On the night of November 7, 2004, more than 10,000 #Marines and #Soldiers launched Operation Phantom Fury with the objective of clearing the insurgent-held city of Fallujah, Iraq. Among these troops were LCpls. John Dugan, Jorge Jerez and Daniel Sloniker, all infantry Marines assigned to 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines.
Together with their platoon commander, 1st Lt. Travis J. Fuller, they would endure some of the heaviest fighting the Marine Corps had seen since the Vietnam War. This is their story of courage, sacrifice, and remembrance.

Travis was a different kind of person. Driven and unselfish. I grew up 3 houses from him and we had some amazing adventures as kids. I will forever remember getting the phone call that he was gone. I was so in disbelief and when it hit me I punched a metal door and broke my hand. So much emotion and I couldn’t control it. He along with his brothers in arms may be gone but will never be forgotten. ❤🇺🇸

I knew a few of the guys who we lost in this crash. Of them, I knew Travis the best. We had gone to both sessions of OCS together as well as TBS. I knew early on what kind of Marine and leader he was and that he was destined to be great at both. It was exemplified by when we went through the Crucible on the same fire team. It is a brutal multi-day training event with practically no sleep or food. During the course of it you cover dozens of miles on foot over rough terrain. Each of the officer candidates takes a turn being in charge and is evaluated on the performance of the team to include making it to locations on time. That requires running most of the time in boots and full combat gear with a pack. One guy complained the whole time and acted as if he couldn't walk due to couple small blisters on his feet, but when it was that guy's turn to be evaluated he suddenly had it in him to run. Travis on the other hand ran full out through everyone else's evaluation period. He never complained, encouraged the stragglers, and helped to carry extra gear to make it easier for the others. When it got to his turn, he told everyone not to run for him, he needed to take care of his feet and that he was going to do it on his time, not ours. He was willing to take the hit on the evaluation if we didn't make the time, but only while he was being evaluated. Travis took off his boots and he had literally run all the skin off of his feet. They had blistered up and then ruptured and the skin came off. It looked awful and had to be incredibly painful, but he hobbled through his evaluation and never complained. When it got to the next guy's evaluation, Travis took off at a run and never slowed down. He endured a ton of pain and never complained to give us all the best scores possible, only slowing when he was the one who would be penalized and we would be spared punishment. He had always struck me as a real warrior and leader and a great man, but I was sure of it after that week. Later, I heard of his heroics in Fallujah and how he was loved by his men because they saw in combat what I had glimpsed in training. His loss was tragic, but I am not surprised to see that so many other people are still inspired by him. Semper Fi!

I'm not knocking any other service members out here but these men the ones that go to war. They are true heros. When someone comes up and says thank you for your service, all I can think of is the people who actually have deployed and served and they are the ones that should be receiving thanks not the hatred of the world.

Thank God for the United States Marines that came before me, and for those that came after. Marines are everything to me. If your Marine has been to war or not remember every single Marine knows he was going to join since he was very young. Marines know they are going to get the call, and Marines know what might happen, and they joined willingly. Every Mothers son that joins the Corps know what he has to do, and has been waiting his turn since he was a very young man.

Korean Village was Al Rutba near the Saudi border. I was on a CH 53 coming out of Tagattum the same night that 3rd Marines had their accident. We got engaged on our way to Al Assad with bracketing RPG's. I will never forget the crew of the chopper shooting everything they had back at the ground and the pilots taking evasive manuvers. I myself was shitting my pants. Once I was able to gather my thoughts I looked around for the reactions of the grunts coming back from Falluja. They were all asleep. Thats how exhausted those Marines were. We landed and found out that a CH 53 had gone down. The crew of our chopper and the Marines on board were all in disbelief. After all they had been through. God bless them all.

My brother just recieved an award for saving someone's life. I thought I'd find him on today's video. I guess not. I hope his contract goes smooth. I can't join because I was falsely convicted and even though I'm still trying my hardest, I basically could never join the marines in my life with this record. On January of 2020 I had just barely turned 18 and my baby mama was abusing me. She had already pinned me for a domestic violence charge and everyone believed her, but this one occured when I was 17. I had gotten in contact with my social worker about my baby mama's violent behavior and mentioned to him everything my gf was doing at the time to try to hurt me. He didn't give af. My son had already been taken by this point. And the court had ordered that me and my baby mama reside together to prove to the court we can work things out. Now imagine had I not let the social worker know about my baby mama's abuse. Anyways the social worker just shoved it under the carpet and didn't even do anything to report my gf and instead left the responsibility all on me to call the cops and report her. Now me obviously I don't like police because I grew up with my father being in prison so this left a bad taste in my mouth already just to even call the cops and snitch on my girlfriend. But had I not called the cops even the social worker told me if she calls the cops on me, I'm completely screwed. So I called them and my baby mama was about to get arrested before she started trying to make it seem like I'd had raped her. After that I'm sure you can guess the rest. They dismissed everything else she had done to me and instead kept all her new information and charged me with Domestic violence, at 18. I had just barely turned 18. I obviously couldn't afford a lawyer, and all of my family didn't support me because they all thought I had beat her up. After getting convicted I tried enlisting in the marines before I knew a Domestic violence record would even interfere. And I can't join apparently because of a firearms ban. I have it for 10 years but federally it's for life which is ridiculous. I'm applying for a pardon but I'm about 100% sure they're going to deny it. It's sad, watching my life go to absolute chaos and meanwhile the real abuser gets to abuse her power even further and taunt me and mock me and my two boys for everything. My brother eventually saw how inspired I was to join the marines and I let the recruiters know, the same ones that came to recruit me ended up recruiting my brother instead because I can't join. My brothers serving currently, on his first year and he already saved someone's life in there. I'm very happy for my brother. I just wish my circumstances was different so I can serve with him. I wish justice wasn't a myth in this country, it's a real shame I can't do what I was meant to do. I have dreams about it, I read about and for me everything had always been for the military until I was told I couldn't join. If I ever get a chance yall already know it's marine corps I'm choosing over any other branch. I'd probably switch later, but I need the structure in my life for my kids. I want my two boys go look up to me as a great father who will always be there no matter what.

Can we have Marines look into where the homeless in San Francisco went to just prior to the China President's visit? Many have friends and family members that have gone missing after the cleanup and some say they may have been exterminated. Since some homeless are veterans, can you send one or two teams of six to investigate where the missing are at?
