The last vlog on my blue and white beast, Miss Machine. Sold her to my roomate for an upgrade I found on craigslist. Here's how she treated me as my first motorcycle!

Nice! I have to add my positive experience with the GS500F. I started riding about a year ago, I learnt on a Honda CB125 which is too small for freeway, and the first bike I owned was a Honda VTR250. I switched to a mint condition GS500F after about a month which I find more stable at higher speed on the freeway, in wind, and in the country. Glad I did. Riding the two has shown me 500cc is nothing to be scared of at all, it's still plenty small to be learning on. No way it could throw you off accelerating too fast. It's not as narrow as the VTR250 getting between cars at the lights etc, but is still narrow enough for getting through the traffic in most situations. Things that I first thought would make a difference but now don't are: No gear indicator guage- Now so used to them it doesn't matter, and best to go by feel and Tacometer anyway. Was never really an issue. It's not like cars, bike gears are more flexible. No fuel guage- Everytime I refill I click the odometer back to zero and get about 280km's before reserve. Reserve always been plenty to get me to the service station. No ABS- It was drummed into me in the Learners literature that this was what to get however riding safely in my opinion is about 1000 times more important in avoiding situations where you would ever need it than the feature itself- a nice feature to have but not a deal breaker without. More good points: It has enough power to effortlessly out accelerate to get away from clustered traffic, corners and handles really well, Neutral selection is easy (after a few tries getting the hang of) as is first gear selection (it likes a little roll forward as in an inch to engage). The exhaust note to me sounds good stock, too loud can become a pain imo, and I love how the bike revs, especially under acceleration. Loves high revs. Sounds great Fuel milage is really good, especially compared to a car. 20 litre tank gives me about 300 km's with reserve. Looks good. I've had many a positive comment on how the bike looks. I have a black one with silver a red, I was worried it isn't as visible as say a yellow bike, but it is no longer an issue for me after my confidence and understanding has built. Good review dude- thanks. thought I'd add my 2 cents backing the GS500, great bike.

AndyPutt1 yeah the previous owner removed the plastic covers trying to make it a naked bike and put some after market lights that don’t look very good haha. But other than that it works great!

I love this bike, man! I'm currently learning how to ride a bike (my exam is on october 22nd) on a yamaha mt-07 and my instructor rides gs 500 right beside me. Great machine, easy to fix and cheap as all hell, plus these engines are f-ing hard to destroy. Overall it's a perfect beginner bike.

How could you know if the bike is easy to fix and cheap as hell as you were learning how to ride it? You are obviously just repeating what you have read and heard.

I see that you're from Charleston. I just moved here recently and bought a 2008 Suzuki GS500F from Charleston Powersports and it looks exactly like this one. Rides like a champ.

Well sir congratulations. You seem to have the exact bike in this video. My old roommate bought this bike from me and traded it in there. I'm glad it runs nicely. I believe it is coming up on a maintenance though. Hope you enjoy!

You think having ridden two diff 600cc SS and a Suzuki 650 I will hate this bike?
@bobriley000444
@bobriley000444 4 жыл бұрын
I cannot decide between one of these or an early 2000's CBR 600F , the GS is much simpler and cheaper to maintain, uses less fuel and more comfortable, but the CBR has better suspension and double the power , but the power on a 600 supersport only comes in after 8k rpm so the GS isn't that much slower in traffic than the CBR 600.. AGH WHAT DO I BUY ?!??!
@Motomar843
@Motomar843 4 жыл бұрын
I personally would go with the CBR, you might keep it longer because it is capable of those higher speeds. I went from this bike to a ZZR600 and going back I would of bought the 600 as my first bike.

What kind of exhaust? And was it too loud and did it have a "droning" sound while one the throttle or while cruising?

That is a Delkevic exhaust. It's a slip on ordered from their website. They have full system available. Good quality

Is there any way to get lower revs at 100kph it’s doing 5000 rpm?.
@IRQ1Conflict
@IRQ1Conflict 2 жыл бұрын
Change the sprocket. You will lose tourqe at the lower gears yhough. 5000 rpm is fine for a bike that redlines at 11,000.

Even with no rev limiter and bad maintainence its hard to break. Just too simple long develeoped engine, that requires simple work to make the entire bike last a long time. Hard to find a comparable bike.

Absolutely. You may have troubles getting to highway speed reasonably with your 250, as the GS500f is way more comfortable on the highway.
