You have some nice machines there. Especially that re. If you want a longer shaft for the eq, I have a few spares

Thankyou. Actually, I do have a longer shaft, I just dont use it. I wouldn't mind a standard one, though as my other EQ is running a short one.

Thanks for the tour. Looking at your EP spindle moulder, you suggest it was built around 1960. More likely between 1946 and 1951. What's more, it appears it was built by Sentinel (the steam lorry building company) for Wadkin. If you look on the left hand side of the base there are three tags. I'm sure the bottom tag says "Manufactured for and to the design of Wadkin Ltd by Sentinel (Shrewsbury) Ltd". Apparently after WW2 Wadkin had too many orders and so sub-contracted out the manufacture of some machines. Sentinel seem to have got all the EPA sub-contracts. Cheers, Vann.

@@DTJoinery It's a pity you didn't include pictures of the tags of your other Wadkins, then I could have used the test numbers to give the year of manufacture of each of them (not the BFT & BRA as they were built in one of the former Bursgreen factories - and used a different test number system).

@johnvannisselroy6197 Yeah, I didn't think of that.😊 I know the date of some, my Dad was an apprentice for the company who bought the RE brand new. Our friend bought the EQ brand new. My 6 header, I learned last week, is a 1993 model. Most of the others, I have a vague idea, that's about it.

Part 4 absolutely - you're our very own Wadkin expert similar to the Canadian dude that runs the wadkin temple on utube (can't think of his name. - best machines ever - I have a number including believe it or not a massive pedestal radial arm similar to your which I got for scrap prices - if was going to a scrappy - I am stoked with your channel - such a great local Melbourne (I assume) story. I wish you the very best for your channel.

Thank you so much for your kind words. As I stated, I love Wadkin machines. They have been my favourite for 30 years. What do you have? We are up in NSW north of Sydney.

Great machines Man! Im a profesional carpenter based in Eastern Europe so my shop is full of old (1950-1975) machines that mostly came from Germany (Bauerle/Rex machines) and Denmark (Rival machines). So cool to see another tradesman iterasted in running older machinery and not the modern crap you see in every american hobby/youtube shop :) Lets be honest that thickness planer or those Wadkin spindle moulders would eat modern counterparts for breakfast. Its a shame that nowdays most tool manufacturers try to market machines that not sturdy enough and lightweight to be "the industrial line". Try to employ some people with those kind of tools they would not last you a year in my opinion. Keep yours running their a tresuere. Greetings from Poland

Thanks. I couldn't agree more whilst the new gear has all the bells and whistles. They simply just can't cut it when it comes to having the size and weight to work the hard yards. My thickness planer has 1.5 tonnes of pressure on the pressure bars. I'm not familiar with what you have. Apart from Bauerle, and I think Rex. They make a big 4 sided planer from memory. Thanks for commenting and watching.

Hey again. Just watched and enjoyed your video. That thicknesser is really impressive. So is the CC but people scare me regarding radial arm saws. Thanks for the show and tell. Take care.

Hi Izzey, yes they are very good machines. Made to work hard all day every day. In what way do people scare you with radial arm saws? Thanks for sharing. Have a great day.

@DTJoinery regarding Radial Arms Saws I've been told it tends to fling pieces away from you that bounce of walls and could potentially hurt the user. I've had opportunities to get a CC but it's size and weight out me off. I wish I could get a JTA sander though.

@izzeystarz7578 In 30 years of using them daily, I have never experienced this happening. They are as safe or safer than most machines in a Joinery shop. Like all machines though, most accidents happen via user error. There are certain operational procedures we follow and teach any who have learned their trade through us, and if followed, a radial arm is very safe.

Thanks for the tour. I have the same model BRA350 that you showed at the end. I have had it for about a year and love it so far. Still getting it fully set up and need to get the dado / trenching blades. Where did you find some with the 1 inch bore? Cheers!

Hi Zac, Yes, they are a very good machine, I've had mine for many years now. Not sure if you have seen pt2 of our tour, I showed my other one that I run a dado set on. I get my blades off a local saw sharpener. The dado brand is Linbide, made in Auckland New Zealand. I bought it about 15 years ago.
