Barry Rillera was one fabulous guitarist.
@bubhub643 жыл бұрын
The guitarist Barry Rillera's brother Butch Rillera was in the band "Redbone" who had a hit in the 70's with " Come and Get Your Love." Barry Rillera and Bill Medley were furniture movers in the early days. Barry was also friends with Bobby Hatfield at Long Beach State University where both attended. Bobby asked Barry to perform at a fraternity party, and to bring his freind Bill. That was the first night that Bobby and Bill performed together. And the rest is music history.

They were out of The Hop when I returned to So Cal/Lakewood/Long Beach in '98. The Hop stayed around for awhile but the name has long since changed names. I loved how as soon as they sang, they were in sync.

I wonder what Top This was there was a hop in Long Beach on Clark Street I used to go there all the time in the '80s but it was there way before the '80s they had a lot of the greats there I have their autographs and pictures. I'm89 years old now so I've been around a long time through the 50s and 60s and seventies watching Always guys singing some in person some not but not the Righteous Brothers. I wish I had seen them but I'm enjoying them now anyway.🤩🤩

In LA on business maybe 1986...staying in Newport Beach area. Someone at the hotel recommended The Hop. Found my way there and had a blast. Although not performing, Bobby and Bill were there. They were alone at a table, if memory serves, drinking coffee. Although they had ups and downs they certainly seemed happy in this great video. Thanks for posting!

If that is "The Hop" their nightclub on Brookhurst in Costa Mesa area of Orange County, I used to go there a lot from 1986 to 1988. Nice nightclub. They played great oldies and had a big movie screen behind the dance floor to play videos to the songs. Lots of fun great looking girls who loved to dance. It was my favorite place for a while. Last time I drove past there it looked like the building is now a Chinese Restaurant.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 outstanding all around! Band and backups are terrific. Barry Rillera is 🔥🔥🔥 as usual. And what can I say about The Boys. On point and at the top of their game. Not only great singers but exciting entertainers. Suspect they had had a couple of wobbly pops with the customers before the show. 😆 Loved Bill's rock leaps. Wow! Surprised even Bobby I think! Never seen them so relaxed. Wish I could have been there. Thanks so much. I have a couple more from The Hop. Hope there are some more out there. 💪🤘👍👏❤

Bill's voice sounds closer to his voice on the recordings and earlier performances. While I would say Bobby had an amazing voice earlier in his career, you can hear it is not the same. They sounded good though. Rest Easy Bobby and best wishes to Bill!

Bobby was a smoker. And this is after his accident, I think.
@spoodlew3 ай бұрын
Bobby was trying to keep a drunk off duty bartender from driving home and the guy got mad. When Bobby and his wife left the hop, the guy tries to take Bobby's keys. When Bobby turned his back, the Bartender did like a wrestling move and Bobby's face hit the pavement. It broke bones in his face, teeth his pallette, I think his nose, esophagus damage and nerve damage. I read thatbit said he had some numbness in his face and had lost taste and smell. I think the later was only temporary. I think that contributed to his voice.

95 % percent blockage. The miniscule amount found in his body is suspect. Especially when his family, friends and Bill never saw him take anything(or act under the influence). Nothing was found in his room. Just weird.
