I was incredibly lucky to find myself in Weissach that very day when the car rolled out on the track and I actually had half an hour to spare to watch this thing go around, even though it was behind the other car for photoshooting sequence, the sound radiated throughout the hills. Of course making any kind of photos or videos in confines of Weissach is strictly prohibited so I didn’t take any pic’s or videos, but it is absolutly a memory that will stay with me for a lifetime. Thank you Porsche.

kind of, the actual shell and body of the CGT is it's own thing, but this 5 liter V10 you're seeing did infact evolve into the 5.7 we got in that car, so in some ways yeah
@kantina4765Ай бұрын
The engine was vaguely close to it, it’s similar to how the bmw v10 is the same as the f1 v10, it’s less extreme of a transformation but yeah it’s certainly not the exact same engine.
@Antonio88870Ай бұрын
The V10 that Porsche got on it was initially made for Formula One with Porsche being the supplier to Footwork in 1991, when Porsche made a V12 for Footwork's car. It didn't work out and Footwork cancelled the partnership with Porsche and returned to the Ford engines while Porsche was already developing a V10 for the 1992 season. That unused engine project was then placed into Porsche's archives for a few years before their planned successor to the 911 GT1 when the rule change to LMP was to come. The development of the LMP 2000 came to be, so Porsche decided to bring back that V10 project, readapting it for the then FIA GT LMP regulations but again, the V10 had its racing project cancelled by Porsche itself as the brand was focusing their then still limited budget on the development of the Cayenne with the comfort of still holding the record of Le Mans wins by a large margin to Ferrari. Once Porsche finished the project and had both the Cayenne and the Boxster on the market, they had enough budget to develop a new supercar and the Carrera GT concept did well with the public in Geneva, so they went with it and the result was the Carrera GT we know today.

@newnobee21 күн бұрын

Sadly, European Law does not allow them to, Porsche is very clear that the GT3 has two years left in it and no more, as it is not going to meet Euro 7 without being Downsized, Turbocharged, and fitted with Hybrid and more Gears, and that's a GT2, not a GT3. Euro 7 is the Death of Engines like this I am Afraid.
