Central City is a historic mountain town located in Gilpin County, Colorado, United States. Situated in the Rocky Mountains, it is about 35 miles (56 kilometers) west of Denver. Central City is known for its rich mining history, preserved Victorian architecture, and vibrant casino scene. Central City was established in 1859 during the Colorado Gold Rush. It quickly became a prosperous mining town with a booming population and abundant gold and silver deposits. The town was nicknamed the "Richest Square Mile on Earth" due to its significant mineral wealth. Many historic buildings from the mining era have been preserved, giving the town a charming and nostalgic atmosphere.
