Come to think of it, Gulliman is probably the closest to the Slaanesh out of all of the loyalist Primarchs, gifted, clinging to the perfection of order, and stauntchly disciplined, riping to break. Fulgrim and his Children fixation on Gulliman and Ultramarines is probably more natural than most thouhght.

In special necrontech armor that doubles as a control collar. But he some figures out how to disable it and escape, maybe with some of the other collectibles let loose for the battle. Maybe give him a sort of buddy cop story with a thunder warrior companion as they travel incognito trying to save the imperium from the shadows.

These takes are so asinine. There was nothing in the lore blocking what you're butt hurt about and the lore has been changed many, many times. I've been playing since 2nd edition. The T'au being added was a huge divergence. The rework of the Necrons multiple times. They were originally Chaos Androids. Space Marines were just regular guys in special suits. Are we supposed to be mad about those changes or do we all enjoy that Space Marines are kick ass transhuman death machines now? Things get adjusted so it tells a better story all the time. The lore is still a ton of fun and worth discussing, enjoying and caring about. Warhammer is a mythology with some big moments set in stone but the details are always blurry and have an unreliable narrator. It's what makes Warhammer both fun but also mutable for our little toy soldiers on the battlefield.

I don't know why you put lore in quotation marks, as if you're suggesting the change wasn't a change (incorrect), or as if the lore doesn't matter (in which case, why even be here). I also feel sympathy for Rho, in actual fact. I feel sympathy for Valrak and Majorkill as well. It's a change that has occurred outside of their control, but if lots of fans disengage from the hobby as a result then the lore channels are going to suffer from it too, which is sad given they put out good content. However, saying that upset fans are doing more damage than GW smacks of victim-blaming (and no, they don't all have neckbeards). If GW does something stupid that incenses a lot of fans, of course they are going to respond to it. People's comments here are relevant, because they are indicating to Rho that despite his efforts to soldier on with things (bless him), they themselves are struggling to care about the story any more.

It's a paragraph in a fantasy book that has no bearing on anyone's actual life. Get a grip. There's been MANY much larger changes to the lore and retcons even recently and hardly a word from all these sudden lore purists hiding their personal bias behind some pretense of 40k lore of being unchanging and written in stone. The Siege of Tera series alone changed multiple points.... Where was the lore purists outrage then eh? The only reason people are kicking their feet and screeching is the polarizing political b.s. everyone feels the need to buy in to, and those stirring the pot because outrage = views. EVERY piece of 40k story is and has always been from the perspective of the unreliable narrator. I applaud creators not engaging with this b.s. and after everyone on that side of the fence has had a good squeal about it, they will just find the next thing to be outraged about next week or whenever.

Your comment about lore changes is not relevant here. You’ve either failed to understand or are attempting a rhetorical sleight-of-hand. People aren’t merely upset about a lore change (though that happens too) - they do not want lore changes that happen just because of real-world IDENTITY POLITICS. People are reacting to this *in the context* of what they have seen happen with Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who, The Lord of the Rings, and with many other companies and fandoms besides. Women already have ample representation in 40K (though the exact importance of ‘representation’ is itself up for debate). There are incredible stories worth telling with the women who already existed in the setting. The existing lore and rules of the fictional universe shouldn’t be compromised by GW (as owners of the IP) just for arbitrary ‘representation’ of different identity groups. Everyone knows why this change has been made, and it is not for aesthetic reasons. You’re also mixing up two different things: 1.) fleshing out and developing of background, adding more detail, and 2.) actually retconning a fundamental detail about a faction’s background. We are witnessing the latter, not the former. As I have already said, people would be less annoyed if it was just that - what makes it egregious is making the change for the sake of identity politics. And ah yes, of course, there it is again. ‘Unreliable narrator’ is becoming a new cliché, regurgitated by apologists on this matter. The problem is it’s complete rubbish. As if we’re supposed to believe that every 40K novel, every codex and other official source published by GW is written by Alpharius. It’s a pathetic excuse that doesn’t hold up. You are conflating two things: the uncertainty that exists within the setting of the Imperium due to the problems and technology available (e.g. warp storms, long-range astrotelepathic communiqués getting lost / delayed), and our real-life understanding of the setting as fans. Just because the Imperium has lost so many records of its and Humanity’s history, just because communication lines can falter, doesn’t mean we as fans in the real world should be expected to treat every fact about the setting as an unconfirmed theory. I don’t condemn Rho for not addressing the matter. I can understand him and other lore KZbinrs either not wanting to discuss it or not coming down hard on either side (in that respect, they have more sense than GW). I sympathise with their predicament. But fans have every right to not let this change go without criticism. If they were previously followers of Rho's channel and now feel demotivated to continue doing so, they may well want to tell him why (and he may well want to know).
