I like to pull out extra Render Layers, such as Emission (though there's a *lot* more options for that nowadays than when I first started doing this!) and apply an RGB Ramp before and after the Blur node to give myself extra control over the effect. Depending on your lighting setup, Emission doesn't always catch enough either, so you'll have to pull out other things too, so you'll have to use the Mix node to Add stuff together. If all the light comes from Point sources, I have to take the Image output of the Render Layers node, and clip the bottom 50-80% off the colours to take only the brightest points. But, it's all art, so experiment!

Hello, just wanted to ask. I'm doing an animation video render and the glare and bloom is still not showing while it's busy rendering. Does the video only contain the glare and bloom after its been rendered and can be watched or does this only owrk for images?
@ArghanionsPuzzlebox2 жыл бұрын
The bloom and glare are added after each render. This means that if you are doing a video, for example, the glare and bloom will be added to each frame after it is fully rendered. A new version of Blender will contain a realtime glare/bloom for the viewport.

how to combine bloom with animation? can be ? do you have to render each frame separately? and adding composite ?
@ArghanionsPuzzlebox2 жыл бұрын
If you connect the nodes like shown in my tutorial, every frame that gets rendered will have the bloom automatically applied after the render for that frame is done. Just try it out and you will see.

I am at the end of the sword tutorial from CG Fast track and decided last minute to switch to cycles and can't for these of me figure out how to get the lighting and bloom to look the way I want. The light shining down on my sword dosenr seem to reflect off my sword very well at all and the contrast is off and the bloom is so finicky. Starting to wonder if I should just switch back to evee for now
@ArghanionsPuzzlebox2 жыл бұрын
I'm sure you will get it resolved. What kind of lighting setup are you using? Are you adding lights in the scene or using emissive planes?
@KAIN3ONTHEBEAT2 жыл бұрын
@@ArghanionsPuzzlebox I got it figured out for the most part, at least to where I'm happy enough with it. I just released the animation on my channel if you want to check it out. I ended up using a spot light to do the job.
