the case. Like Ren said here, I was always trying to take what made their voices special and the energy behind the song and push that through my own voice. Because you know your voice so well, it's so hard to really know how others experience it. And a few years back I was lying down and kind of sleepy I was listening to some stuff I'd sang and for the first time I heard it for what it actually was and realized I didn't sound anything like Mick Jagger or Liam Gallagher. I sounded like me and how I sang was tapping into their energy.

There is so much focus at times on suffering being evil, bad and to be avoided and if you have suffered you get all the cache to claim victimhood but Ren has clearly been shaped so beautifully by suffering which has taught him such deep lessons of things like gratitude rather than being resentful of people with perfect health. Such an enjoyable interview, thanks Chris!

I am a 66 yr old Widow, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. I can't remember the last time I connected with an artist as much as I do Ren. His lyrics are genius. He is a musical wonder. On top of that, he seems like just a good person. I am waiting for a CD from him, but more than this, I look forward to follow his future. I have never been a fan of hip hop, but Ren has substance. He is worth listening to. I think he is the best musical artist since the 80's. I loved your interview. You asked the right questions. If all the world thought like Ren, we would not be seeing all the turmoil and the world would be a better place. Thank you to both of you ! I look forward to his next album. I Knew Jeff Buckley Briefly, He toured the UK & I met him at the first show in Reading & talked, he invited us to his next show & we saw him 4 times, One of them in Bristol where my friend I went with saw Tim Buckley play 20 years prior! At the end he gave me some signed promo's & a bunch of stuff, Regrettably when he died, I had my guitar stolen, I needed another so I had to sell some of it, I still have the guitar I bought with the money from selling them, I call the Guitar Jeff! He was one of the great ones, Like Ren, A total Star!

I saw Jeff Buckley live in 95, at Queen's Hall in Edinburgh, where I now live. I was stood in front row directly in front of him at the mic. Will never forget him performing Hallelujah. One of the finest gigs in my life. Saw Leonard Cohen perform at Edinburgh Castle in 2008, and his performance of the song didn't compare, although it was a good gig, though not as good as Jeff's gig.

What a great interview. All generations are loving Ren, and Im here for it. The amount of people he reaches and mirrors he holds to people's faces is amazing. I've heard so many people stories through his songs. His music reeks polarity in his lyrics, sounds, instruments and feels. Every part of it seems to have duality. So brilliant!! ❤

I just love what REN has brought to the world. A new way of supporting each other by sharing & learning as time goes on. We don't need the big industry that eats up an artist's ability to create something so meaningful. I also appreciate the way I have been able to watch peoples reactions. It gives me a sense of peace knowing we all basically have our issues & that's OK as long as we don't hurt other people with our pain. I am growing. Just a few months ago I wasn't living. I'm so consumed with all the deaths of my family & pets. I have buried all of my family & I'm excommunicated from my g'children. I literally no longer exist to them.

My observation of the fluidity with which Ren slips between characters and narrator is, it reminds me of the way great character comedians do their jokes on stage. One moment you are the story-teller, the next you are the object of the story. The voices come naturally as you see the character in your head. Some of my poetry demands specific voices for the moment, so I totally get it.

- the Sick Boi album: launched the day after the release of MG3 with its warning about the self-destruction of humanity - Ren: already busy putting together an album about rebirth. ♥ The video he attached to the end of the treasure hunt could be considered the first release of this next "Ren era," in spoken-word form. Also... I don't think I've ever said this before in any of my comments on this channel despite having already known Ren built his singing voice around stuff he learned here and elsewhere, but: jfc Chris, seriously, ty for the role you played in literally bringing Ren & his voice to the world. I mean, I know he'd be making music if he'd never watched your channel, but *you* are a part of his tapestry; *you* are a part of the reason he gets to share his message with the actual *world* today, whether Sick Boi ends up charting at #1 or #2 on the official UK charts. Please just take a moment and sit with that satisfaction for a bit today, maybe with a beer or something.

Holy fuck Chris what an interview!!! How truly humble for Ren to big you up for being partially responsible for directing and channeling him in learning to express himself vocally!! This HAS to be the best interview that focussed more on his musical journey, influences, his singing/rapping as well as how he goes about making a song in the studio, to even trying things when he was busking to see how different things were received by people it was really enlightening i think. I love the fact that he openly said he wasnt great at singing when he started but that pure persistence and hard work and time paid off for him (he has said similar before but never as blunt and direct as he said it in your interview). Its Rens trademark to be eating on a live stream...his last 2 twitch streams he broke from that tradition, but today on his twitch stream and your interview he didnt disappoint hahahaa Anyway what a wholesome 45min interview that i think should be COMPULSORY WATCHING for EVERY RENegade!! Well done Chris and great job Ren!!

7:15 to about 8:40 My music is mouth music which I call freesong. Improvised, one takes. Over the many years I've done it, it's become just a partnership of a flow made by my breath and mouth and sound positions, directed by my emotions. I'm the instrument. I found it must be absolutely thoughtless, and organic. and nothing else. Like throwing paint on a canvas that is always moving. If you wonder what I mean, My performance channel is Sana Sparks here on YT Freesong would help the search. I won't link, I'm not spamming. It's a reference about just letting sound flow. No conscious input.

Awesome interview, this one feels so different from others with the way you approach the questions from the storytelling/vocal technique perspective. I also gotta say that I love Ren's "quantum" storytelling - there are infinite interpretations and they are all true.

Chris Liepe such brilliant interview and a great discussion. Love that you and Ren both really love Jeff Buckley and that Ren likes to express things in the moment. I appreciate the way Ren is real and knows the contradictory nature of life, that we all long for things whilst wanting betterment for ourselves and others.
