It was one of things I loved about the Cell Saga. It showed that the Z Fighters weren't some infallible fighting force. They got real cocky, which is juxtaposed against Trunk's "get down to business, every time" attitude.

Gohan can be interesting if they wanted to BUT Goku has all the charisma to be honest...That said, the other characters could get some spin offs where they head up their own arcs...Gohan could have gotten that, we could have gotten a Future Trunks one, and of course a Vegeta one. And perhaps something for the other Z fighters & Bulma.

Buu saga was honestly peak in the first half. The Gohan high school arc, the tournament, Majin Vegeta especially are all the best part of the series But at this point the arc falls off. Gotenks’ stupidity pisses me off, and Himhan selling after this pisses me off even more

I'd recommend Phangito also for his DBZ fight breakdowns. Either his Majin Vegeta vs Goku vid or his Goku vs Cell vid would be my recommendation. It’s less comedy and more martial arts analysis, but it's still a good time.

5:04 Yep, it wasn't that the fans rioted and he changed his decision. If you know anything about Toriyama you know that the only people he listened to are his editors. He gave zero fucks otherwise and did his own thing. To not go on a tangent, guy just wasn't satisfied with Gohan and knew Goku was the better choice. He wasn't really propped up proper to be the main character like Goku was. If you wanna get more into that issue. RIP to the GOAT! "Ultimate/Mystic Gohan" still makes NO sense tho; The Elder Kai made it so that once Gohan powers up beyond SSJ2 he goes into a form with the appearance of his base form! Why? Why does it look like that? Never explained, and we'll REALLY never know now! Not to mention besides look cool for a minute, he didn't even do anything with it! 😂😂😂 Oh well, "Ultimate Gohan" sux!! Also, Gohan as a character overall was just not iconic enough to REPLACE Gokuu; look at him styling here in GOKU'S fit! If DBZ gave us another saga of basically this everyone would've just started to miss Goku and Toriyama understood that! THAT'S what happened! 😂 Yet another reason why he's the G.O.A.T.
