Have we been seeing hints at the return of the classic team up of Knuckles and the rest of the Chaotix? At the very least, we got the echidna on the scene with the modern detective agency in IDW. Also we have a rabbit dinner party to go to.

I do like the first story with Knuckles and the chaotix working together. Gives pre Archie vibes with those four being apart of a team. All they need is Mighty and Ray and we would have a nice reunion of the old team from the old Archie days.

The Dinner at Cream's story actually was the more fun one to me in this pair of issues. I especially love how Vanilla went full anime rage when she saw the ruined dinner (seriously, she was delivering the energy of the Anti-Spiral avatar from Gurren Lagann) Though if I'm referencing cartoon energy I gotta say Eggman delivered some legit Mojo-jo-jo power with that "oh for the love of, NO! I had no intention of doing anything evil...today" interaction.

4:47 Well Nick spot on with the observation on those 2 background characters being a reference, though to a videogame not an anime. Their designs are an homage to the vampire Remilia Scarlet and her maid Sakuya Izayoi from the Touhou series. As a huge Sonic and Touhou fan, particularly a fan of the residents of the Scarlet Devil Mansion, I got a kick out of this reference. Their names in universe are Stiletto the Fox and Piccola the Cat

I love how Eggman berates the gang for attacking so soon. They were the only ones who didn't get involved in the Eggperial City arc! I am certainly something bad is going to happen to the Restoration. All of this foreshadowing with Clutch, Mimic, and more. And I love that we got to see a more intimidating side to Vanilla. A lot of nostalgia in these issues, and the next one is certainly going to be interested.

I don't mind, but I don't want it to come at the cost Cream's father being portrayed as a monster. Personally, I want Vector to ask what happened to Mr. Rabbit and Vanilla would be hesitant to say but we get the feeling that it was a tragedy he can help her with.

I’m glad that we get to see a cream and vanilla’s story in idw. I hope we can get more with them in later comics, plus I think the cream story help subconsciously promote Sonic Dream Team (Apple Arcade) since she’s playable again and definitely a key player in the story there.

I love this story with how the villains acted and especially how Vanilla was about to up the age rating and make two skunks vanish from the series... Got to love how those eyes focused on them then glanced at her guests and she turns back to friendly mommy. The skunks survived what would have been an interesting mystery encounter.

4:47 since Nick commented on it, I can at least confirm “yes, by technicality”. Those two characters are, from tallest to shortest, Stiletto the Fox and Piccola the Cat. They’re background OCs belonging to the main penciler for Relic Robbing Rumble, Mauro Fonseca, and yeah, they’re references to Touhou (I say technicality, since Mauro didn’t exactly deny it when someone asked on Twitter). The two actually debut in #64 and show up twice if you look carefully. They’re just simple characters that show up in the background like a majority of other characters that were drawn by the IDW team, to help make scenes feel more alive aside from the main Sonic cast. Heck, Lanolin was once part of this cast of characters back in her, and the comic’s, early days as many may know.

Eggman is, Rouge is, the Chaotix can be, the Babylon Rogues are, there are comic specific characters that are. this really gives me high hopes for a Knuckles' Chaotix mini-series/special within the classic Sonic IDW canon, specially considering how we had one for each of Team Sonic's members for each of their 30th anniversaries with Classic Sonic in 2021 and Tails Sky Patrol in 2022 so, It would be fair that Knuckles has his own in 2024.

I still think that if the Rogues ever appear in a new game or show, just direct their VAs to imitate the Real-Time Fandubs voices.
